Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Jason's POV

"Don't tell me you're planning on getting more work done tonight, just please don't." Jeremy started to say the minute he paused his fingers from working his suit jacket close to check if I was doing the same only to find me still typing away on the system.

I breathed out a sigh, all plans of staying in after everyone exited the office for an hour more vanished into thin air after hearing Jeremy's criticizing voice.

I squirmed in my seat, quickly thinking up a plan on how to convince him to leave without me.

"Just leave him be, man. I think he prefers to work in the silence though." Peter piped in a few feet away from me. Jeremy and I turned in his direction at the same time and I almost grinned at how he raised his left hand and waved sheepishly at me, totally avoiding Jeremy's gaze.

"Who the hell are you?" Jeremy snapped at Peter as he glared at him in irritation.

"Oh, I'm Peter. We've been working on the same team for almost three months... glad I could remind you again since you're always forgetting." Peter replied flatly.

"Or maybe you're just not worth remembering, that's probably why I keep forgetting your boring face." Jeremy replied without missing a beat.

"Or perhaps, your brain capacity is too weak to hold onto details concerning me, hence it gets fried up immediately." Peter breathed out, his fingers moving over the keyboard before him while his gaze still remained fixed on Jeremy's face.

Jeremy, who was already done with fixing up his suit, rolled his eyes as if he expected Peter to do better than that. "Your comebacks are so lame... work on it, as well as your hairstyle, it's really horrible."

"How about you head out first? I'll be out in a few minutes." I mumbled out, my fingers tapping on the buttons louder than necessary.

I could feel Jeremy's scowl dig holes into my head but I refused to budge, Jeremy wasn't the boss of me. I reminded myself that he only had my best interest at heart and meant no harm whatsoever.

"You heard him, man. Besides, I'm staying in as well, I'll keep him company." Peter said to Jeremy over my head and I whipped my head up immediately.

Nope.

The office was almost empty as everyone has vacated the room except for Travis who was sitting at the back of the office, packing his stuff into his bag.

I stood up and started shutting down my laptop, I guess I was heading home early tonight and not because Jeremy wanted me to, that's not why. It's because creepy peter just mentioned that he was staying behind.

Jeremy and I sometimes refer to him as 'creepy Peter' since the time he started giving me weird smiles and making unnecessary body contact with me some months ago. Since then, Jeremy had seemed to despise him more than I could ever.

"You coming?" Jeremy asked.

"Yeap, I forgot I was already done with everything I was supposed to do for the day since I was already used to staying up late." I replied Jeremy while chuckling a little knowing fully well that I'd be staying back later than usual tomorrow to make up for today.

I buttoned my cufflinks and jacket before swinging my bag over my shoulder and turning and to glance at Peter who was chewing on his lips when my gaze landed on his face.

He popped his lips out before asking, "Oh, you're really leaving now? I thought you were going to stay for a while..."

I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders a little while smiling apologetically, "Nah, I'm done with my work and I don't see the need to stay in tonight."

"Oh." He muttered as he lightly bit the head of a pencil.

"Bye guys," Travis called out from his position at the door before exiting the office and leaving the door to slid shut behind him.

I shoved away from my seat and hung my bag over my shoulder before leading the way out the office with Jeremy behind me.

"Bye." I waved a little at Peter before closing the door shut behind me.

Jeremy huffed beside me with an eye roll as we made our way towards the elevator before mumbling. "He's so irritating."

I laughed a little, rubbing my slightly numb hands against each other to give it a little warmth before shoving them into my pants pocket and shrugging a little, "He's not that bad."

"Yeah, right." Jeremy agreed sarcastically as he thumbed the elevator buttons. "He's creepy, and why the hell is he always smiling?"

I nodded my head in agreement, Peter can be sometimes irritating and creepy, like the time he choose to hold unto my hands as he explained how he lost his dog and cat into a fire when he was a kid to me in the restroom, after I had politely asked him how he was doing that faithful afternoon.

"I don't know why, but I do know that he is savage as fuck."

The elevator door slid open and we stepped into it immediately, glad that it was empty this time.

Jeremy snorted, "He's not. His comebacks are lame as the sunset."

"Hey, the sunset is one of the most beautiful things Mother Nature decided to give to us, be grateful." I reminded him, elbowing him lightly in the ribs.

Jeremy only rolled his eyes before muttering dismissively, "Yeah, whatever." He dug out his phone from his pocket and started scrolling away on it. Shifting my weight from foot to foot, I studied my face in the mirror before me.

My eyes seemed to be getting thinner and thinner everyday due to how much I work, one thing I was extremely confident about was that I was good looking.

With coffee brown eyes and long, curly black hair, I stood at six foot with a lean body and a face which wasn't that interesting. My eyes were shaped like a dragon's, at least that was what Jeremy called them everytime. My nose was small and straight while my lips were plump and a bright pink. It made me appear a little bit feminine to my disappointment, as well as my beardless, outlined jaw.

I wanted to look badass ever since I was a kid, but my body clearly had other plans since my growth spurt hit in my late teen years, leaving behind nothing to be boldly proud of or excited about.

Jeremy's still convinced of the fact that Peter had been hitting on me the whole time and still is but I don't think that was it.

I wasn't gay, never acted gay whatsoever so Jeremy's observations were just absurd.

Apart from my face and hair, there was nothing else to be proud of when it comes to my body. Being around Jeremy a lot made me more insecure than I used to be during college years since I was always consciously or unconsciously comparing myself to him.

I used to be teased in school about how feminine I looked in high school. They'd call me a pretty girl despite how much I hated them doing that. It made me self conscious about my looks, which made me super excited to leave high school for college, thinking everyone was going to be matured there and mind their businesses.

They were the complete opposite.

I sighed deeply and ran my fingers through my curls which hung over my cheeks before hurrying out the elevator immediately the door slid open.

"Wait up, babe," Jeremy called out behind me and I froze in my tracks before turning around and walking back towards him until I was positioned before him. His phone was still in his face so I dragged it out of his loose grip and glared at him while throwing nervous glances around. "Don't call me 'babe', Jeremy!"

People were throwing us a few glances and I felt my face heat up in embarrassment, damn you Jeremy.

"Urg, sorry. I keep forgetting you don't like that word, I'm used to calling most people that." Jeremy mumbled apologetically before plucking his phone out of my grip and rolling his eyes as he walked past me towards the main entrance of the company.

I huffed a little, I wish his eyes could get stuck in his head one day due to how many times he rolls them around.

We headed towards Jeremy's car and I let myself into the passenger's seat and took in deep breaths while Jeremy started his Lexus and drove out of the company parking lot onto the busy highway.

I don't own a car which is why each time Jeremy and exits work together, we take his car together then he drops me off at my apartment before heading to his house just about ten houses away. Our jobs paid us more than enough every month coupled with fat bonuses or tips as our supervisor would like to call them which was, in other words; icing on the cake to convince us to be completely secretive when it comes to our jobs.

I lived in a big apartment, but compared to Jeremy's penthouse, I was living in a rat house. My house had four large rooms, a computer/game room, a hot pool and a large balcony overlooking the busy streets of America. All in all, it was more than enough for me. I kept contact with only a few people from college whom I was close to then, we worked in different parts of America which made it hard for us to meet up and hang out in months. I barely have people over except my family members, and Jeremy.

I've only brought a girl home one time when Jeremy dragged me to the club with him. An hour after we stepped into the club, Jeremy urged and dragged me into the empty seat beside a blonde woman with huge tits. I had no choice but to carry on a conversation with her that night while my best friend humped on some girl on the dance floor.

We ended at my apartment with the help of a Uber and we had sex that night on my couch. I didn't really enjoy the sex that night because my mind kept wondering back and fourth, and also because she kept dragging my hands towards her throat and wrapping my fingers around it like she wanted me to squeeze it. I couldn't bring myself to do what she wanted me to, my fingers felt too weak and it felt awkward as hell, making me uncomfortable to the point of almost losing my boner.

She pulled on my hair and kept moaning out my fake name which I had introduced myself to her with while muttering the word 'daddy' under her breath. I wanted to shake the lust away from her gaze and tell her that I wasn't enjoying any of what was happening because it was the furthest thing from what I actually wanted. I wanted a lot of things, things I couldn't bring myself to voice out- I've never been able to voice those thoughts out since I started having them years ago. They already felt dirty enough in my head, not to talk about me vocally admitting it.

I shivered as the cold evening air breezed its way into the car coupled with the air conditioner turned on to the max. I shuddered a little and slid lower into the car seat, my eyes absently following different cars which zoomed past us fast.

"Cold?"

I glanced at him and shook my head, I knew how much Jeremy loved the cold and didn't want to be an inconvenience.

"I'm not."

Jeremy rolled his eyes and hit a button on his door and the windows slid close in the next second, despite my reassurance.

"You didn't have to, I wasn't that cold." I mumbled quietly but he ignored my half hearted argument and changed the subject almost immediately.

"Want to have dinner at Pizza Hut?" Jeremy inquired as he slowed down the moment the traffic lights switched from green to yellow.

I shrugged my shoulders and nodded my head in reply to his question, "Pizza sounds fine."
