Chapter 23: 23. First Meeting

'Looks like Emily won't be coming. He promised to explain himself to me. I waited three hours in this place.'

Chan decided to leave the Faculty of Economics. He felt quite desperate this time. The afternoon breeze that hit his body was not able to calm his heart which was filled with disappointment.

As he walked toward the parking lot, a black sedan stopped a few meters in front of Chan. A woman familiar to Chan came out of the Faculty building greeted by the driver who was preparing to open the door for her.

"Adelia," Chan quickly greeted the woman.

"Oh, you? Aren't you Chan?

"That's right, I'm Chan, this morning we had a brief meeting with Emily."

"Yes, I remember."

'Adelia, the wife I've been longing for. If you know del, I've been dreaming of this meeting for a long time. Chan's mind developed a smile on his lips.

"Adelia, come in. I don't have much time" a heavy voice emerged from inside the car and could be clearly heard by Chan's ears.

As soon as Chan's smile faded, a man's voice, who is that man? Could it be Adelia's father?'

"Hendra, are you coming to pick me up? Didn't you say you couldn't come this morning?"

"Yes, I changed my mind. Come on in!"

"Ah Chan, I'll go first, bye." Adelia immediately opened the car door and disappeared into it.

"Have you been waiting for me for a long time?"

"It's enough to read a book."

"I'm sorry, yes."

"Come on, I don't have much more time. Come on, Sir, let's go."Hendra's orders to the driver.

'Adelia. Chan's voice was stifled, suddenly his chest felt tight after listening to Adelia and Hendra's conversation faintly. 'Who is that guy? Why are they talking so intimately? Could it be your father or have you been with another man del? What is this? What really happened?'

Not long after the car drove up. Leaving Chan still wondering about all the reality he experienced.

The Yogyakarta Regional General Hospital

Emily entered the hospital grounds. His little body was forced to run down the halls of the hospital building. No matter what else, he just wanted to know the condition of his mother who was lying in the Emergency Department of Yogyakarta hospital. His steps stopped when he was right in front of the ER building, looking for the figure of his brother among the many people who passed there.

"Emily"

Emily was taken aback, she looked for the source of the sound and rushed to her relatives. "Uncle how is mother's condition?"

"Your mother is still undergoing examination son"

"What happened to mom?"

"Your mother was hit by a car on her way home from the market, the car driver ran away and your mother was lying on the side of the road. Local people brought him here."

"Oh, my god. Has the culprit been caught?"

"Son, the police are investigating the case."

"Mom, I'm sorry I didn't take good care of you."

"Son, this is a disaster. No need to blame anyone. The most important thing now is that we try and pray that your mother's condition improves soon."

"Yes uncle, thank you for bringing mom here."

"Excuse me, Are you the family of the hit-and-run patient inside?"

"Yes, doc, I'm his daughter. How is my mother's condition Doc?"

"Your mother is bleeding in Miss's head, luckily we were able to stop the bleeding immediately and perform a blood transfusion. In addition your mother also suffered a hard impact on her spine so we need to take further action. But first, we need the consent of the family."

"Yes doc, do your best for my mother."

"If that's the case, we will take immediate action.

The next day, Emily was still in the hospital. Her mother has been transferred to the treatment room.

"Emily"

" Adelia, " Emily was surprised to see her best friend suddenly in front of her eyes. "How did you get to this place del?"

"Look at your phone, how many times have I made a call?"

"Huh? God, I just put it on my mother's treatment room table"

"No problem, friend. I'm just worried about you. You didn't go to college today and I finally decided to go to your house and that's where I got the information that your mother is being treated in this place"

"It must be Uncle."

"I think so. How is your mother now?"

"The condition of the mother has improved del, but the mother's spine cracked and this resulted in paralysis of the mother's legs. I'm sure it must be hard for us to remember that only mom is the backbone of the family."

"Emily, take heart, man. It's gonna be okay. Your mother will soon recover."

"Thank You, Adelia."

"Emily, I have some important news for you."

"Important news?"

"Yes, the head of the study program today said that the final exam can be held from next week. That means we will soon graduate and graduate. This is good news, isn't it?"

"The final exam?"

"Yes Emily, hah I'm really looking forward to this." Adelia looked at her best friend who didn't show a happy expression at all. "Emily, what's wrong with you?"

"I will take time off for a while del. She needs me at home to take care of her in her current condition."

"Wait Emily, you should consider this carefully. Just a little more to earn the approval of friends. I'm sure your mother would also be proud to see her daughter achieve a college degree"

"That's where my devotion to del's mother was tested. In this city I only live with my mother. There was no other father or son in my life. Only Uncle occasionally cares about our state. So if I'm not taking care of mom, then who else? That's my responsibility, isn't it?"

Adelia felt sorry, she just fell silent when she heard the story of her best friend's life. Without realizing it, tears began to pool in the arms of his eyes.

"Emily, I can feel your sadness. I know exactly what it's like to live with just one parent. I understand, man." Adelia hugged Emily, she tried to calm her best friend.

"Thank you Adelia, you have become my best friend."

"No need to thank Emily, I'm glad to have a best friend like you. Oh yeah the final exam problem, if that's your decision I can't stop you. I'm sure you know what's best for your family, Emily."

"Yes Adelia, even though it's hard I will live it."

"The spirit for us." The mood of sadness began to cheer up a little.

Kring ... Kring ... Adelia's phone rang.

[Hello Ms. Atun]

[Hello, Miss Adelia Where Are you? Long time no? Little Master cried, Mbak Atun had given him milk but still]

[Oh my god, I forgot about it. Alright, ma'am, I'll be home soon. Thanks for contacting me]

[Alright, Be Careful on the road.]

"Call from del's House?"

"That's right Emily, Nathan it's nap time, usually it's me who always put him to bed, so he's fussy and just crying. I'm sorry Emily couldn't stay with you."

"No problem del, I'm used to being like this, so calm down"

"I'll go first, see you."Adelia walked away.
