Chapter 6: Offended

Jayna blinked, making sure the figure in front of her wasn't imaginary. Edward turned towards the voice calling his friend's name.

"Yeah. you're Leina? I'm desperate. I was a little unsure it was you" Jayna stammered.

"Why didn't you tell me if you moved here?" Leina protested.

Edward, with all of his sensitivity, gave his chair for Leina to sit down and pulled out another chair.

"Oh. Leina, this is Edward my friend" I let them both shake hands and introduce each other's names.

"By the way, How are you Jay? Why is your number so hard to contact?" Leina glared at Jayna.

"I happened to lose my old cell phone, so I changed my number and my old contacts just disappeared," Jayna explained at length about the loss of the old cellphone.

"You can share it through social media, Jay." Leina is still looking for a loophole. Jayna just smiled wryly.

'I don't think we'll ever meet again, so why do I have to?' Jayna thought.

"Yes, I hope you understand Lei. Jayna is indeed an insensitive person, if she doesn't have any plans to meet anyone, don't expect to hear anything" Edward quipped Jayna.

"Oh, you've got an ally, Ed?" Jayna pinched the back of Edward's hand.

Leina laughed at the two people in front of her that time.

Starting from there, only a few hours later Leina and Edward had started to get along like an old friends. They are very match when they make jayna cornered and laugh.

Leina was not as close as Jayna and Edward's friendship, but she was a friend who Jayna pushed far away, but she was still closer and closer to Jayna. I don't know what she expects from Jayna. But Leina wasn't an unpleasant person, it was just that being around her was like being around a magnet. Attracts a lot of things to come towards her without being asked. Leina wasn't comfortable with it actually, as she was telling Jayna that honestly.

"Come on Ed, you better go home. Wash your feet and sleep soundly." Jayna chased away Edward who had asked Ash for indomi gravy.

"Jay, can I stay here, okay?" Edward came up with a ridiculous idea that made Jayna gasp to hear it.

"Hah?! Are you crazy?! There is no stay here. Go back home!! I want to take a rest!!" Jayna threw the chair cushion at Edward who was grinning.

"Come on Jay, there are many rooms in this house. empty anyway. Instead of being held by a ghost, it's better if this handsome man stays the night." Edward was still trying.

"It's better for a ghost to stay overnight, than a nuisance human like you staying." Jayna didn't give a chance.

"You want to stay up all night and then I have to listen to all of your tiring love stories?" added Jayna. Edward's smile followed.

"Tomorrow morning I have to meet a client, have you forgotten?"Said Jayna again.

"Yes, that's exactly it, just stay here, right? Let's all go together with. You don't have your own vehicle," Edward pleaded.

"No, thanks." said Allen firmly.

"Why no? It's okay if Mr.Edward stays here. It's getting late at night, too bad for Mr.Edward going home alone at this hour." Ash, who came with a tray containing a bowl of noodle soup Edward ordered, interrupted their conversation.

"What the problem, Ash? He will come home early in the morning and it won't be okay," said Jayna once again.

"Yes, Ash, your boss is really cruel" Edward asked for a defense.

"What are you doing, Ed?" Jayna glared.

"It's okay, lady. just make it" Ash persuaded Jayna.

"Well, it's up to you. For sure don't bother me, and don't wake up late. Tomorrow we have an important meeting" Jayna reminded Edward.

"YES!" Edward and Ash did a high five.

Jayna got up from the sofa leaving Edward and his bowl of noodle soup. This wasn't the first time Edward was forced to stay at Jayna's house. During their 2 years of working together, this is the second time Edward has stayed at Jayna's house, the first time because Edward's vehicle suddenly couldn't start.

"Where are you going? Why you let your guests left alone?" Edward sipped his noodles.

"Guests?? Guest that doesn't know their limit, you mean? " Jayna climbed the stairs and Edward just laughed at that.

Jayna knew Edward wouldn't do anything weird even thorugh he was staying there. There is some weird for Jayna, being under the same roof as Edward makes her feel awkward. Jayna rarely saw Edward on weekdays even though they were partners in the same office. Edward who always replaces Jayna to meet important clients or their Secretary, Amee. That's why Jayna feels fine even though they are called to the same office, because in fact they rarely see each other other than because of important things. The rest they will discuss it via telephone or instant message only.

The sound of the bedroom door knocking made Jayna stutter in front of his laptop.

Jayna was working on a presentation for tomorrow's client meeting, with Edward too.

"Jay, I'm in. okay?" said a voice from behind the door.

"Yes" Allen shouted in reply.

"What are you doing?" Edward asked pleasantly.

"Stale you. Disturb" Jayna snapped. Edward threw himself on Jayna's bed.

"Jay, you have no intention of getting married?" Edward's sudden question made Jayna stop her typing activity.

"Are you tired of living, Ed?" Jayna turn over in her chair and glared at Edward.

"Just asking Jay?" Edward calmed Jayna down.

"What's your goal?" Allen lifted his chin.

"Mmh… Nothing. Eh but there is" Edward smirked.

'Oh, so that's right. This crazy child, not without purpose wants to stay here. I guessed it' thought Jayna.

"So, Jay, you know Harry, our client today. He wanted to get to know you better, Jay" Edward stuttered to explain.

"And then? You want to be the matchmaker? What did you get? You think I want to have a personal relationship with a client?" Jayna argued with Edward. Edward had expected this to happen, and of course he was prepared.

"Fine. But there is nothing to lose if you get to know Harry more. I think he's a nice person even though I've only met him a few times." Edward defended himself.

"Since when did your judgment of someone become the benchmark for my love story?" Jayna refused casually and turned to the laptop.

"From the first time we met, you never seemed to like or dating any guy. We've known until now it's been 10 years, man," said Edward.

"Remember, 4 years after graduating from high school, we weren't together. You don't know during those 4 years I liked or who had been dating. Don't be so careless when you say that" Jayna snarled at Edward.

"Is there? Who? Name it? You don't have any boyfriend or just someone you like. Can you name it?" Edward challenged Jayna.

"You don't need to know," said Allen.

"Jay, you forgot huh? Leina my girlfriend, that's for 4 years you mean it's with you. And you think Leina never told me anything about you girl?" Edward said not wanting to lose.

"Sorry, only 3.5 years. We haven't seen each other in half a year and we don't know how each other is." Jayna still didn't accept it.

"Jay, how long are you going to push away everyone who cares about you like this?" Edward was sluggish.

Jayna just stayed silent and continued to stare at his laptop.

"It's getting late Ed, you better go back to the guest room" said Jayna.

Edward got up from Jayna's bed and walked towards the door without saying a word.
