Chapter 56: Mission
The region that Kimi was born in may have been among the weakest of them but it certainly had many kinds of threats lingering around in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
The gym leaders were divided in terms of allegiances to who they truly served but they still maintained their images to keep up appearances of them being loyal to the league and were continuing with their duties.
In order to be a gym leader, it required recognition to be a legal gym that was accepted by the league and the higher ups who would be in charge of the city.
If the gym leader had been exposed for being involved with some crimes then they would be stripped of their rights to run their gym so it was better for them to maintain a clean image while hiding their darker secrets.
Brock and Misty were among those that were on the side of the league or just did their duties as they should until they set out for their journeys.
If there were some higher families with great power, they would do their best to keep up appearances too and keep their dirty secrets locked away.
Criminal groups were far less restrained and did not care for their image, they were out for themselves and many among them could commit atrocities to get ahead in life or get richer.
Those groups dealt with all of the worst possible sides of humanities sinful acts from thefts, killing, extortion, slavery, drugs, intimidation and poisons.
Some groups drove some Pokémon near extinction and committed all kinds of horrible deeds upon them, the environment or on their fellow humans just for the sake of their own desires.
The region that Kimi was a part of was a region that had more poison types than any other which were followed by water types.
Even if there were medical sprays and potions for poison, there were so many poisoning incidents reported every year.
Most would be from poisonous Pokémon attacks but there would be cases that had been found to be the work of humans using poison to murder others.
Different Pokémon have varying poisons with different effects and the higher level they were, the more potent they became which was why the league were very strict in the way they controlled a lot of the population and levels of certain Pokémon.
Old P spoke on the other end. "This assignment is perfect for the current you and will be a good way to test your currently reported team. This group have been a thorn in many peoples sides but they have some influence and contacts that help them evade capture and clean up the scene before being raided. It is not enough to catch the attention of any special teams since this kind of thing can happen anywhere."
Kimi listened and watched from far away as she looked over the security around the building. "They are not heavily guarded. I am counting two of them outside. What is the goal of this mission?"
Far away from her was an old looking factory that looked run down that was north of Saffron City on the map.
It was the type of smaller factory building that had not been maintained a long time and was falling apart due to it being outside of the city.
Most workers would have preferred to work within one of the cities where it was safer so the location of the factory would not be purchased by anyone and would be left abandoned.
The plants had grown around it and there were vines on the side of the walls which showed how nature had already reclaimed that part of the land back.
The only reason why it remained was due to there not being enough active people to petition for to have it torn down.
There were other locations on the routes between the cities, in the forests, in the mountains or by the seaside that had homes and other buildings built there that had gone out of business or were left abandoned for various reasons.
They were eventually occupied by people passing through or became a place for the criminals to gather.
Old P answered. "The mission is to subdue them but if it is required, lethal force can be used."
Kimi responded. "Got it.
Using the cover of the trees and the dark night, Kimi silently crept closer to the abandoned factory.
With the use of her aura, Kimi was able to dash to cover near the building once she noticed their line of sight he turned away.
They did not seem that professional or a bigger crime group of any importance but old P had stressed that the mission was just a small part of a much bigger picture and that she could not he sloppy.
He was judging how she was performing so Kimi had to put in every effort to succeed otherwise she would not be trusted with bigger missions.
She waited on at the corner of the building and once the two guards outside had split up to patrol, Kimi took out a baton and prepared herself. '1..2..3..'
The moment that she reached three, the other person had turned the corner of the opposite side of the building while another had gotten closer to her.
Once they reached closer and turned to look towards the shadows that were cast by the trees and the Pokémon further away, Kimi silently ran out from her cover and hit him on the back of his leg. "Ugh."
He went down to the ground and was hit by the force palm of Kimi which knocked him unconscious.
Another figure that had caught the attention of the man had stepped out from the trees and grabbed onto his body then pulled him towards the trees where he was tied up.
It was Scizor who was moving around in the distance and briefly caught the attention of them to allow Kimi to jump out and attack them from behind.
His belongings were taken away before he was tied up and Kimi ran back out to perform the same tactic on the other man that was making his way back around the building.
