Chapter 14: Wishing Stall

It was a sunny day. Sector 17 'Common Fair' was bustling with people. Somewhere in sector 17 exited a quite mysterious street, which was known as the called Fortune Street. Fortune Street, as the name suggested, was famous for its Divination and Fortune Telling. It offered from a typical crystal ball, tarot card readings to clairvoyance to even dream readings and many other odd readings. The services provided by the fortune tellers were quite accurate up to a point, which attracted a lot of people from all over Aurora city, making the street important and always bustling with traffic.

Eon and Second walked on Fortune Street with their looks changed. Eon's leg was already healed a day before. Even when Second took him to a shitty doctor, it only took him three days to completely heal, and he could walk properly again. Eon looked like a man in his thirties with black hair and average height, and Second looked like an older man in his fifties with a few white hairs on his head.

Eon and Second were walking on Fortune Street, not to know their fortune but open a small stall to tell fortune and grant wishes. They walked, looking for any good place to put their table down. For granting wishes, Eon did not think of buying a shop here because if their actions caused any big commotion, they would have to leave the place after that.

They continued to walk, passing buy from small shops to well-built small organizations buildings where you can buy membership and start your own divination business, and to small tents.

"What should we choose, master? We cannot open a shop, so these membership shops are offering good deals", Second spoke while looking around.

"Hmm, we are going to keep changing places, so buying a membership is also nothing much better. Let's just put a small tent somewhere on the road, like some food stalls here; what do you think?" Eon suggested.

Eon soon saw an empty place on the street. There were a few stalls on the same corner that were selling street food. Overall, the place looked clean, with good traffic.

"Let's put a stall in this area, what do you think?" looking at Second, who was walking on his side, Eon asked for Second's opinion.

Second scanned the place. "This place is indeed not bad. Let's open a shop nearby," he answered.

Eon and Second walked around the area. When no one was paying any attention on their side, Second flicked his finger. A black-light shot from it, and out of thin air, a black open tent materialized on the side of the street.

The tent covered the back and the roof of the stall. Inside the tent was a wooden table and chair to sit on. There was even wooden flooring underneath the tent area. Eon looked at the tent satisfactorily and gave a Second approving nod without any expression like always.

But soon, he found something was missing. Eon circled the tent looking for something. As he looked, his eyes stopped on a wooden plaque thrown at the side. Eon walked up to the wooden plaque and picked it up.

He slowly read the content of the wooden plaque "Changing Fate and Granting Wishes at LOW PRICE," a total of eight words, with the last two letters in bold black ink engraved on the plaque. Eon picked the plaque up and walked back to the front of the stall. He handed it to Second to nail it on the tent. In under five minutes, the wishing stall was open.

By now, the stall had grabbed the attention of some passersby and a few stall owners nearby.

"Isn't that corner empty a few minutes ago? Where the stall came from? Am I seeing things in daylight?" a stall owner who looked like he was in his forties rubbed his eyes when he saw a stall that suddenly appeared out of thin air.

"What are you muttering about?" a young man eating at a side table asked the stall owner, hearing his muttering and confused face.

"Look! Look over there" the old man pointed his finger toward Eon's stall.

"When I opened the stall an hour ago, that place was empty," the owner tried to explain.

"What big words changing Fate, granting wishes" The young men who just looked at Eon's stall did not pay much attention to the stall owner's words, but what caught his attention were the words written on the stall board.

"Are they not afraid the heavens might smite them to death?" the young man spoke again. This time his voice was filled with disdain. By now, a few other nearby stall owners had also caught sight of a new stall that appeared out of nowhere on the street.

But what grabbed their attention was still the words the stall owner wrote on the board, 'Changing Fate and Granting Wishes, ' they slowly whispered in between them. While walking, a few passersby also looked at the stall but did not stop or pay much attention to the words. These kinds of shops and stalls were not new on Fortune Street. Every now and then, someone will open this kind of shop to scam honest and poor people.

Completely oblivious to people's remarks, Eon sat on a chair inside the stall. He carried a book in his hands and read it with great interest. Second on the other side, he was extremely embarrassed to the point he wanted to disappear somewhere in the Endless universe when he heard people's thoughts in the area.

"Master, I think we should think of a different plan. People do not look very happy," Second spoke seriously in Eon's ear.

"When did you start to care about the world and what people think?" Eon, without even glancing at Second and spoke in a neutral tone. These words left Second at a loss on what to do now. A cultivator has a long life. They rarely cared about money and the world, but what was most important to them was their face and dignity, which Second was losing now, and after Eon's refusal, he could only try to hide his face now.

Time moved fast. It had already been an hour since Eon opened the stall. Finally, the first customer knocked on the door.

"You two, Do you both have any shame? You both look like somebody who earns good money, and here trying to scam people in broad daylight," a handsome man in his early twenties suddenly appeared in front of the stall. He pointed his finger at Eon and Second before speaking loudly.

Absent in reading, Eon lost his concentration at that moment and looked up, but instead of getting angry, his eyes started to sparkle like stars. Eon acted like he did not hear the young man's previous remark but 'first customer...,' thinking he rejoiced inside his heart.

"Young men, tell me what you desire. You're the first customer of the shop. Therefore, I will wave your fees," Eon asked seriously as he observed the young man from top to bottom.

"So Shameless, you don't have any dignity left in you? You still talking like some saint," the young man looked at Eon like he was looking at retard, 'he did not even answer my previous question and started to sell me stuff, PROFESSIONAL!...' the young man thought.

"Young men! your luck is so-so, and Chances like this rarely come in one lifetime. If you do not grasp this chance, you will regret it your whole life" on the side, Second standing beside Eon, raised his head and spoke earnestly. As a cultivator, he tried to advise the young men on luck and chances.

When the young men heard old men's words, he felt more at a loss on what to say and do, 'these scammers are thick-skin...,' he thought.

"Oye Roland, what are you doing here" suddenly, another young man running at great speed toward the first man standing at the wishing stall shouted from behind. Roland looked back at his friend, who was ruining at top speed. After a few seconds, the man stopped at Roland's side.

"Roland, what are you doing here? Your mother was looking for you. They finished their business and are ready to return home," The young man spoke in a single breath. Even after running, he did not seem to be short on breath.

"Ahh! Mother finished this early. Jonan, I was trying to teach these scammers a lesson, who were trying to rob common people in daylight," Roland replied, emphasizing scammers.

"Why are you always worrying about commoners? Let them live their life as it is," Jonan exclaimed, his forehead furrowed as he looked at good-hearted Roland.

Roland was a good-hearted and compassionate person; he was a young master and successor in the line of the Lerke family who resided in Sector 23, 'Maroon.' Roland did not freely gift money to poor people, but he still tried his best to help them in any way possible, leaving many family members dissatisfied with him. The Lerke family was a family of wizards and sorcerers, and Ronald was one of the people who were in the line of the successor. He always worried about common and poor people, and his behavior caused many people to worry in his father's family line. They even commented, 'he will not be able to become head of the family, and his behavior will only ruin the family further.'

Looking at Jonan, Roland sighed and started to walk away from the stall. Sitting on a chair when he saw his first customer walk away without wishing for anything, Eon felt very sad. His face fell instantly from happy to sad, like someone had stolen a lollipop from a kid. Second standing beside Eon, saw him becoming sad and muttered, 'I can only become more shameless....'

"Cough! Cough! Young men, you cannot leave without wishing or paying" Second voice reverberated like thunder in the area, Roland, who did not walk far away when he heard his face, almost choked.

"Damit! these Scammers, are you not afraid that city watcher will lock you two up" Roland shouted back, but suddenly he felt his body fall out of his control and dragged in front of the stall again.

"What! What! What are you trying to do?" now Roland felt fear. He was a Level 2 Warlock and had fairly good strength, but who could make him lose control of his body and walk unwillingly? Even his father, who was at Level 3 Warlock, cannot do this. His body was suddenly drenched in a cold sweat as he thought about all the possibilities.

"I said, either you pay for wasting our time, the second option is that you wish for something and walk out of stall happily," Second said sternly.

"Roland, why did you walk back to the damn stall again" as Roland started to think about what to do, Jonan's angry shouts also sounded in Roland's ears from the back. People eating at food stalls and passersby when they heard the angry voices coming also stopped to look in the stall direction to see the show.

'I should have listened to mother when she said not to start arguing with people on roads...' Roland sighed in his heart as he thought about how stupid and hotblooded he was when he thought of doing justice on behalf of people.

"Don't lose in thoughts. Decide fast, Young man. What option do you choose."

"Ok! Ok! I will wish," Roland said annoyingly after being unable to control his body.

When Eon, whose face was down, heard his words, a smile blossomed on his face, and he looked upward at the young man's face with starry eyes.

Roland wanted to cry and go home; he did not believe in these scammers who exclaimed they were granting people's wishes.

"I wish for something to let me go home fast," Ronald said. The only thing on his mind right now was to escape from this devil's place.

"Hmm, good choice, good choice" Eon nodded, seeing the young man was not too greedy. It was hard to tell if Eon read Roland's mind or not. Though to him, it did not matter what Roland was feeling.

At this time, Eon's stood up from his chair. He walked out of the roof stall and started to search the nearby ground like a person who had dropped his coin on the ground. Eon's actions attracted quite an attraction from a standing audience of passersby and especially stall owners. Soon Eon returned from looking around. His right hand had some dirt on it, and he carried a key. Walking up to Roland, Eon handed him the key. Roland looked at him suspiciously but still accepted the dirty key from Eon's hand. He feared that if he refused to accept the key, his fate would be worse than a dog's.

"Hold the key straight while thinking where you want to go, and then turn the key. It should take you where your heart desires, but don't think of a place that is too far or unknown. Free things don't always work well," Eon explained calmly to Roland, but only time will tell how far and where the key can take him.

When Roland took the key in hand, he felt his body had returned to him. It was a weird feeling that he was unable to put into words. Holding the key tightly, Roland slowly stepped back to Jonan's side.

"Let's get out of here; fast" Roland dragged Jonan away from the stall. Jonan was looking at Eon with a fool's expression of what just he did.

'Ah! Pity! At the last minute, 'Fate' covered the young man's mind, not letting him wish for something big" Standing at the back, Second sighed at the young man's luck.

Eon returned to the stall and sat calmly on his chair; he looked satisfied. Well, who would not? He just opened the shop and already got his first customer.
