Chapter 28: I am your new chief

*Big thanks to Charlie Puente-Duany for your continuous support*

Torghen let out a grunt of pain a blade cut through his sleeves and left a shallow mark on his arm. The battle field had become a mess with ravens flying around and swooping in to strike at his men, meaning a warg was involved but Ronell had yet to see this warg.

In order to hold on to what little moral they had left he led some men to charge up against the group of free folk. It had been a pain but he eventually succeeded but all his success had brought him was the ire of a possessed woman.

Frenya fought with a fury that would make Torghen's father proud, her weapons constantly danced around making it seem as though her swings were random but Torghen was quick to rid himself of that notion each and everyone of her attacks struck true.

His only saving grace was the fact that she wasn't a Skagossi which meant her strength was not even comparable to his. She refused to let this deter her as she continued her onslaught but one well timed, okay lucky hit, and he had managed to get some breathing room.

His mind began to spin quickly as he thought of ways to defeat the woman before him, his eyes searched the battlefield just as rapidly as his mind thought of ideas and then he saw it his father who had some wounds here and there, was looking down at Arthor who was looking back at him. The both of them uttered no words as they continued their stare down increasing their grip on their weapons.

As Arthor faced of against Ulfric, the rest of the world seemed to fade away the tension kept on building up until it reached its breaking point. Once it did Ulfric was the first to strike at Arthor his weapon flew down but Arthor hopped aside avoiding the attack he hopped back to his original position before squatting almost instantly and slashing with his axe.

Ulfric's leg went up to avoid the strike before stomping down holding the weapon in place as he continued to strike at Arthor. Arthor was forced to abandon his axe as he made it back to his feet entering a two handed sword style.

With both his hands holding onto the sword he moved in to meet Ulfric the both of them exchanging blows in a flurry. The exchange grabbed the attention of the others who brought their battles to a halt, at that moment they knew, they all knew. The results of their war depended on the results of the battle before their eyes.

Ulfric glared at Arthor as he rushed at him, a slash went across Ulfric's chest but it did nothing to deter him as he continued marching with his glare only getting stronger. Arthor continued to slash at Ulfric but Ulfric tired of this simply smashed the blade breaking it into two.

Arthor eyes widened as he looked at what remained of his sword in his arms. Ulfric's fist connected to his jaw sending him flying back with his vision blurry, he was disillusioned with that hit. The man before him was a monster the likes of which he had never faced before.

He rolled away avoiding a strike and tried to gain some distance as he made his way back to his feet. "Have you finally understood the folly of your actions. I'll admit your sword movement was something, as well as your instincts I wish my son was more like you."

"No matter how much you train though it won't change the fact that to me you are nothing more than a child". Ulfric grabbed Arthor's arm as he tried to strike at him with what remained of his sword, before sending him back to the earth with a headbutt.

Arthor struggled to crawl away as he was completely disoriented with blood trailing down from his forehead over his face. Grabbing his braid Ulfric lifted him up to look him straight in the eye, "you entertained me child so you can die now in piece knowing I will not forget you" Ulfric proceeded to move his weapon to smash Arthor's face.

Ulfric suddenly came to a halt causing his men who were cheering for him to stop confused as to what their chief was doing. This confusion soon turned to shock as Ulfric dropped his weapon and fell to his before dropping to the ground as a stream of blood gushed out of his throat, a dagger was embedded in there.

Seeing this the people turned their attention to Arthor who now stood before the body. Arthor gave the body one more glance before shouting in a voice that travelled across the battlefield, "Ulfric is dead! kneel before me! For I am your new chief"
