Moving towards the sound, I saw Kakashi and Rin both engaged in battle once again.
I don't get it. Why are they attacking them if they want to make sure that Rin reaches Konoha and unleashes the Three Tails?
Maybe they are just after Kakashi.
Yeah that makes sense.
I jumped down from the tree and threw a few smoke bombs near them. Grabbed both of them by their collars and dragged them away.
"Damn it!! Who was that?"
"Doesn't matter. Find them ASAP. We can't leave the white fang's son alive."
From their conversations, I did confirmed that they are truly after Kakashi only. If it was just Rin then they would simply observe and use weak long range attacks so that their plan succeeds.
I waited for a while to make sure that those Anbus had left and decided to turn to face them. But as I was turning I felt something cold touching my neck.
"Who are you? Why have you been helping us?"
And there was Kakashi holding his sword at my neck.
"You know, normally a person will just say Thankyou."
"Answer me!!"
"Alright alright. I will take off my mask."
He stepped backwards a little. Still holding his sword looking at me with vigilance to make sure that I don't do anything 'weird'.
Just as I had expected, as soon as I took the mask off, they immediately recognised me. Even with the hair dye.
"Sh-Shirou?" Kakashi said wide-eyed.
"Yo! It's been a while." I said
"But how??" Rin said with tears in her eyes just barely holding them back.
"Minato Sensei saved me and I have been on an undercover mission on his order ever since."
It is something that I was told to keep a secret but I don't think that Minato sensei will mind if I tell Kakashi and Rin about it.
"We can have a proper reunion later but for now we need to come up with a plan to escape. Not to mention we are still lacking one member to have a proper reunion anyway." I said
"W-Wait.....Do you mean?" Kakashi asked
"Maybe. I am not sure but I went back to that place and cleared off all the rocks but I wasn't able to find his body. So he too must be alive."
This piece of news was the most shocking and the happiest thing the duo had heard over a few months.
Kakashi was on the verge of crying like a little girl after finding out that Obito was still alive.
Though it makes sense. Everything in his life was crashing down but now he suddenly gets the news that both of his teammates who were presumed to be dead were actually alive. Of course he would be very happy.
We wanted to talk for a while but realising that all of us are still in hostile territory we had no choice to delay that conversation and focus on strategising.
Kakashi told his plan for creating a divergence with the help of shadow clones quite similarly to what I had done two-three chapters back as it was a simple, boring and effective strategy.
While they were discussing the plan, I couldn't help but ask them how exactly they ended up here. It was never mentioned in the anime why they were in Kirigakure or maybe it was but I forgot about it.
"There were actually 10 more of us. Sensei gave us the mission of going to Kirigakure with the peace convoy from the leaf but..."
"They are all dead now. We ourselves were barely able to escape after I rescued Rin from them."
"Huh? you were held hostage or something?"
I had to feign ignorance over the matter to let them spill the beans.
"To be honest I don't remember. I feel like I was blacked out most of the time but..." her voice started to shake as she completed her sentence. ".....I am sure they did something to me. I feel weird almost as if there is something or someone else inside of me."
""!!!""
She suddenly stood up from sitting there. Alerting both me and Kakashi.
"I can't go back to the leaf."
"What are you talking about?"
"Kakashi.....you need to kill me."
"....what? What's gotten into you Rin? How and why would I ever kill you. Don't joke like that."
"I am not joking!! You have to kill me. The hidden mist are using me!! If I don't die the hidden leaf will suffer."
"Rin...I can't do what you are asking me to do. Do you really think I can find it in me to kill you?"
Rin was silent after that. She realised that she was being selfish asking Kakashi who has already lost so many people to kill him. So....she turned to me.
"Oh hell no! I ain't doing that. We will figure something out. We still don't know what exactly they did to you, although I do have a few guesses. So for now, let's hide instead of escaping." I said
"What will hiding accomplish?" Rin said clearly agitated by the entire situation
"We will hide close to the border and wait for Minato sensei to arrive."
"Minato sensei?"
"Yeah I conveyed what I was doing before I got to Kirigakure. I had sent him a message about it and also included that you guys will probably die. Even if considering that he might have not read the message immediately, he should still be on his way here."
"So we will wait for him to arrive here and as soon as he does he can handle Rin's condition and then we all can go home happily."
Rin was relieved after hearing that. She and kakashi too must have tried to send out the messages but I doubt the Kirigakure will let those messaging birds go out of their land.
So we headed to the border but on our way there encountered the ambush of the kiri shinobis.
