Chapter 15: System's Gifting Function

A shopping mall could be found inside the campus of Lincoln Star as this made it easier for students to buy what they needed especially for emergency supplies. There were also a variety of fast food restaurants.

Hot Pizza was one of them and it was filled with many students a size of one class that was led by one person. It was Xavier.

"You can put everything on this card." Xavier took out a black card and held it in between his index and middle fingers.

His classmates saw the card as they were in utter awe. This guy was really the son of a tycoon! He could even ask his father to buy this place.

The manager was also in disbelief when she saw the card. She thought it was just a random kid trying to show off when he said he would pay for everything his classmates would order.

However, she tried looking up the Zero Family pictures on Moodle search engine and an image of their family portrait showed up.

"Okay." The manager's body was shaking when she accepted the card. She could get the details and use this however, she knew such a powerful family could destroy her if she dared do such a thing.

Xavier ordered and sat with Jayson on a table for two while their classmates were talking and different interests could be heard.

They would talk about cartoons and anime. Some were talking about manga while the girls would talk about foundation and dramas they watched. There was a group of boys who liked sports and videogames.

They were all waiting for the food that Xavier bought for them. He left an impression that he was an approachable person. This was a good deal, too, as he would have less enemies or enmity if he ventured to different businesses.

Jayson was energetic as he would tell Xavier a lot of stories. One story he told him was about a middle-aged man in their neighborhood that won the lottery. He said that the guy was crazy for proclaiming he will get one billion dollars and get even richer.

Xavier was curious as Jayson mentioned that the guy won around one million dollars and he was previously a beggar. This guy wasted all the money in gambling in a casino in Las Vegas. All of his money went to waste and he died of hunger.

Why did he need one billion dollars? Why was he confident he would be even richer after that?

With his memory, he recalled the notification from the system that said 'deposit one billion dollars to activate the system' but he could not trust his memory because of the accident.

A sudden notification appeared in his mind.

Ding.

[Try using <Talent Scout> on a human named Jayson.]

The system really knew when to butt in and not let Xavier suspect it. What a scum.

Xavier was surprised and he had already forgotten about his skill. "How do I activate it?"

[Look at the target and mutter in your mind the phrase 'Check Potential' to activate.]

He looked at Jayson who was still telling him a lot more stories. This time he was talking about a guy he knew that had a successful business but it was ruined because he was greedy with his stocks. He wanted it to reach a billion dollars so he hoarded the shares.

If the system had hands, it would have slapped Jayson's face. Why does this guy know all of the stories about its previous hosts?

[Please try the skill.]

Xavier felt that the system was acting weird but he still did as he was told. 'Check Potential'

<Jayson's Status>

Age: 12 years old

Constitution: The One That Has Leukemia

Talents: None

Skills:

[What's The Latest Story?]. An ability to hear and tell gossip with high accuracy.

Background:

Jayson is from a family of the working-class and his body is currently being attacked by cancer cells. His death is estimated to be around high school.

Xavier's eyes could not help but twitch when he saw the fancy name of the constitution. Was it insulting people with weak and frail bodies?

However, he was also dejected when he remembered that his friend died without his knowledge. In fact, the only time he tried looking for him was after he finished college. He found out that he had long died because of leukemia.

If there was a way to help him, he would absolutely do so.

After this thought from Xavier, a gift button appeared below Jayson's Status Window.

"What is this?" Xavier pointed his index finger at the gift button.

[You can gift anyone with talents and constitutions.]

He sat there with his mouth agape. Suddenly, he felt a sensation touch his index finger.

Jayson's head tilted. "ET phone home?"

Xavier didn't realize that he was doing weird actions in front of Jayson as he just laughed with him.

He now told the system through his mind. 'Give him the best constitution and remove his illness. Also give him a business related talent.'

The reason he wanted Jayson to have a business related talent was so he could break free from their family's current status. Even if they were to go separate ways, he would be confident that Jayson would be doing his best.

[Deducting $3,000,000,000 from your balance.]

'Check Potential.'

<Jayson's Status>

Age: 12 years old

Constitution: Perfect Body

Talents: Business Genius

Skills:

[What's The Latest Story?]. An ability to hear and tell gossip with high accuracy.

Background:

Jayson is from a family of the working-class. He has a great talent that can bring him a lot of fortune in the future.

[Additional information for the host. Business Genius is a talent where a person can think innovatively and there is a high chance for their business to succeed.]

Xavier heaved a sigh of relief. Although it was three billion dollars, it really felt good that he was able to save his true friend. He didn't have to worry about him anymore.

"Xavier, do you know about the Illuminati?" Jayson lowered his voice and looked at him straight in the eyes.

"Why?" Xavier was aware of the Illuminati as this fifteenth century secret organization was the center of most false conspiracies in the world.

"They were studying aliens but they weren't letting us know." Jayson said this with a serious face.

Xavier tried to stop himself from laughing. As a middle school student, it was normal for people to listen to conspiracies and even believe in some of them. It was only through high school and college that one could enhance their critical thinking.

"Is that so?" He looked at Jayson and pretended to be surprised with the revelation.

"Yeah and they are also the one responsible for creating typhoons."

"That's awesome."

"Yeah and also..."

Xavier just let Jayson be happy with the stories he has. After all, there was no use in correcting him now. They were still children and it wasn't bad enjoying fun stories. However, there was a bottom line for conspiracies. If this would affect other people, it should be stopped.

One of the conspiracies was that the pandemic in 2020 was not real. This was dangerous and it would compromise other people's safety.

The food arrived and they ate the food to their hearts' content. Some classmates were shy to order a lot so they just ordered a simple meal while others bought food that they haven't tried yet.

In any case, everyone was grateful to the lunch that Xavier gave them. After all, the tastiest food in the world would be a free one.

They went back to their class room as there were still two subjects that they all needed to attend. After that, the day would be done and Xavier would attend the two hour training with the Basketball Team.

He was excited to practice with a team as the training he went through was only for him. It was still different to work out a play as a team.

As they were walking on the campus grounds, Xavier saw a familiar face. It was Terrence and he was sitting near a tree eating his lunch.

He saw this as an opportunity and he focused his eyes on him. 'Check Potential.'

<Terrence's Status>

[Additional information for the host. Body of Endurance is self-explanatory; you are already a genius. Basketball Master is also self-explanatory. Please don't be dependent on me.]

Xavier's eyes twitched with the notification he received.
