Chapter 45: Lord Ectorius
(Zatanna POV)
After the death of Merlin and Morgana wizard's council has kept working diligently. Guilds have been established and have become a huge part of wizards' culture.
They have spread through most of the European countries where magicals live, even if they have different management for each country.
During the creation of the guilds in Britain, dad meddled and made sure that one family rose and was awarded a place in the wizards' council.
Ectorius family was created by us. Its first Lord was a child of one of my hybrids that died in a fight with a werewolf pack.
He was raised by me, and when we needed someone to live among mages and manage the family he was selected.
The current Lord is one of his descendants. Dad had a hell of a time making the Lord's ring for him. Thankfully Merlin was still alive at the time so the ring was accepted. But dad added something special to this one.
A small compulsion to keep Lord Ectorius loyal to us.
Interesting thing is that after realising that some other families wish to be added to the council it was decided that it can only happen if one of the families that are on it goes extinct. Because after Merlins' death nobody knows how to create the rings. Well, that was the excuse that the council gave.
Anyway back to Ectorius family. Ectorius mansion is located in London well it is more of a townhouse with a lot of enchantments on the inside than an actual mansion.
Quite a place, if someone knows what to look for they might even notice that bears live here. Current Lord Ectorius a bear shifter and a wizard, he is coming back from a meeting of a wizards' council about Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.
I was sipping blood from a glass when the door of Lords study opened and Edward entered.
"Hello, Eddy it's been a while."
"Lady Zatanna, it's nice to see you again."
He said as he went to sit on a chair in front of the studies table.
"So how did the meeting go?"
"I have to say Slytherin knows how to play the crowd. It was decided that schooling in witchcraft and wizardry will be mandatory for mages from eleven to seventeen. For now, it will be done by Hogwarts, but if numbers exceed Hogwarts' capacity wizards' council will create a school."
"So who will manage Hogwarts?" I ask.
"Well it will stay in hands of its founders, but there will be a comity created by the wizards council that will review what is being thought to the students."
"That's what we expected. Is there anything else going on with the council members?"
"There is one thing. Peverell family doesn't have an heir. Last Lord only has a daughter who is currently married to Lord Potter. There are talks between members about what will happen to Peverell ring after their Lord Peverell dies."
"I see. keep me informed on what happens with that. Now I am going to visit my sister at her new job. Have a nice day Eddy."
After saying my goodbyes I live the house and take out a broom from my bag and fly towards the location of Hogwarts.

After lending in front of Hogwarts wards I was welcomed by a plump woman in a yellow dress who introduced herself as Helga Hufflepuff.
"I have to say Lady Hufflepuff this is an incredible castle you built here."
"Oh thank you dear, and please call me Helga. Those titles are for stuffy meetings not conversations between friends."
We kept walking towards where my sister was and on the way Helga introduced me to different parts of Hogwarts we were passing by.
"and that is how we named it Hogwarts. Oh here we are, there is Ivy. Enjoy your time and don't forget to try some of Hogwarts food."
As she says that she points me towards Ivy who was sitting in an office reading a book.

After some time we were sipping blood and talking.
"I didn't know it would be so much fun to teach, but I love it. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that annoying competition between Godric and Salazar," says Ivy.
"I am glad you are enjoying your time here. But what I am curious about is the curriculum of the school."
"Oh, Zatanna you need to relax a little, but fine. Let me see first years have: Writing, Numbers and calculus, Herbology, Charms, Potions, Physical exercise." She starts reading from the list she pulled out from her pocket.
"I am guessing that writing, numbers and calculus are mostly for muggle-born?"
Ivy nods at that and continues "Secund years have: Herbology, Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, Arithmancy, History, Physical exercise.
In the third year there are some optional classes, and students have to pick at least one of those. Third years have: Herbology and Magical creatures(optional), Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Arithmancy(optional), Runes, Divination(optional), Battle magic, Magicals theory" after saying that Ivy takes a pause to drink some blood and then continues.
"In the fourth year there are options to take more advanced versions of some classes: Potions or (optional) Alchemy, Charms or (optional) Enchanting, Transfiguration, Runes and Warding (optional), Arithmancy/Spell Creation (optional), Herbology and Magical creatures(optional), Divination (optional same class as 3rd Year), Battle Magic, Magical Theory, History.
Fifth years have: Potions or (optional) Alchemy, Charms or(optional) Enchanting, Transfiguration, Runes and Warding (optional), Arithmancy/Spell Creation (optional), Herbology and Magical creatures(optional), Ancient magic (optional), Battle Magic, Magical Theory, History.
Sixth and Seventh years have all classes from the fifth year optional."
After Ivy explained Hogwarts curriculum we spent some time talking about her classes Herbology and Herbology and Magical creatures as well as classes that other are teaching.
After that, I had dinner at Hogwarts and spent some time with its teachers and students.
