Chapter 5: Still weak.

Alec was so surprised after seeing the quest the system had offered him to the extent that he was unable to realise what was coming toward him from behind.

After Kim killed the last demon on sight, she turned around to find a half-dead demon speeding towards Alec on limbs only.

"Alec, your back!"

Alec turned the moment he heard his name to see a half-dead demon, running hysterically toward him.

Seeing that made Alec froze in shock, unable to move. It happened so fast that he wasn't able to move an inch from his standing spot.

As soon as the demon widened its mouth about to put his sharp, pointed claw on Alec's Leg, a dagger that was sent off at an incredible speed, came slamming into the demon's head, inflicting it to drop dead on the ground.

"I see. You couldn't help but wanna sate your curiosity. Well, that's not bad." Karg commented with a smile before walking past Alec and entering the car.

"The heck?" Alec let out a deep breath of relief still not yet letting go of his raging heart that was erratically beating as if it was gonna escape the ribcage.

Sometime later, the trio was back on the road on their home.Throughout the silent drive, Alec was in deep thought about those demons. Even though the system haf told him the name of the creature, he still couldn't help but want to know more about it.

"I wanna about those creatures from earlier. What are they?" Alec finally asked, not minding if Miss arrogant Kim was there.

Alec bothered not to look at Kim knowing she would ignore him so he had his eyes fixed on Karg as he asked the question.

"Those creatures that attacked us a while ago are referred to as Demons. They are foggy humanoid black bat-winged creatures that have no genuine physique structure. Most of them need vessels or bodies to possess before they could be able to blend into the human world. Their nature makes them possess human beings to allow them to cowl their identity," Karg paused for a while before he continued.

"The strength of a demon depends on its class, rank, and tier. The demons that were massacred a while ago were the weakest tier of the created class. I guess they probably escaped the laboratory where they were being experimented on. By merely looking at demons one should be able to identify the class but not rank. The ranking has no distinguishable feature in the appearance of a demon so It can't be determined by mere looks, unlike the class."

Kim wasn't pleased with how her dad was being extraordinarily nice to the boy. She was wondering why her father had been so nice to the boy. Not like Karg wasn't nice to others just that it was very rare to see him pique interest in useless things.

'What if the boy was a high-class demon spy, sent to spy on our family?' Kimberley couldn't help but worry as she still found it skeptical how one could be totally ignorant of how life works.

Even a newbie on earth could easily tell the common mortal enemies of mankind.

Alec felt really bad that he was unable to complete the quest he had received from the system. That incident with the demons reminded him of how weak he still was.

He was so weak that he wasn't even able to move an inch away from where he was standing when the half-dead demon came speeding toward him.

"This implies that they are still stronger ranked demons, out there," Alec couldn't help but ponder over it.

He felt useless, knowing that he couldn't even be able to take out the lowest rank of all demons.

"I think I will have to get stronger to protect my pathetic life in this new world." Alec thought.

"Oh gosh, why did i land here of all place?" Alec cried inwardly as he shook his head in frustration

"Azalea was more peaceful," Alec thought but remembering he was now a fugitive, thought otherwise.

Taking a look at the quest the second time, Alec thought about how he was gonna turn a hideous creature like a demon into his slave. As if the system heard his thoughts, it automatically opened a tab.

Meanwhile back at Azalea, inside the woods, a group of people surrounded a dark, not too deep hole

"I think the boy fell inside this hole," one of the officers said, pointing at the small hole.

"How sure are you that this was where he fell into?" The village chief asked in annoyance

"I heard a scream from this path when we were walking past here. So having no hiding place here, I finalized he must have fallen inside this hole," the officer claimed.

"That's a piece of unbiased information. You all should take a look at the insides of the hole and see how shallow it is in-depth," A senior rank officer said. Heeding his suggestion and looking into the hole, they all realized how shallow it was.

"How careless were you people to let him escape without getting punished! That bastard almost killed my brother. Find that idiot. I want him to serve his punishment!" Elva barked in anger with a visible vein popping out of her head.

"Let's just pray he managed to sneak back into town. That way, we can easily catch him and burn him right away," the village chief said in anger. But that wasn't the main point of his anger.

He was angrier at what happened to him during Alec's escape. He passed out on his way to Alec's cell room and had regained consciousness a few meters away from the station's back door.

He thanked his stars that he had gone out of that hallway earlier before the loud call of Alec's escape was made, or else everyone could have thought he aided him to escape.

"Just what the heck happened to me during the escape of that bastard?" The village chief muttered in confusion.

"Find the boy and bring him back before sun rise," the head officer commanded his subordinate who left afterward.

Not too long after the officers left, the village chief joined them, leaving only the head officer and Elva still still in the forest.

"I'm sorry Elvarin, It happened all of a sudden. Believe me when I say I know nothing about how the boy managed to get away from the chains nor to talk more of the door and even walking past the guar-"

"Just shut up. If ever you want me back in your arms again, then you have to find that boy and give him his due punishments, else forget about me," Elva hissed, interrupting him before making her way out of the forest

"Fuck you boy! I will kill you myself if I ever lay my eyes on you!" The head guard gritted in anger before following Elva out of the forest.
