Chapter 13: Chapter 13 : Processive Adaption

Today was the seventh day on the island, and Eli stretched after waking up from his make-shit base, which he had been inhabiting ever since the third day. He had made sure there were no beedrill communities or common pokemon around his base, which there luckily weren't.

Slowly jumping down from the low-hanging tree, Eli watched as Teddiursa yawned and did the same, albeit with less stress due to the fact the small bear was at least x2 as strong as he currently was.

Slowly sending a strand of vitality through his chaotic energy, Teddiursa was awake almost immediately and bursting with energy.

"Today, we will be practising your night slash. The woman who is our main enemy at the time is confirmed to have a gastly, and that means your normal moves will be ineffective against it. However, when we do eventually meet, it will be quite a while. She will probably try to scout for me, and that is why I can't neglect your normal training for only training night slash. So, today you will be practising scratch. Our objective is to get it up to cut in the next 5 days. If you don't do that, I will impend harsh punishments on you."

Eli frowned once he saw Teddiursa shudder before the small bear slowly started to nod his head.

"You will use scratch against this tree 10 times. After that, 1-minute break and then 10 scratches. Then again. I want 30 scratches."

Scratch was a rare pokemon move that had an evolutionary branch on it. That meant that it could evolve with how adept the user managed to wield it. It went to scratch, to cut, to slash. Once slash was learnt, it would make learning moves that included claws far easier than before. Knowing Night slash may have benefited the current Teddiursa, but its power was of course limited to the little bear's power and energy.

Eli did a set of push up's and pull-ups while Teddiursa did its own set, as he used the low-hanging branch to pull himself up and down.

He needed a healthy and agile body if he could survive, as the most broken thing in this twisted world is running away. Those obese couldn't survive in a life and death situation, due to the fact they had limited agility and stamina.

Sweat poured down their face of Eli as he dropped down to the floor, his eyes condensed into slits.

He was always malnourished, and yet whenever he tried to work out his fragile body could never develop any muscle. He became more agile, yes, but he could never seem to shake off the skinny fracture of his.

Looking over to Teddiursa, Eli saw the claw marks on the tree and nodded his head in approval.

Teddiursa seemed tired as well, as it mimicked its trainer.

"it."

"Teddiursa, are you a male or female, one or two for the respective genders."

Teddiursa held one of its padded razor-sharp claw's up, as Eli nodded.

"Male." Eli clicked his tongue. "Break time is over. 30 more, carry on."

Life drained from the face of Teddiursa once these words were muttered out, as Eli could have sworn he heard an audible groan come from the direction of his pokemon.

"You agreed to get stronger, you bastard. Use your pain as a motivation." Eli hissed out, as Teddiursa almost immediately got back to it, and he moved on to doing crutches.

After 5 minutes, Teddiursa was on the ground, as he was considerably slower than the last 30 swipes.

Chaos energy flew out of the finger or Eli, connecting with the near comatose body of Teddiursa, sending strings of vitality.

Eli could feel his body sink, but Teddiursa got back from the floor and continued his training.

Eli raised his eyebrow at this. He didn't even command him to do this.

Teddiursa and Ursaring were known to be incredibly resilient and loyal pokemon, but he had never expected Teddiursa to push itself past the limits without him ordering it to do it.

As night started to fall, Eli munched down on his bitter oran berries, which he scavenged from the forest. He had started to run out of preserved berries slathered with honey, so he decided to save them for the emergency rations in case he couldn't find any food.

The sun had started to set, as Eli lay down on his low-hanging tree.

He watched as the hazy cloudy sky slowly became bathed with stars.

It reminded him of when he used to lay down on the hill just slightly outside of the slums and watch the sunset.

It was his only escape from reality.

Why couldn't he just be born into a high-class family? and enjoy having a family, having a life.

Fire bathed their cold eyes of Eli, as he thought back to the scene of what he did.

"Ah. Ahahaha. Ahahahhaahah." Eli laughed and laughed, to the point where he started to cough violently. But even then the laughter continued until he was physically incapable of laughing anymore.

And then the laughing stopped.

An empty silence filled the air, as Eli looked up to the sky with the star sky, a rare tired expression filling his face and his eyes.

Slowly grabbing his backpack and grabbing it out of his bag, he slowly started to raise it to his throat, his finger squeezed on the trigger.

Should he just end it?

why does he deserve to live?

in just a second, his pain could be gone.

His hand shakes when he started to put more pressure on the trigger.

And yet, he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Eli wiped the sweat off his head before placing his gun back into his backpack.

"Eugh?" Teddiursa started to walk towards Eli, its razor-sharp claws having indents and looking more worn than before.

Pokemon had something called "Processive Adaptation." Tomorrow or in a few days, Teddiursa's internal energy will repair its claws and return to a sharper and refined condition.

"Go to sleep, Teddiursa." Eli didn't turn around, as the small bear climbed in front of him, before crawling up onto his lap and looking upwards towards the stars.

"Do you like them?" Eli asked as Teddiursa nodded it.

Eli gave a small laugh, his smile turning into a wry one. "Maybe one day once you are strong enough you will be able to reach them with your claw, and scoop them up like a cusped hand during rainfall."

Teddiursa seemed to have a spark of passion, as it slowly started to raise its paw upwards towards the stars.

It seemed to struggle for a moment, as Eli once more gave a wry laugh.

One day.

One day.
