Chapter 2: A Big Day
"One chicken pizza, two cole slaw bowls, and three cold drinks please."
Lisa ordered the waiter. The waiter replied:
"Which cold drinks would you all like to have, madam?"
"Umm...I want a coke. You can ask both of them.", replied Lisa.
"A coke for me as well.", replied Nat.
They both started looking at Sia who was staring at the menu card.
"An iced tea for me please.", said Sia.
"ICED TEA!?"
Lisa and Nat spoke in utmost surprise. Even the waiter was confused.
"Anything else?"
"No.", replied Sia.
"Okay, madam."
He went away. The girls started chatting.
"He is coming tomorrow.", said Lisa suddenly.
"Who?"
Nat looked confused.
"Obviously! that model."
Lisa interrupted.
"So?", said Sia as if she was not interested in this conversation.
"I have seen a rumor on the Internet that he is dating Barbara Stane.", said Lisa proudly.
"WHAT!?", replied Nat.
"She is my favourite actress. Both of them would make a beautiful couple."
"But they say that he belongs to some underworld gang."
"What? No...no..it can't be."
"Haven't you seen his biography? He belonged to an immigrant family who became rich overnight. His family disowned him and he pursued modelling. Well....there must be some connection. Don't you think?"
"You have done a lot of homework Li.", said Sia jokingly.
"You have to if you are in the PR department.", said Lisa proudly
"If that's true then I feel really bad for Barbara Stane.....She is too young to be slaughtered."
Nat started daydreaming and sobbing much to Sia's confusion who replied:
"What does it have to do with us?"
"Just information sweetie."
Lisa tried to crack a joke but it was awful.
"Whether he is coming tomorrow or not, it is none of my business. I am still angry at the extra hours we have to work. This week seems like forever. You know, I submitted up to 7 poster and cover ideas and the director rejected them all..."
Sia started to complain. She was very frustrated and wanted a break.
"Okay.....okay....dear, stop."
Both Lisa and Nat were confronting her.
"It's just a matter of a few weeks. Then, this campaign would be finished and everything would be back to normal. Don't worry."
"Yeah, don't worry."
"Ever since Everett went away, the director has been putting all the burden on me."
They started arguing over Everett. He was Lisa and Nat's first crush but things became worse when they came to know about each other's feelings for him. The worst that could happen was that he left the job afterwards. Sia regretted mentioning Everett. Soon, the waiter brought their order. They forgot everything and attacked the food.
The next day was a big day for the employees as every woman's heartthrob was coming. Lisa went to welcome Mr. Daniel at the airport. Everybody was excited to see him except for Sia. She was completely lost in her work.
Soon, a black BMW stopped outside the office. The manager came out to receive the guest. A man came out of the front seat and opened the back door. A 6ft handsome man wearing a black coat and black sunglasses came out. He was Mr. Daniel, every woman's dream guy.
Sia had heard that he was given the title of National Crush and now she realized why.
All the female employees became excited. Firstly, Mr. Daniel went to the owner's office. Then, he was guided to the conference room where different local brand representatives were present. After a business talk with them, he was shown the campaign plan. He had a serious personality so, he rarely smiled during the whole conference. Mr. Resus also showed him the ideas his team had in store for him. Finally, a contract was presented to him for signature. That was the end of the day.
A lot of female employees were eagerly waiting for him to finish working. As soon as he came back, the female employees, who wanted selfies with him, gathered around. His bodyguard stopped them from doing so. As the ladies were disappointed, Mr. Daniel looked back and smiled.
"Whoever wants pictures can come outside."
Ladies hooted with excitement. Everybody went outside except for Sia who was still working on the poster she was assigned to make. The ladies were not letting Mr.Daniel go. His bodyguard had to intervene to make way for him. Nat and Lisa came to Sia's desk. Lisa showed her cell phone.
"Look! we had a picture with Mr. Daniel."
"I would have been so good if you had also come."
"I had a lot of work."
Sia replied while working.
"Don't worry. He will come tomorrow.", said Nat.
" What!? TOMORROW!? It means I have to submit all the tasks today...Oh God!"
Sia was sobbing. She was very hungry so Lisa and Nat bought some cookies for her. She received another bad news that day. The director told her that she could go back after completing the campaign poster design.
"You have to complete this today."
The director seemed in a bad mood.
"But sir."
"No buts. Complete the design today and then you are free to go home."
Sia wanted to say something.
I think I am clear enough", said the director angrily.
"Okay, sir."
"Now you can go."
"Okay, sir."
Everybody left. Only Nat, Lisa, Sia, and the director were present in the office. While working, Sia received a call from her father.
"Hello, papa?"
Her father was angry.
"Where are you!?"
"Pa....papa.....I am at the office."
"Are you sure?"
"Y...Yes."
"When are you coming back!?"
"I don't know."
"You have the pepper spray, right?"
"Yes, papa."
"Come straight home."
"Okay, papa. Bye-bye."
"Bye."
She hung up the phone. It took her some time to relax and she continued working. After about four hours, she submitted the design and left.
When she reached home, her parents were waiting for her at the door.
"Are you alright, honey?", said her mother.
Fiano seemed angry.
"How many times have I told you to look for a job with fewer working hours? Do you know how scared we were?"
"Sorry, papa. Actually, there is a campaign so all of us are quite busy."
"How would I know that you were there?"
The last words said by her father really surprised Sia. She realized that her father has started suspecting her. How did he start suspecting was beyond her imagination. It was a blow to her.
"Fiano...have some trust in your daughter."
"I will go to my room."
She went upstairs to her room. After taking a bath, she started thinking about what made her father think about such a thing. Her live location was also shared with him. How can he still not trust his own daughter? After a while, she got a call from the management that some employees from the photography department left so, they decided to incorporate some other members for the time being till the HR department hires new ones. The director had put forward her name from his department to work. So, she had to report at 6:00 am sharp tomorrow onwards. She had to agree because there was no backing off.
"This Daniel!!!!!!!!!"
"I will kill him!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She threw the pillow on the floor.
