Chapter 20: Kita Island (2)
[Somewhere in Kita Island]
(First Person POV)
After surveying the island for a while, I found out more about the situation here. The First thing I noticed is that the people are living in an extremely poor conditions, it looks like most people struggle to buy basic essential stuff like food and clothe, I could tell that just by looking at them.
The second thing is the pirates seems to have the freedom to do whatever they want around here, even the city guards don't interfere in their business and on top of that the crime is prevalent everywhere.
"It's a disaster" While I was strolling, I came across a huge palace 'There are lot of guards patrolling around it, it must belong to the king or one of his family'.
While I was at it I decided to take a closer look.
I slowly approached the gate from the side and peeked inside. The palace looked huge from the inside and extravagant, certainly fit to call it the king's palace.
'So the King and his family lives in lavish while his people are starving' as pirate it would be a normal thing for all pirates would do the same thing, but as human being I must say, this guy is a lowlife.
"Enjoy it while you can" Since I'm going to clean this island from pirates anyway, I'll get rid of the useless king while I'm at it.
"HEY YOU!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!" One of the guards started shouting at me.
I quickly ran away while hiding my face.
"HEY WAIT!!" The guard came running behind me. I took the first turn to the right and quickly hid myself.
"Where did he go?" The guard kept searching for a few seconds then he went back to resume his patrol.
After that incident I made my way back to the city center where I run into Calvin and Ken.
"Yoo!" I greeted them.
"Boss, where've you been?" Calvin asked.
"Just checking this place out"
"What do you think?" Calvin asked while lighting a cigarette.
"This place is a shit hole"
"Yeah"
"Seems like pirates are the law here" he said while observing around a dozen pirate walking in a group.
"I'm surprised they still haven't confronted us" I said.
"Maybe they're afraid" Ken stated.
"I doubt so"
After a few seconds when they noticed us, they came approaching us.
"Speaking of the devil" Calvin said then he threw his cigarette on the ground and stepped on it.
"Ashen 'Demon Of The Sea'" The man who was leading the group called my name.
"What is it?" I put my hand on my side ready to pull my gun.
The man looked at me for a second, he didn't seem to be bothered by that, he then said, "The boss wants to see you!"
"The Boss?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, follow me and don't try anything funny" He arrogantly said.
"This punk!" Calvin was about to go beat him up until a huge figure appeared out of nowhere.
"Hahahaha…I never thought The Demon would look this innocent in person!" A tall man with a huge tattoo across his chest said. He has blonde hair, green eyes and a muscular body full of scars and he is also carrying a long Polearm saber in his back.
"Boss!! What are you doing here?!!"
"Relax!" The tall man said to him.
"You're the boss?" I observed him for a second, 'He looks strong' I thought to myself.
"Smart boy" he said with a smile and then he took a few steps forward and brought out a piece of paper.
"Hahahaha!!…Today is your lucky day!" he threw the paper at my direction. I caught it and took a look at it.
"What's this?"
"An invitation, the king himself wants you to attend his feast." He answered with a smile then added "It will be held in his palace in two days."
"And why would he want me there?" I asked him.
"Hehe… let's say he has an offer for you" he said then smirked at me.
"What if I refuse?"
"You ask too many questions." He approached me.
"Don't be hasty, you might regret it" he looked at me for a second then he said "You are not in East Blue anymore, you might have been called a Demon over there but here you're just a rookie so don't get full of yourself"
"Maybe I should show why they called me that…" I glared at him for a moment then he turned his back.
"Let's stop it here, just be sure to be there in two days" he said as he walked away and shortly all the other pirates followed him and left.
'What are they planning' I kept thinking about it, but I couldn't wrap my head around it 'Let's just go along with it for now'.
"You're unusually wary" Calvin said to me.
"It's better to avoid fighting an opponent who you know nothing about."
"Boss is right he seems to know a lot about us" Ken stated.
"Let's just go along with this for a now"
