Chapter 3: CHAPTER THREE: A THREE-CARD SPREAD
Cassian was born of both Markarian and Arcturus blood. The union between his mother and father was not punishable by death but by exilation. Since his father was an Arcturus wolf and his mother a Markarian, they lived amongst the Arcturus wolves. His mother was the only outcast amongst them seeing as the three packs married their own. She was treated badly. She wasn't whole heartedly welcomed but she endured. Cassian was called an outcast. He grew up with people calling himmany names but still when he became old enough he was chosen as Orion's; the Arcturus wolves alpha, beta. Even though he had a different blood line from the rest, they had to respect him.
His parents had a little problem with him. He was ready passed the mating age yet he hadn't found a suitable mate.
"Son, when will you grant us the happiness of holding our grandson?" Astra asked concerned standing by her husband; Harlin side.
"Mother I've told you. There's so much work to do for the pack to thrive. I don't want to let Orion and Arcturus wolves down that's why I've decided to rid myself of that pleasure" Cassian explained.
"Cassian, don't be too hard on yourself. You deserve to be loved by a woman even amidst this whole trouble the ...now please if you would excuse me" Cassian said then he left his parents sight.
Meanwhile, at the Crescents territory, Lucius had ordered his Zeta's and Eta's (werewolf warriors) to remind the Crescent wolves of the consequences that will befall upon them if they were ever to go against Elijah's wishes.
"Who is the enemy!" Klay shouted and the crowd responded in unison shouting "the Markarians and the Arcturus'!"
"And what happens when they cross our paths?!" Klay asked.
"We show them no mercy!" The crowd replied.
"Remember, if anyone is caught with the enemy, death follows next. So be careful, or it's your head on a silver platter" Klay declared then rounded off his warriors. He reported back to Lucius and told him that it seemed everything was in order.
"The young girl might be wrong, who knows" Klay suggested.
"I wanted to believe that she was but then before I had Crescentia lock her up, she read my card..." Lucius said as he slowly drifted through memory lane.
FLASHBACK
"A three-card spread" Idryssa said after shuffling the cards with bitterness in her tone. Then she ordered Lucius to pick three cards.
"The first represents your past, the second your present and the third your future" Idryssa said. Lucius showed Idryssa his first card and on it was the six of wands.
"The leader that lead his people to victory through heroic acts and clarity under pressure" Idryssa claimed which was true. The Crescents chose him as aloha because he saved his people from the war against the Markarians and the Arcturus'. Lucius then showed Idryssa his second card.
"The devil. You enjoy creating chaos. Your motives may be for vengeance or your just simply an irritant. They will cost you in the long run..even though they seem amusing to you now" Idryssa claimed.
"These cards don't lie" Lucius jeered then he showed her the last card.
"The ten of swords" Idryssa said with an evil grin, then followed a mocking laughter.
"There's no hope for revival. A limit has been reached, a line has been crossed and there is no turning back. It represents finality...the end of your reign. What goes around comes around Lucius" Idryssa declared.

"The girl is truly what she says she is" Klay admitted.
"Which is why we must do whatever it takes to keep that prophecy from coming true. That witch said it begins with the child's birth, so it means the child hasn't been born yet. Therefore any male child born between now and three months from now should be killed, is that understood?" Lucius declared.
"Very well friend" Klay said.

Lyra was a Crescent wolf. She lived with her younger sister Cersei. Cersei looked out for her sister whenever she crossed the territorial waters that divided the Crescents from the Arcturus' to meet her lover; Cassian. After Klay's declaration that day, she still decided to go visit him.
"Sister you heard what Klay said, it will be your head on a silver platter and not Cassian's" Cersei said trying to convince her sister not to leave.
"This visit is important...he has to...he has to know that I'm carrying his baby" Lyra said. Her words put Cersei in shock.
"This is bad. Where will you stay because that baby will not survive here? They will sniff him out " Cersei asked.
"Cassian will know what to do" Lyra hoped. She left to meet Cassian at their spot where they normally met. When she got there, he was already waiting for her.
"My love" Lyra cried out as she jumped unto his arms. He hugged her tightly then slowly rose her head up and laid a light kiss on her lips.
"I have missed you so much my love" Cassian confessed full of excitement.
"There's a problem Cassian... I'm having our baby"
"That's not possible... I made sure that..." Cassian stutterd in disbelief.
"It's the truth Cassian. I can't give birth to the baby there" Lyra said pointing towards the direction of the Crescent wolves territory.
"You have to do something or else they are going to kill I and the baby" Lyra begged. Cassian thought for a short while then finally came up with a decision.
"Come with me" Cassian said.
"What?" Lyra asked confused.
"You and the baby will live with me. I'll make sure no harm comes to any of you" Cassian assured.
"But your people, will they not kill me if they find out who I am?" Lyra asked.
"You'll be in hiding till the baby is born, then you'll go back and I'll take care of our little one... I never wanted this life for us Lyra, this life were we would have to hide our love from our people"
"It's not your fault my love. I understand the sacrifices we have to make, and I'm willing to fight till my last breath to protect our baby"
"Let us go" Cassian said as he held Lyra by the waist and led her to his home. Little did they know that they were being watched by one of Cassians men; Garven who had discreetly followed him as he meet his secret lover. He was furious that Cassian would treat the enemy as such. The Arcturus wolves were very accepting but they bad zero tolerance for the Crescents except during cases of a young or a pregnant Crescent wolf and since Cassian's mate was pregnant, Garven decided to leave without causing a scene.
