Chapter 5: Chapter Five- Zeng Xifeng

Far away from the place the father and son duo were sitting, was a mountain range. The mountains were covered with greenery and you could see the colorful birds flying around them. The mountains themselves reached the very top of the sky, piercing through the clouds. The valleys had many ancient structures. There were big pavilions and teahouses, along with huge buildings like pagodas and palaces that would put even the grandest Imperial Palaces of the mortal world to shame. People would be walking and flying from here to there, everything a beautiful sight to behold. Some would challenge each other to fights, and others would keep flying while talking and giggling. Rivers flowed from the top of the mountains at insane speeds, and you could see fish and other mythical creatures jumping about in the water.

On one of the mountains was a small pavilion. There sat a youth seemingly in his late teens, he was looking out into the sky. Taking in its beauty and appreciating the better parts of life. This youth was Zeng Xiaoyu, he was a cultivator, but not just any cultivator. He was one of the Five Suns of the cultivation world. The Five Suns were the five most talented disciples of the Five Greats on Crimson Petal. In status, they were only inferior to the Legacy Disciples of the Ancestors, but they were rarely seen, so the Five Suns became the representatives for their sects and organizations of the new generation.

Zeng Xiaoyu trained with the previous Sun of his sect. He was the second in his generation. He had black eyes and hair even darker than his eyes. Wherever he went he was the center of attention, even some of the elders respected him, not because of his position but rather because he didn't flaunt it. He was a simple man, he would do whatever he felt was right. He didn't take himself to be different from others of his generation. His title was only a title for him, not some privilege to show off and look down on others.

He would spend most of his time drifting his thoughts like he was now. While gazing, he spotted a few friends. He was about to get up when something in his robes flew out. It was a token of jade that looked exactly like the one Wei Chao's father had. It glittered with pink light, swinging left and right in front of Zeng Xiaoyu. When Zeng Xiaoyu saw the jade, his eyes widened and he immediately grabbed it out of the air.

"Elder martial sister Zeng, I finally got a clue. I'll find you no matter what." Zeng Xiaoyu mumbled this to himself while observing the jade token.

He headed in the direction of one of the biggest valleys, more specifically a certain structure. It was at the very center, and one of the biggest within the entire sect.

Upon entering he bowed and greeted, " Disciple Zeng Xiaoyu asks to have an audience with master."

A loud laughter came from inside, "Haha, how many times do I have to tell you, you don't have to be so formal with me? I'm not that old of a man. Tell me, what's wrong?"

Zeng Xiaoyu walked inside, he walked through the luxurious hallway decorated with gold and silver. There were many other artifacts on display. In fact, even one of these objects would be worth more than anything you could find in the mortal world.

He reached the main hall and once again clasped hands and bowed. There was an elderly man who sat on a throne placed on a platform raised from the rest of the hall. He reappeared in front of Zeng Xiaoyu and slapped him gently on the back.

"Haha, you bastard. Are you mocking me? I said I am not those old geezers who command utmost unnecessary respect."

Zeng Xiaoyu ignored his words and said, "Master, elder martial sister Zeng…"

With that, he pulled out the Jade Identity and it started glittering pink again. When the old man saw the jade he snatched it from Zeng Xiaoyu's hands. He placed the token up against his forehead and after a few minutes, he opened his eyes. The jade dropped from his grip, and his eyes turned watery. He fell down to the floor and started mumbling.

"Xifeng… I told you not to leave. Look what happened. Why couldn't you listen to this old man?"

The man seemed to be crying and laughing at the same time. He slammed his head into the floor many times and started pulling out his hair. He would claw at the air in front of him, and rub his already swollen eyes monstrously. Zeng Xiaoyu watched him do all this, if he didn't know what happened then he was not worthy of being one of the Five Suns. He dropped to the ground as well but quickly regained his senses. He went up to the old man and grabbed his hands.

He said in his trembling voice, "Master, you must stop. You cannot do this to yourself."

The old man glared at Zeng Xiaoyu and muttered, "I allowed her to go to planet Dark Heat, I made a mistake once… Then I allowed her to leave the sect. What an idiot. How could I be so… I led Xifeng to it. She said she regarded me as her father. Father, my ass."

The old man coughed up blood and fell flat down on his chest. His wailing died down. Zeng Xiaoyu couldn't do much, he rushed out of the building and headed towards the tallest mountain to look for the Sect Leader. The guards saw him approaching at immense speed. They couldn't see exactly who it was. They got in the way and put on red masks. Around them faces of blood appeared, ready to attack. Zeng Xiaoyu burst past them and shouted, "Fuck off!"

The guards recognized the voice, they quickly went back to their positions and breathed a sigh of relief. They knew they didn't stand a chance against Zeng Xiaoyu, though they were surprised. The man who was known to have the most tranquil personality was cursing openly at his own sect members.

Zeng Xiaoyu blasted through the walls to reach the hall. When he felt pressure crushing down on him he yelled, "Sect Leader, master! He's in a bad condition. You must check it out."

The Sect Leader was a smart man, he knew if Zeng Xiaoyu was acting like this it was no small matter. He loosened the pressure and disappeared. Reappearing outside of the old man's residence. He flew in and saw the old man lying motionless on the floor. His eyes widened and he appeared before him. He quickly blasted some invisible energy into the old man, but he still didn't move. He turned the old man's body over and again channeled energy into him. After a while, he stopped. He got up and bowed to the old man's body.

This was when Zeng Xiaoyu charged in, when he saw the Sect Leader bowing down to the old man's body, he increased his speed. The Sect Leader got up and looked towards Zeng Xiaoyu and murmured, "We cultivators are fragile beings as well. We might have ascended the limitations of mortals but we kept our emotions. Your master's Dao Heart was shattered. He lost his cultivation base and perished. He was a simple man, true to his emotions. It was what people liked about him. It was also the thing that led to his death."

Zeng Xiaoyu quietly listened to him. He felt like crying but it would not bring his master or his martial sister back. He whispered, "So you always knew what happened to her? What exactly happened, how could it have such an effect on master?"

The Sect Leader frowned, he wasn't surprised: Zeng Xiaoyu was a smart individual and he knew that. He started, "I kept the fact from him because I was afraid of this happening. You're right, Xifeng didn't die from her injuries. She was killed by that bastard. He personally came and broke the news to me… He killed my sect's disciple and claimed to do so to my face. Fuck me, the Sect Leader who couldn't do anything in such circumstances." He burst out laughing. He looked at the jade and picked it up, scanning it his eyes widened.

Zeng Xiaoyu was feeling lost, he didn't feel like moving at all, but when he saw the Sect Leader's expression a tiny spark of hope sparked within him.

"Xifeng had a son before dying." When Zeng Xiaoyu heard this, he clasped hands and then left with the jade.

"Master sent so many people to look out for her, how strong could this bastard be? I must find elder sister's son. I will take him under my wing and lead him on the path of cultivation as she did to me. I shall lay out the path for him to avenge his mother."
