Chapter 24: Escape Phase 1

Like this the gang planned the route they would to use to escape leaving out their windows snaking through the forest headed south. Before they left Max suggested when they make their escape also cover themselves in dirt and whatever they could find outside even trash as to cover their scent so they are not tracked down so easily.

After they planned their route the system had actually memorized it for Van, while Max had a picture and they told Erika to destroy the physical copy or to find a more secure place to keep it. She decided she would keep the copy underneath her clothes and on her person at all times.

Once everything was situated it was getting close to 11pm when all the orphans were supposed to either be in their room, or another orphans room. After 11 the room they were in was the room they were required to stay the night in.

When Van got into his room he did some static exercises and stretches, just because he couldn't go to the field and run didn't mean he didn't want to continue exercising and besides once he got out of the orphanage with Max and Erika he'd be able to exorcise all the time if he wanted so it was best to start now.

After his exorcise he didn't see an immediate gain in stat points like last time, so he just got up washed up and hopped in bed.

The next day he woke up and it was a normal day, he Erika and Max got together for their meals and hung out in the gaming lounge where Max and Van would play video games that Van lost just about every game not understanding how Max was so good at video games. He could only attribute it to the fact that this was his second life.

And like this three days passed where they would eat and hang out Erika would play games with them every now and then but she wasn't too into gaming surprisingly she was better than Van even though he spent so much time playing games in the lounge.

This left Van feeling down but when he remembered they had to escape from here it lightened his mood as losing in a video game wouldn't be half as bad as if they failed to escape.

The three days were quiet and there were no changes in the ability canceling machine. But on the fourth day while Van, Max and Erika were in the gaming lounge Van heard the system say something to him for the first time in a few days.

[Large energy fluctuations detected, the host is advised to hasten his escape plans.] the system sounded in Van's mind.

'F^~*' Van thought as they were planning on mobilizing their escape their plan on the night of the fifth day as it allowed them the most time to observe and make preparations. They spent the past 4 days covertly gathering all the dirty and clean sheets they could while also monitoring the staff and the frequency in staff rotation.

These past few days they would all check out their windows periodically through the night and report the changes they'd all notice on the campus. Surprisingly they had seen absolutely nothing every night causing the trepidation they felt in their hearts to rise.

Still they knew no matter what they had to escape it was either get out of here alive or share the whereabouts of their bodies with God and God alone.

Van had got up and yawned and nodded his head to Max and Erika. This was the signal they decided to use when it was the time to begin the execution of their plan.

They all got up and bid their usual farewell while also roaming around the unrestricted areas of the campus as according to their plan.

This was phase one of the plan that they originally were going to do tomorrow during the day but if van gave the signal there had to be a good reason to be executing the plan sooner.

Phase one was to spread their scent as far and in as many places they could through the campus just to increase the difficulty to track them once they did start their escape.

Their were certain protocols that were followed when one of the orphans was caught out of their room at night. They'd all be called to the auditorium and have a mass roll call where everyone had to walk across the stage so with the 12,000 orphans they were guaranteed at least 4 hours before it was confirmed to be them that escaped and for the man hunt to truly begin.
