Chapter 7: CUPCAKE FLASHBACK FIVE
"Hhhhhh.. " Kitaro Eiji sighed.
That afternoon he sat in his room, looking out the window. His hand supports his chin. Contemplating all his deeds. He didn't know what to do. He had been kicked out of the school and punished by his father. His friends stayed away from him. He was treated like a prisoner by his father. He was furious. but unable to fight his father. What annoyed him even more was that his father lectured him every day. That was the punishment for him. He was not beaten by his father but listening and accepting the scathing words that came out of his father's mouth every day was the most painful torture that had ever happened in his life.
And he found his face in the mirror, frowning. His face was so ugly lately. The handsome face that he had always admired was destroyed by the annoyance and bitterness of life he was facing at that time. He thought that if his ugly face continued like that, he would no longer be able to get a pretty girl to be his girlfriend. He could no longer be a playboy. He should retire as a playboy.
He should be happy he didn't go to jail because of the kindness of Akira and his family. He learned from his father that Akira and his mother would not demand anything from him. They only asked him to stay away from Akira forever. And his father said that he should be grateful because he was very lucky.
But it turned out that Akira himself moved to Tokyo. Eiji learned about it from his father. So he didn't have to bother anymore to avoid Akira. Because with Akira leaving Yokohama, they would automatically never face each other again. After all, he's going to a new school.
Yoshikawa Hiro came to his house this morning. The boy scolded him all over. Kitaro Eiji was silent, not a word came out of his mouth. He knew from Hiro that Akira almost died from his punches and kicks. He just froze. Actually, in the depths of his heart he regretted it but never wanted to admit his mistakes directly in front of others. Hiro also told him that Akira had been suffering and living at the mercy of the Yoshikawa family. He often starves but Akira endures it because he still has pride. He didn't want to beg for mercy from others. Akira worked hard for his mother and himself. He and his mother often helped the Yoshikawa family for a small amount of money. In a state of hunger he could still study to get a scholarship, because that was the only way Akira can stay in school. Meanwhile, to be able to eat everyday, Akira and his mother help the Yoshikawa family. Doing household chores there.
Kitaro Eiji still remembered all the words Hiro said.
"What's wrong if he's a sissy? Does it hurt you? What's wrong with Akira, Eiji? It's none of your business regarding his personal life. What he wants to be like is Akira's business. Don't judge people by their appearance but try to accept them based on their behavior. If you don't like it don't talk to him. Avoid him. Only you hate him. And I think all your friends are just following along too, following your unrequited orders. The other friends don't hate Akira. Akira is so nice. He's an outstanding student, unlike you. You know, he almost died because of you Don't you regret it? He is indeed poor, Eiji. But he has a heart of gold. He never hated you. He even forgave you. You know, Akira forbade me to fight with you. He gave up on you bullying him. He never complained to anyone. And about your girlfriend. You should think. You've been rude to her. That's why she cut ties with you. It wasn't Akira's fault. He just happened to be there. And that afternoon you also made him starve. You beat him up and messed up with his lunch. You never know that Akira is often hungry coming to school and it is food to keep him alive for a day but you destroy it. How vicious you are, Eiji. I regret having a friend like you." Hiro said that morning when he came to the Kitaro family house.
Kitaro Eiji just kept silent, unable to resist the words that came out of Hiro's mouth. He chose to remain silent because he knew he had been wronged.
"You should be grateful that you just got kicked out of school. Akira and his mother don't want to sue you. Akira forgives you, you know! Think about how good he is. You know, Akira actually came from a Yakuza family!! You don't know that do you?" Hiro continued again.
Kitaro Eiji was flabbergasted. He was scared. He was worried for his life. He knew what "Yakuza" meant. Then, "Is that true, Hiro?" Kitaro Eiji asked.
"Yes. That's right. Akira's grandfather was a Yakuza. You should have met him. Let you know how terrifying the aura his grandfather gave off is. You will be pissing yourself! Be thankful that Akira's grandfather didn't make any actions with you. He left all the solutions to Akira and his mother. They won't hurt you or your family. He's so kind. Don't you regret everything you did? Actually I don't hate you, Eiji. I scolded you because you were my childhood friend. I have known you since we were children. I care about you. Change for the better. This is for your own good."
Kitaro Eiji regretted his actions. He cried for the sake of hearing everything Hiro said about Akira.
"I regret it , Hiro. I'm so sorry for what I did. I promise I'll never do anything bad again. Can I still see him? I want to apologize. I want him to forgive me." asked Kitaro Eiji.
Hiro shook his head. "He's gone, Eiji. Akira moved to Tokyo. His mother is afraid that this will happen again."
Kitaro covered his face with his palms. His shoulders shook. Hiro patted his back. Trying to calm his friend's heart.
"Promise yourself that you will not repeat what you did to Akira or anyone else. By doing good, you will be able to repay all your mistakes to Akira."
Kitaro Eiji wiped the tears that were flowing down his cheeks. He regretted his actions. He will try to change to be good in order to make up for all his mistakes. He wanted to be better person. And secretly he seeks Akira's whereabouts to apologize. But Akira seemed to have disappeared into the earth. No one knows the news. Hiro never wanted to tell him Akira's address in Tokyo. He swallowed all his sins himself. He was waiting for his karma.
