Chapter 3: Lesson No. 1
Taehyung's POV
"How is she that beautiful?" I thought out loud while I was laying on my bed. Why do I think of her so often? What should I ask for as the wish? Why do I miss her even when I just dropped her home? Should I call her? Should I not-
"Ah Taehyung, you need to shut up," I said to myself.
"Maybe I should call her. I mean, we do have to study together sometime."
I quickly sat up and called her.
***OTP***
"Hi."
"Hi."
We laughed at how we said it together.
"What are you doing?"
"You dropped me like 15 minutes ago, much couldn't have happened now could it?"
"Ah, well I a lot can happen in fifteen minutes."
"Like what?"
"Hmm... Like changing clothes, listening to music, thinking about- never mind. See there's so much you can do in 15 minutes."
"Thinking about whom?"
"Uhm my dog... Yeontan. He's super cute so, yeah."
"Aww, can I see him sometime? And by the way, I have a dog too. We found him in the backyard and kept him haha."
"How about you come over tomorrow? For the tutoring and you can meet Yeontan too."
"Ok sure, at 5?"
"Cool. See you tomorrow."
"See ya. Bye Tae."
What's with that nickname? Why does it make me feel... all fuzzy? I ignored it and decided to take a nap.
***Next Day***
Author's POV
Taehyung woke up by the feeling of Yeontan's drool on his face.
"Ahh, Tan, not early in the morning." He giggled and hugged his Pomeranian tight.
"I'm so excited I'll be- uhm studying today?"
"Anyways, let's get up!"
He gets out of bed and makes his way to the bathroom. After freshening up he goes down for breakfast.
***At Breakfast***
Taehyung sits down next to his sister and asks his mom when the food will be ready.
"In a minute." She yells from the kitchen.
"How's school going Jinnie?"
"Alright. I'm super excited about my dat-"
She stopped mid-sentence when she saw Taehyung glaring at her. He was very protective of his little sister like any other older brother. "No dates till you're forty."
"What the fuck- When am I going to get married then? When I'm eighty?"
"Language. And yeah if any guy lasts you can get married I guess."
"Oppa! I wanna walk down the aisle not be wheeled down the aisle."
"Yeah, yeah whatever. Breakfast's here, eat up if you wanna be able to walk till you're eighty." He chuckled teasing her.
"I-"
"Gosh, you two. Let it go. I heard Taehyung is having someone over today. A girl to be specific." Mrs. Kim interrupted the two.
"How do you know about it? I never told anyone."
"Eunjin told me."
Taehyung's gaze shifted to Eunjin questioningly.
"What? I heard you talking to someone last night. And from the way, you were smiling it seemed like it was a girl."
"Aish, it's just a friend."
"Just a friend." Mrs. Kim and Eunjin said collectively mocking Taehyung.
"She's gonna tutor me on literature. That's it. So, don't get all excited."
Both of them exchanged confused looks and Mrs. Kim asked. "Is she pretty?"
"Long hair or short?" His sister followed.
"What kind of food does she like? I'll make it for her."
"Does Unnie have beautiful skin? What brand makeup does she use?"
"STOP! Yes, she's gorgeous. Short hair, it's super cute. She likes spicy food, especially tteokbokki. Her skin is just as beautiful as her and she doesn't even touch makeup. Now, I answered your questions let me eat my food in peace."
Eunjin and Mrs. Kim back off satisfied with his answers, imagining what their future sister and daughter-in-law must be like.
"Wait, when is she coming?"
"5 pm, Eomma."
"Ok, great." She smiled.
***Time Skip To A-Yeong's House***
Taehyung's POV
I'm standing outside her house as excited as ever. I ring the bell and wait for the door to open. As I look up my eyes meet a tall muscular boy. Probably in his early twenties. He had a few tattoos and piercings and didn't look friendly at all after seeing me. Why is A-Yeong interested in Jungkook if she already has this guy? And why is he at her house?
"Who is it, oppa?"
"Uhm, a guy who I suppose is here to see you."
'Oppa'? Are they that close? Or wait-
A-Yeong appears from behind the tall guy and smiles at me. "Taehyung! You're here, come in."
"Yeah, am I early?"
"No, not at all. Right on time, in fact, come in."
I follow her inside, the house is not grand or huge. It's cozy, cute, and has men's clothes all over the couch for some reason. A-Yeong hurriedly moves the clothes away and motions me to sit.
"Sorry about that, my brother and dad are very messy."
"Ah come on! I'm not messy, I just forgot to pick it up."
"Yeah, whatever."
So he's her brother. Of course, he is, what was I thinking.
"Well, I'm ready so let's go?"
"Go where?"
Her brother eyes me.
"I'm going over to his house to tutor him. Now," she makes me stand up and we walk to the door, "bye."
"Which subject are you tutoring him on?"
"English. Byeeee."
She closed the door and walked out.
"I swear he asks too many questions."
"Nah, it's okay. I have a little sister too, I get it."
"Oh wait really? I'm so excited to meet her. Let's hope she's more fun than you." She giggled.
"Yah! I should be interesting enough for you, winning your crush's heart 101, get along with his best friend."
"Haha, sure sure. Gotcha, now let's get going."
***At Taehyung's House***
I walk in only to see my mom and sister overly excited at her arrival and have huge smiles on their faces. How do I tell them she likes Jungkook not me, she's just a friend.
"Hello Mrs. Kim and uh"
"Eonjin"
"Eonjin, precious and rare. Beautiful name." She smiled and Jinnie simply looked impressed.
"Oh my god, Unnie! You're so beautiful, just like Oppa said."
"Hi sweetheart, please come in."
"So, Taehyung thinks I'm beautiful huh?" She said and shifted her eyes on me.
"Please, I can't lie to that extent. My sister's just making up stuff. And before she talks more let's just go up to my room?"
"Sure, go ahead. I'll get your snacks in a few." Mom pitched in.
I lead A-Yeong to my bedroom and got my books ready. Ugh, I'm so dumb why would I ask for literature lessons in return.
"Alright, so tell me what you wanna start with."
"Character analysis. It's harder than it seems."
"Wha- are you kidding me? It's literally the easiest. But I'll help you out with it of course. Let's pick a book. How about the one we were reading today? Shadows between us?"
"Okay, uhm explain what's Alessandra is like."
"I'm not gonna give you answers straight away, I'm going to make sure you know where to start and how to go about it."
"Ok, this seems boring already."
She scoffs and continues. "I'm pretty sure there were two different phases the character went through till now. What was she like in the first chapter? When she was with Hektor."
"She was young and in love. She was nicer back then."
"What caused her to be not nice?"
"Hektor cheated, she didn't like that."
"So, what did she do?"
"Killed him."
"What was she like after that?"
"She felt better, she was proud, content. She didn't want anything serious after that, she just wanted power and pleasure with no strings attached."
"What's the difference between Alessandra before and after?"
"She was young, naïve, and blind in love. Now, she's smarter, witty, clever, and she knows what she's doing very well."
"So, what's the conclusion? What's Alessandra's character like from as much we've read?"
"She's different and has lost trust in love. She has great goals and only cares about being the queen."
"Well, that's it! It's that easy, you just need to pick up clues from the book and ask yourself questions about the character, and then you know about their personality. I don't know what was so hard in that."
"Ah, well she was nice now she's a badass. What's the big deal, why do we care?"
"Tae, lesson number one on literature. Understand the character so you can understand the book. It's very important to figure out what the protagonist or antagonist is like. While reading normally you just end up having an image of the characters in your head. And it's not just the physical appearance it's also the personality. And when you have assignments to do you just put that image into words."
"Wow- You seem so into all this. And you're good at explaining things."
"You just need the right words and you're good to go. Did you understand everything?"
"Mhm. There's not much to study in literature. So much to talk about though."
"So, let's talk. Trust me discussing is the best way to study when it comes to books. It's fun too." She smiles so much all the time. It makes her look so pretty. She's so down to earth, does Jungkook even deserve her. He keeps fooling around, I hope A-Yeong can change him.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Yeontan jumping on the bed. A-Yeong seemed a little startled at first but then her expression became softer. She looked at Tan with absolute love and admiration.
"Aww, is this your dog? He's adorable." She said taking him in her arms.
"Yeah, his name is Yeontan. I call him Tan though."
"Tan. Suits him. I haven't named mine, what do I call him?"
"Well, what does he look like?"
"I'm pretty sure he's a golden retriever."
"How about Oscar?"
"Wow, Tae that's a great name! Thank you." She beamed cheerfully and gave me a little hug.
She suddenly got a text and turned towards me.
"I've gotta go. My brother needs some help. I'll see you later."
"Oh, alright. I'll drop you off?"
"That'd be great, thank you."
My mom almost bumped into her with a plate of tteokbokki as we were going downstairs.
"You're going already?"
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Kim I have to. I'll be back some other time to taste this, it smells great."
"I'll be waiting then."
My sister wasn't very happy about her leaving either, not like I was but she had to go.

I left her on her door and watched her go as she waved goodbye.
"Lesson number one, listen to her when she's explaining something instead of staring."
