Chapter 19: Maya Speeding to Serene Town

Noticing that the environment turned deadly silent once again and darkness enveloped the whole area. Mike who was still kneeling couldn't help but ask in a low voice.
" Robert is it safe to move, are those people gone? I really don't like my current position, even though it's necessary".
Robert couldn't help but risk peeking since it was his master's question " Master, it seems like everyone is gone, let's quickly start moving and get out of here".
Mike who heard this couldn't help but have a faint smile appear on his face " I was kneeling all this long and now you want me to leave empty-handed? Let's first go back to the village and see if that dragon egg is still safe or not, and then we can start moving to serene town".
Robert couldn't help but advise while a worried expression can be seen written all over his face " Master, such a huge commotion caused by that fight and added by the village destruction, for sure it had already spread in the surrounding towns and villages, we have to swiftly get the egg and get out of here before anyone arrives if what's what you planning on doing ".
" Okay okay, stop worrying so much, the fight just ended not long ago so we still have some time to spend here before anyone arrives".
SERENE TOWN.
The magnificent golden palace was obviously still standing in its position. You can still notice the guards still doing their daily jobs in protecting the castle and no one can near its periphery without the Lord's permission.
However, at this moment, you can detect three people running in the palace's direction without showing any signs of halting whatsoever.
The two guards protecting the gate quickly unsheathed their swords and stood in front of the trio upon spotting them.
Given the fact that even for them it might be risky to directly go in, and seeing the guards standing in front of them, the trio couldn't help but stop in front of the gate and show their Identity.
"This is the Lord's future daughter-in-law, open the gate now, or the consequences of delaying us from reporting to the lord won't be something a mere guard like you can Withstand".
Hearing one of the man's words and seeing the information on the identity card, the guard hurriedly opened the gate and bowed without delay, the other guard followed suit and bowed while drops of sweat can be seen forming on their foreheads.
" That's more like, I want you to keep this pretty face in your memories, cause the next time you stop me from entering just for an identity check, this won't end up with just a warning". The beautiful young girl said in an arrogant tone.
" Yes my lady, this will never happen again. Thank you for sparring our dog life's even after our insolence ". The guards answered loudly in union.
Inside the throne room in the Golden palace, a middle-aged man was sitting on the throne, but only his looks were that of a middle-aged man, his actual age is simply hard to fathom given the fact that he is tier 4.
Just right in front of the throne, a guard was kneeling on the ground, which seemed that he was about to report something to the lord.
" My lord, Maya the current little princess of the hex family and the second daughter of Thomas, is currently in front of the throne room's door asking to meet you".
" Oh, isn't she supposed to arrive after days from now, why is she so early from the appointed schedule? Well, I will know soon enough, go tell my son to come and meet his fiance and let Maya in while you are at it" Jeffrey the lord of serene town ordered in a casual manner.
The guard seemed to be hesitating a little and didn't directly move to follow his orders.
" What's wrong, is there another matter you wanna report to me? Simply spit it out already, and don't delay my busy schedule".
" Yes my lord, well it seems like news about Gazing moon village destruction is circling the town, we don't have the full details but I think it's highly likely that the news isn't fake" the guard reported everything but fear can be seen written all over his face.
Even though it's just a village and it was easy to destroy it if an individual has enough power, to actually dare and massacre a whole village that is within a kingdom's area of influence, takes a lot of courage and ruthlessness to do.
" Who cares, it's just a small village, it's not the first nor the last, but still take some precautions and increase the guards in the town, and immediately send a party that is being led by a tier 3 and investigates what happened there. Now go and relay my orders".
" Yes my lord" the guard answered respectfully and left the room in a hurry to relay the message to the Lord's son, and some officials for the second matter.
The big Golden door of the throne room suddenly opened, and Maya being escorted by two men, can be seen making her way to the golden throne.
Maya was surprisingly wearing tattered clothes which didn't fit her status at all, and even Jeffrey was slightly taken aback by what he saw, given the fact that he knows that the girl is arrogant and gives a lot of attention to outside looks.
Stopping right in front of the throne, no one kneeled in front of Jeffrey, and that's mainly because each of those three had a background that can't be trifled with, so even Jeffrey a tier 4 mage will have to give them some face.
But still, no one dared to speak without the Lord's permission, so they patiently waited for it, without any hint of impatience or arrogance displayed in their expressions.
And that's because in this world, power is simply everything, and wealth is just a means to get stronger faster or in a more efficient way. But if you have power then wealth is basically a given anyway.
So although those people have great backgrounds and won't kneel, they still won't dare to disrespect Jeffrey at all.
And that's of course easy to guess the reason behind it, the moment they disrespect Jeffrey they will simply never dream of leaving this throne room Alive, and even their backgrounds won't matter at that time.
Cause even though the powers of this world respect each other and dislike picking random fights, that's mainly cause it's not beneficial and a waste of resources to do so, so unless their benefits or image is at stake, no one will be starting a fight for a trivial matter like not kneeling.
" Maya, wasn't your arrival supposed to be after a few more days? Why are you already here, and what happened to your clothes" the lord asked in a concerned tone.
Even though he is the lord of serene town and a tier 4 mage that have a lot of power, this is still his son's future wife, and he doesn't want for any unexpected problems to occur.
And that's mainly not cause of Maya, of course, she's his daughter-in-law, but that's still only secondary, the main factor is her background, which is the little princess of the hex family.
And that's the reason why he insisted on appointing guards for Maya on her long journey, even though her family can provide such guards easily. He still had to put that act of concern when things are public, And that's of course to deepen the relationship between the two families.
Maya who was in front spoke first, while anger can be detected in her voice " Father-in-law, we had a problem on our way to your town".

" Well it seems like Gazing moon village got razed to the ground, we didn't have any more information than that so I sent a team to investigate things there, but it seems the reason for its destruction is a fight between experts and that village simply got in their way". Jeffrey casually informed them of what he knows.
"Did you just say that it was raised to the ground?".
"Are you sure my lord, maybe it's just rumors "?
". Father-in-law, is the village really gone? This is critical to me".
All three of them bombarded Jeffrey with questions like their houses have been burnt or something like that.
