Chapter 42: Surprise fight
"Why do you keep calling me shameless, have I done something to you?" Kyle asked with a frown, he had enough of this bitching and it needed to stop.
"Hmph! I don't like people like you." Emilia retorted while looking.
"Then don't bother to even talk with me, women."
"Hah? what's your problem? Why do you talk so cold."
Kyle looked at her in shock. Wasn't she the one who talked cold with him first?
"I feel like we had been misunderstanding each other, from what I know, you gave me a weird look when I asked about the reward, and to be honest, I don't think that's the Main reason, as it's quite natural, I'm not in any way related to this town," Kyle said while looking at her reactions. He wanted to make things okay with him and her, so, for the last resort, he joked.
"What? Is this because I flirted with Felicia, do you like her or something?" Kyle said while chuckling.
He felt like she would start laughing anytime, but the voice never came. He looked up and froze, Emilia was reverting her eyes with a noticeable blush on her face.
'Does she really like Felicia?! Fuck, I made things worse.' Kyle grumbled inwardly. They were going to travel and fight together so this toxicity had to stop.
"Ahem....then I won't flirt with her anymore, she's all yours," Kyle said and gave her a grin.
"Please, just stop talking. You're making things worse."
They both stayed silent for a while, Kyle thought of talking about her powers but others needed to know them too so he refrained.
10 minutes later, Jasper and Keitan came together.
"Everyone's here now, perfect. Let's leave now."
Kyle said making everyone nod. Seeing their behavior, Kyle learned that they had no problem being ordered by him. The trio was actually down to earth without much arrogance. Emilia was always confident, Keitan was indifferent, and lately Jasper...he was still mysterious in Kyle's eyes.
"Walk or run?" jasper asked.
"Run"
"Run"
"Walk"
Keitan was the only one who said walk.
"We can run halfway and then walk if you want to save strength," Kyle suggested, everyone nodded. It was a good suggestion.
Everyone started running at a good speed, the time which would take 5 hours by walking now took 3.
They all talked during this while and shared the knowledge of their skills.
"I have many offensive skills and a healing one. I can support you all in the rear very well." Emilia said while running. Kyle was observing everyone's stamina, to see how long they will last while running.
"I have some aura skills for my sword, I can fight in the frontline." Jasper didn't say much about his skills but Kyle knew that sword aura users were formidable foes as he was one too now.
"I can attack from the dark," Keitan said with an expressionless face. Not much of a social type. No one asked him further as it was obvious that he had stealth skills which showed his next-to-nothing presence which was sometimes hard to find.
Kyle felt their gazes at him, he was from before talking of what to tell them and what not. But in the end, they were going to risk their life together, so spilling the beans was necessary for the attack strategy.
"You can call me a Jack of all trades, I can melee combat and give support too."
*Giggle*
"What?" Kyle asked with a frown, Emilia was now getting on his nerves.
"Nothing!" She snorted and stopped the conversation.
'You are getting more and more interesting, Kyle.' Someone in the group thought while looking at Kyle in a mysterious way.
The 5 hours passed and kyle was surprised to see that aside from some sweat on everyone's head, not a single one was exhausted. They stopped and started walking as decided beforehand.
It was a very silent walk, no one spoke and Kyle found it better than hearing to the shenanigans of the only women in the group.

"Wait" Kyle whispered, it had been 2 hours since they were walking and Kyle felt the presence of something else other than the group for the first time.
From looking at Kyle's serious and vigilant face, the trio went on guard. Kyle summoned his sword from the inventory.
"There!" Jasper shouted while pointing at the tree top. A small silhouette was looking at them.

The creature was standing on the tree's branch, it had 8 hairy legs. A big head of 10 inches was standing on those hairy legs. Kyle was creeped out at first, he had not seen that creature ever. The red eyes of the head didn't help in this situation.
The creature noticed their gaze and jumped, with how big its head was, Kle felt that it would be slow but when it landed on the ground. The 2 front legs stretched inwards and then, boom, it started dashing towards them with a frantic speed. Kyle was the nearest one and the big head pounced at him.
SWISH!
SPLASH!

First, the sword moved ahead, and then the spider was cut in two halves at contact making all the blood splatter everywhere.
"....Nice sword," Jasper said with a hidden glint while looking at the weapon.
"Thanks. But that creature was not normal, it's speed was very fast. Someone at its level range could have had a hard time in killing the damn thing."
"Well, they are weaker than us, so it doesn't matter."
Chitter Chitter Chitter Chitter
"What the fuck?!" Emilia exclaimed while looking at a swarm of these spiders approaching them from all directions.
"Shit! It's a swarm. get ready to attack!" Kyle shouted, it was a habit. The trio was already ready, Emilia materialized a small ball of fireball in her hands quickly that kept increasing in size.
Jasper unsheathed his sword, there was nothing extraordinary around it until the sword started getting coated by a golden aura staring from the hilt. It was very thin and made the sword's blade look naturally gold in color.
