Chapter 2: Prologue

Eldor ... an Island in Azil's south sea's. And Island where ever sins the Elven conquests, peace rained supreme and lasted for over a hundred years. The elves who where pushed back to their majestic ancestral city of Iluria now keep to their own and the city gates remain closed. Keeping all their magical knowledge hidden in their spiraling towers that can be seen from far and wide. The only elves outside Iluria are the ancient druids of the forest who keep their existence mostly a secret while tending towards Eldors wilds.

The humans, dwarves and fauns who claimed victory over the elves so many years ago now ruled the vast majority of Eldor. From the borders of Iluria across the southern barrens with all its mines and mining settlements. To Reglia, Eldors biggest port and trading hub, true the Silver forest all the way up to the city of Dalin. Their seat of power however was Baldrum. Originally a small outpost in the heart of Eldor, that expanded during the war to the vast city it is today. Its walls running for miles and streets bustling with life. King Brinof ruled for years and made Baldrum prosper, earning the love and loyalty of his people. However when he passed at the ripe age of 83 the crown passed to his son Harald who was nothing like his father. Parties and decadence where the norm during his adolescence with only court mage Dalien to rain the young king in. He lived isolated in his gulden castle in Baldrums center and rarely leaves its comfortable interior. In truth it was Dalien who ruled and Harald who was all to eager to claim the praise.

Then there is the east. The small city of Valiant being the edge of king Haralds realm and the pass between the Edge mountains, the beginning of the orcs realm. A lush jungle stretching all the way to the east shore with all sorts of races calling it their home. Centaurs, dryads, goblins, trolls and the orcs who ruled them all from their capital katrath. After fighting alongside the humans and driving back the elves relationships soured quickly as the Orcs remain a very primal race and honor and combat stands central in their beliefs. They rarely venture beyond Valiant where they sometimes trade for iron witch is scares in the east but mined in abundance in the barrens by the dwarfs.

A harmony was found between all and the 3 main faction and everyone kept to their slice of Eldor until ... until IT happened. Overnight the Easter jungle shriveled and its soil turned to ash. Over the years many adventurers and scholars made their way in the so called deadsea but none ever returned and the mystery of its existence only grew. The real trouble however began when the eastern races sought refuge and migrated towards Eldors north shores and erected the city of Rise. Consequently spilling over into the city of Dalin and making it grow exponentially with their shear numbers. This however did not sit well with king Harald who saw it as an invasion into his own lands. And before long skirmishes started to break out, fracturing the peace that lasted for so long. King Harald reached out towards the Elves and The Covenant was formed. An alliance only in name and something for the king to hide behind. The elves in reality did not mix into the escalating conflict.

Far from all this strife lived a young boy in blissful ignorance on the outskirts of the Silver forest. Together with his parents he worked the lands on their family farm and talks of war and armies only spoke to his imagination. Yet it is here where our story takes root and the Cromwell legend begins ...
