Chapter 14: Ch 10: Wes VS Brock
Wes together with Endou left during the morning in order to reach Pewter City. After 1 and a half hours the pair finally reached Pewter City. When Wes reached Pewter City his mind suddenly traveled in the past. Remembering the time, that he started playing his first game .Pokemon Yellow. He could still clearly picture a certain roadblock that forced hin in a deadlock for almost a 2 weeks. Because he didn't read what the clerk in the Pokemart in Viridian City told him about the parcel he couldn't pass the old man in order to reach Viridian Forest. He managed to do it after 12 days, reaching Pewter City with a LV 28 Pikachu.
( AUTHOR: Yes that embarrassing thing happened to me in my first Pokemon game Fire Red. I didn't know English that well back then so when i finally reached Pewter City i actually had a LV 28 Charmeleon.)
" Ahhhhh. Sweet nostalgic memories full of stupidity."
Wes and Endou after a bit of time reached the Gym and endeared inside. Wes gave his information to the receptionist and was informed that he will fight Brock in a 3VS3 single format. Wes went to the waiting area while Endou moved towards the stands.
While Wes endeared the waiting room he realised his Pokemon.
WES: OK. For this Gym Bulbasaur you are first. Eevee you are second. Umbreon you will face the ace of this gym Leader.
The three Pokemon participating in this battle screamed with joy. Metapod was pretty relaxed and calm. While Wes had to console his Nidoran♂ that he will get to fight in the next Gym getting the approval of his Nidoran♂.
The half an hour preparation time finally passed and Wes reached the arena and stood in the opposite corner than the half naked Gym Leader Brock.
BROCK: Welcome challenger to the Gym of Pewter City. You are the third one from Pallet town to challenge me this week.
WES: I see. So did they win?
BROCK: Yes. That kid Garry won thanks to his Water Spout Squirtle. As for the female one, i believe i Don't need to explain.
"Of course you don't. Leaf is a Grass Type trainer."
WES: Thanks for telling me.
BROCK: Ok then then. The battle begins
Then Wes realised his Bulbasaur while Brock summoned his Geodude.
BROCK: A Bulbasaur? Your female friend also had one. It even managed to evolve after our fight.
"I see. So Leaf already has an Ivysaur."
WES: Yes i found it in Viridian Forest.
BROCK: So? it isn't your first Pokemon. Ok enough talking. Geodude Rock Polish.
WES: Bulbasaur Swords Dance.
Bulbasaur rised his Attack stat by 2 stages while Geodude did the same think for its Speed stat.
BROCK: Geodude use Power-Up-Punch.
WES: Bulbasaur use Sleep Powder.
Then Geodude hit Bulbasaur with its Power-Up-Punch Move Knocking it back, but Bulbasaur still managed to use its Sleep Powder Move putting Geodude to Sleep.
"That's why Bulbasaur was considered the best and most optimal choice of the trio of starter Kanto Region Pokemon."
WES: Bulbasaur use Seed Bomb.
Then Bulbasaur thew a wave of big seeds that when they came in contact with the ground or the Geodude, exploded Immediately. The +2 Attack Bulbasaur plus the 4 times weakness to Grass Type Moves was to much for Geodude to withstand.
BROCK: Nice strategy. Ok Rhyhorn its your turn.
WES: Bulbasaur return back. Eevee take the stage.
Then Wes in a move that shoked Brock. Called his Bulbasaur that had the Type advantage against Brock's Rock Type Pokemon in order to use a Normal Type Eevee that has a disadvantage against Rock type Pokemon. Eevee appeared with a look full of battle intent.
BROCK: Why did you switch your Bulbasaur? He could defeat my Rhyhorn with the type advantage and his increased Attack thanks to Sword Dance.
WES: Actually the reason is pretty simple. I want give more experience to my whole team than simply training a single one
BROCK: I see. But you will need to have a suprise Move if you want your Normal Type Pokemon to defeat my Rhyhorn.
WES: I might just have one in store for you. Ok Eevee use Tail Whip.
BROCK: Rhyhorn use Furry Attack.
Then Eevee moved her tail in a cute way lowering Rhyhorn's Defense stat by 1 stage while Rhyhorn hit Eevee three times in quick succession with its Furry Attack Move.
WES: Eevee Tail Whip again.
BROCK: Rhyhorn Horn Attack.
Eevee did the same thing as before while Rhyhorn tried to hit Eevee with it's Horn Attack Move. But Eevee managed to dodge to the right.
WES: Eevee Tail Whip again.
BROCK: Rhyhorn Scarry Face.
Eevee for the third time use its Tail Whip Move while Brock seeing that Wes's Eevee is way faster than his Rhyhorn ordered his Rhyhorn to use Scary Face in order to halve Eevee's Speed stat.
WES: Eevee Tail Whip again
(Ok. -4 Defense should do the trick.)
BROCK: Rhyhorn Thunder Fang.
Eevee yet again used the same Move making Brock wonder what is the strategy of Wes. At the same time Rhyhorn hit Eevee with its Thunder Fang Move. Eevee with -2 stages in her Speed stat wasn't able to dodge Rhyhorn this time.
BROCK: Ok Rhyhorn use Pursuit.
WES: Eevee Detect then Double Kick.
Brock decided to use Pursuit thinking that Wes strategy was to lower the Defense of his Rhyhorn as much as possible with his Eevee, so that he can switch her for the next Pokemon, to have a better chance at defeating his Rhyhorn. He also had that Bulbasaur that can use the Sword Dance Move. But he got it Wrong. Eevee using the Detect Move, avoided Rhyhorn's attack and countered instantly with her Double Kick Move. This attack from Eevee knocked back the Rhyhorn in a huge spire made of hard rock. Brock's Ryhorn had totally fainted.
BROCK: WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?
Brock mind was completely blown away. His prediction of the strategy that Wes was using had completely been wrong. Now he was in a really bad situation. He only had his ace Onix left. While Wes had a Fully battle ready Pokemon that was unknown to him. The weakened Eevee. And the Bulbasaur that defeated his Geodude while it received one attack that it resisted.
BROCK: You really put me in a tight spot. ONIX TURN THE TABLES AROUND.
Brock called Onix out with all his soul determined to not lose in such a way. Wes on the other hand recalled back his Eevee for his Umbreon. Shocking Brock one more time in this fight. Brock as a Gym Leader new about all the Types and Pokemon that existed. The shock came because he knew that the Kanto region has no Dark Type Pokemon. So seeing a beginner trainer with one was quite the novelty
BROCK: A Dark Type. That's quite rare.
WES: Yes. My Second Eevee evolved into it when we were training in Viridian Forest.
BROCK: Ok then. Let's see how strong it is. Onix use Curse.
WES: Umbreon use Curse
Then Both Onix And Umbreon were enveloped by a mysterious energy rising their Attack and Defence stat by one stage, while also lowering their Speed stat by one stage.
BROCK: Onix use Rock Tomb.
WES: Umbreon use Protect.
Then Umbreon was enveloped by a dome made of green light while huge boulders fall on top of it. The huge boulders bounced off when they hit the green dome.
BROCK: Tch. Onix Twister
WES: Umbreon use Tail Whip.
Then Umbreon moved his tail in a cute way doing the same thing that Eevee did to Rhyhorn. Then Umbreon was enveloped by a tornado 🌪️ full of draconic energy. The Twister Move of Onix wasn't able to throw Umbreon in the air. Also the damage Umbreon received was quite insignificant. ( Umbreon has an amazing 130 base SPDef stat while Onix has only 30 base SPAtk).
BROCK: Tail Whip again???? Onix use Curse.
WES: Curse Umbreon.
Then Umbreon and Onix did the same think again. Brock was getting quite annoyed right now. This challenger was a pain in the ass to fight. He had been defeated from previous challengers before. But this is the first time that he fought someone with such an annoying strategy. Endou on the stands was quite amazed as well. This is the first time in his life that he had seen such an expression in Brock's face.
BROCK: Onix Bind.
WES: Umbreon use Protect then Tail Whip.
Then the green protective dome covered Umbreon again while while Onix's body was deflected by the dome
WES: Umbreon Curse.
BROCK: Onix Heavy Slam.
Then Umbreon was enveloped in a mysterious energy while Onix slammed Umbreon with all its weight
WES: Umbreon Wish.
Before Brock could react, he saw a star ⭐ falling from the sky. He immediately thought: There's no way this pank.
BROCK: Onix Heavy Slam again.
WES: Umbreon Protect.
Then Umbreon yet again was enveloped by the green dome while, suprise suprise Onix body bounced off the protective dome. After that a light coming straight from the heavens enveloped Umbreon healing all the damage Umbreon received in this Battle.
BROCK: Youuuuuuu!!!!!!
Poor Brock was really in great frustration in this fight. While the first battle with Geodude and Bulbasaur ended pretty swiftly. The fight with Wes's Eevee and especially that Umbreon made him think, himself as a baby fighting a veteran. He literally couldn't do anything in this fight.
" I see. Someone's getting impatient. Ok let's do this to end this fight faster."
Wes could see Brock gritting his teeth, so he gave a strange order to his Umbreon that confused Brock even more.
WES: Umbreon do you see this broken spire.
Wes was showing Umbreon the spire that broke from Eevee using Double Kick on Rhyhorn.
UMBREON: ????????????????
Umbreon was totally confused as for the reason his trainer told him while he was fighting about this.
WES: This Onix smashed Eevee right through it.
Umbreon after hearing this immediately turned stiff while Brock was completely confused as to what Wes was planning now by saying that lie to his Umbreon. Then a murderous intent so thick that would even make Ghost Type Pokemon faint or pee themselves in fright was emitted from Umbreon.
UMBREON: UUUUUUMBRREEEEOOOOON!!!!!!!!!
A wild roar was heard coming from Umbreon's throat similar to Zebra using his Noooooiseee BazucAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Endou and Brock almost pished their pants from this cry.
WES: Ok Umbreon Pursuit.
Then before Brock could give an order to his Onix Umbreon hit it sending Onix backwards. Onix actually managed to hit the back of his head on the ground.
BROCK: Onix Heavy Slam.
Then Onix slammed Umbreon with all its strength and weight, but suddenly its slam stopped when it came in contact with Umbreon. Umbreon was covered in a very thick dark and malicious energy, showing fully, why the Dark Type, before being registered as an official Pokemon Type, was called the Evil Type by the majority of this world's population.
Then Onix was smashed high in the sky. Onix being very big almost hit the ceiling of the Gym. After that thanks to Onix's big weight he fell fast and with a powerful BANNNNNNNNGG!!!!! into the ground creating a huge crater. Brock's mouth was open wide so much that, you could easily fit a baby Voltrob in his mouth. His usually almost closed eyes, were wide open. This was simply too much. This small Pokemon managed to send his Onix right into the sky flying like a Pidgey. Endou in the stands was so shocked by that, he actually realised his Pinsir and ordered it to slap him to see if he was dreaming. The pain he felt from the slap made him realise, that what happened was totally real. Wes was also shocked by what Umbreon did and immediately checked Umbreon's summary with his system.

Moves: Tackle, Growl, Helping Hand, Curse (Baby), Wish (Baby), Sand Attack, Pursuit, Quick Attack, Double Kick (Tutor), Hyper Beam (Tutor), Confuse Ray, Protect (TM), Payback (Tutor).
" oooofff. So it somehow comprehended the Payback Move (Power doubles if the user was attacked first.) A +3 Payback Move that had it's power doubled and was also a stab Move. No surprise it managed to send Onix flying.
Wes relaxed a bit after seeing this but there was someone with a completely different reaction. Onix managing to lift up its body from inside the huge crater with a lot of difficulty was terrified. With what happened right now plus the thick murderous intent in the air. In addition to the Glowing, like a sun rings in its opponents body, the completely murderous red eyes and a smile so menacing that only a murderer would have. Made Onix so scared of its safety that it was actually screaming to its trainer to return it back into its Pokeball. Of course its trainer Brock and Wes being human beings, understood nothing of Onix's pleas and cry's for help. Wes watching the almost knocked out Onix, gave the final order of this battle.
WES: Umbreon Hyper Beam.
Then Umbreon charged and launched a black purplish ray that slammed directly in the head of Onix knocking back. Brock actually had to dodge because the Onix would have fallen on top of him. Onix fainted and this long battle was finally over.
After both trainers returned their Pokemon back. the met again in the reception of the Gym. Endou also came from the stands with a stupified expression on his face. Brock on the other hand looked completely exhausted. This battle has taken a toll on him both physically and mentally.
BROCK: I present you with the Boulder Badge. Now you can also choose a Rock Tomb TM or an Iron Vitamin. Also here 10000 Pokedolars for your win.
WES: Thanks for the amazing fight. I choose the Iron Vitamin.
Brock gave a dry cackle and gave Wes his prizes for wining.
WES: heard that you actually are a very good breeder. Do happen to have your own recipe of Pokemon food.
Most Gym Leaders were also good at breeding. Brock's actual side occupation was that of a Pokemon Breeder.
BROCK: Yes. I have my own made Pokemon food how much do you need?
WES: Five kilogrammes. Is it possible to order some also if it ends.
BROCK: Yes it's possible. But you need to order in advance because i don't make tons of it. Also my Pokemon Food gives all the important nutrients to the Pokemon but was an emphasis on the Defense and SPDefence of the Pokemon.
WES: I see. Its perfect how match?
BROCK: For Five kilogrammes it costs 4500 Pokedolars.
WES: WOW. It's cheaper than i expected.
BROCK: Well you buy it directly from the source.
WES: You're right about that.
Then Wes, Endou and Brock said their goodbyes with Brock wishing to Arceus to never have to fight fight this annoying bastard again. Then Wes and Endou left the Gym.
