"What!" Ella pulled away from her mum's arms and turned around to face Paul.

"Paul!" Ella's tone was chilly and her vicious gaze was frightening.

"Are you trying to get on my nerves? How dare you ask me such a stupid question? Are you c..." Ella bit down on her lower inner lips to push back the curse word that almost escaped her lips. She saw Paul like a father and she couldn't bear to insult him no matter the provocation.

"I...I...I..." Paul felt tongue tied.

"Calm down baby..." Maggie patted Ella on the shoulder while wondering what, 'others,' Paul was referring to. "I'm sure he's confused about what to do. That's why he is asking for clarification. Please, forgive his error on my behalf."

Ella took in a deep breath to calm her nerves

"It's okay mum," Ella stroked her mum's hand resting on her shoulder.

"Paul, take them to the nursery."
