Chapter 2: New Moon

Sylvia's POV

I was sitting on my bed in my room trying to finish my story who's deadline was in a week. Oh you don't know who I am right? Let me give you a short and sweet introduction to myself.

Hi, I'm Sylvia MaCall, the younger twin of the MaCall siblings. Younger, smarter, and more responsible one. Who's a pushover when it comes to my childhood friend.

I write stories and upload them on Wattpad premium and earn like $1,000 - $2,000 a month along with part timing in the veterinary.

I heard my room door slam open and looked back. "Scott- what the hell?!" My older brother by 7 minutes comes in unannounced and took my baseball bat and went out.

"Where are you going with my bat?" I asked following him outside. "Shh! Keep quiet! I think I heard something." He hushed me and I rolled my eyes as we were at the front porch.

Suddenly, a figure appears hanging from our roof, and we yelp in terror, with Scott almost hitting the person in the face with his bat until we realizes that it is Stiles Stilinski, our best friend, who was yelping just as loudly as we were.

"AHH! AHHH! AHHHH!" We screamed while Scott huffs in frustration and annoyance before lowering his bat. "Stiles, what the hell are you doing?!" Scott asked. "You gave me a mini heart attack!" I rubbed my chest.

"You weren't answering your phones! Why do you have a bat?" Stiled asked. "I thought you were a predator!" Scott replied annoyed. "A pre... Wha?" He looked at him appalled.

"Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this." Stiled scoffing before changing the subject. "What?" I asked.

"I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called-- they're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even state police." He replied.

"For what?!" We asked frowning. "Two joggers found a body in the woods." He replied. "What, a dead body?!" Scott asked surprised

Stiles reaches up and leans on the railing to look at Scott at eye-level with a sarcastic expression before landing on his feet. "No, a body of water. Yes, dumbass, a dead body!" He replied sarcastically.

"You mean, like, murdered?" Scott asked. "Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties." He replied.

"Hold on, if they found the body, then what are they looking for?" Scott asked. "That's the best part-- they only found half." He replied. "No way!" I gasped. "We're going!" Stiles announced.

"No we're not!" I replied scowling. "Yes we are baby." He said. "No were not!" I said.

'Fuck!'

The three of us pull into the preserve in Stiles' teal blue Jeep, illuminating the sign warning against entry after dark with the Jeep's headlights.

Stiles gets out with a flashlight in hand. While we follow him, hurrying to keep up with him as the walk in the dark woods.

"We're seriously doing this?" Scott asked. "Yeah.... doesn't sound good to me." I agreed pulling my jacket closer, that I was wearing on my nightgown to warm my body.

"You're the ones always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." Stiles replied. "Yeah... but.... I... this is not what I expected." I shrugged.

"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow." Said Scott. "Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort." Stiles scoffed.

"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line." He said and we looked at him in disbelief.

"Hey, that's the spirit! Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one." Stiles speaks up sarcastically.

"No offense brother, but you should really stop dreaming of constructing buildings on air." I advised. "That was really! I mean really! Offensive!" Scott replied and I chuckled.

"Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?" Scott asked. "Huh! I didn't even think about that." Stiles replied. "And, uh... what if whoever killed the body is still out here?" He asked.

"Also something I didn't think about." Stiles replied embaressed. "You Bas-! Are you planning on killing us?!" I asked grabbing his collar and he laughed nervously.

"It's comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail." Scott rolls his eyes in amusement. "I know!" Stiles exclaimed.

"Stiles a little help here please." I asked climbing up hill and he took my hands pulling me up. As the three of us continue up the hill, with Scott struggling to keep up with us.

"Brother you okay?!" I asked. "Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" Scott replied leaning against a nearby tree as he inhaled from his inhaler.

When we see a handful of people ahead of us waving flashlights around as part of the search me, Stiles and Scott dive behind a large fallen tree branch to hide ourselves.

"Turn off the flashlight you idiot!" I whisper yelled and he did so that we don't attract much attention. Then thanks to Stiles impatience he jumps up and runs to action.

To my dismay, he dragged me along to his mess. Then as we flee a nearby K9 officer to start barking at us. "Eeek!! No! No no no no hell no!" We fall down. 'No, I'm terrified of DOGS!!'

Scaring us so much we falls backwards onto the ground. The deputy with the search dog immediately points his flashlight at us.

"Hold it right there! Hang on, hang on..." Stiles father sighed.

Stiles puts his hands up while Scott, several meters behind us, hides behind a nearby tree.

"These little delinquent belong to me." Said Stilinski exasperated. "Dad, how are you doing?" Says Stiles, trying to play it cool and greets his dad warmly. "Hi...." I replied nervously waving my hand at him.

"So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?" Stilinski asked and Stiles laughed sheepishly before replying. "No. Heh... Not the boring ones."

Stilinski just sighs and nods as though he's accepted this truth about his son before looking around the surrounding area. 'What's he looking for?'

"Now, where's your usual partner in crime?" He asked. "Who, Scott?, Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for first day back at school tomorrow." Stiles replied playing dumb.

Stilinski looks at Stiles in disbelief as he continues to lie. "It's just us... In the woods... all Alone..." He said and I groaned. 'That sounded so wrong! I exclaimed.

"Scott, you out there? Scott?!" Stilinski asked, obviously who didn't buy what Stiles was saying, but Scott didn't move from his place for our relief.

He then sighs before grabbing Stiles roughly by the back of the neck. "Well, young man, and lady I'm gonna walk you back to your car..." He said and chuckled.

"And then you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called "invasion of privacy." Said Stilinski. Then Stiles drives me to my house.

Scott comes home after half an hour or so. "Oh my God! Scott what the hell happened?!" I asked looking the wound by his abdomen. "No its nothing." He replied brushing me off.

I frowned but still helped him bandage his big bite mark. He didn't say anything and we both went to sleep.

Later Next Day

BEACON HILLS HIGH SCHOOL.

Syl! Come on well be late! Scott my brother yelled from downstairs. Coming! I yelled back. I looked at myself on last time in the mirror and winked at myself. 'You look perfect!'

Scott is riding his mountain bike while I drove my motorcycle which was a second handed Honda Shadow RS, I got from winning a bet with a senior in Blackjack.

We went on the same pace as we reached through the school parking lot. I parked my bike and so did he. Scott jumps off just as he makes it to the bike rack in front of the school.

He takes off his helmet and hangs it on the handlebars, adjusting his backpack with his lacrosse stick strapped to the back.

Jackson who had parked his Porsche next to us came out of the car, hitting Scott in the back with the door before shooting him a nasty look.

"Dude! Watch the paint job." He scoffed and Scott looks at him with an offended expression. "Oh come Jackson stop being rude so early in the morning!" I said smacking his shoulder.

"Good morning babe!" He kisses my cheeks before leaving us as a friend of his called him. "That Bastard!" Scott cursed and wiped my cheeks with his shirt sleeves.

"It's been 2 years since you've broken up. Why does he still kiss you?! And why do you let him kiss you?!" He asked and I looked offended. "Hey, how is that my fault? He came by surprise." I replied.

Yeah... you guys don't know right? Yes! Me Sylvia MaCall and Jackson Whittemore were once the campus King and Queen, but we broke up.

We never kissed. I mean we never... actually kissed each other cause I was and am still very shy when it comes to intimate stuff.

But one day Jackson forced himself onto me. 'Bitch should've kissed me first!!' And I kicked his balls. The next day he officially broke up with me.

I truly loved him so the break up was hard and caused me depression. Ans guess what?! I didn't do drugs or alcohol but lost lots of weight. Both of us got over it and started anew as friends.

Then we go to the front of the school and met up with Stiles. "Okay, let's see this thing." Stiles asked and Scott lefts up his shirt to show Stiles his bite wound, which is covered with gauze and tape.

Stiles pokes the bandage, which causes Scott to flinch in pain. "Whoa!" Scott pulls his shirt back down as we resume our walk into the school.

"It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf." Said Scott and we looked at Scott in disbelief

"A wolf bit you?" Stiles asked. "You... sure.....?" I asked. "Uh-huh." My brother replied.

"No, not a chance." Stiles said shaking his head. "I heard a wolf howling." Scott replied confused. "No, you didn't." He replied.

"What do you mean, "No, I didn't?" How do you know what I heard?" Scott asked frustrated. "Because California doesn't have wolves brother." I replied.

"Not in, like, sixty years." Stiles said what I was about to say. "Really?" He asked surprised by the new information. "Yes, really. There are no wolves in California!" Stiles assured.

"All right. Well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me when I tell you I found the body." Said Scott.

"You-- are you kidding me?!" Stiles' demeanor instantly changes from exasperation to gleeful at the sound of this news.

"No, man, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month." He replied. "Oh, god, that is freakin' awesome. I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since--"

Stiles loses his train of thoughts when he sees Lydia Martin, Queen Bee of Beacon Hills High School.

"-Since the birth of Lydia Martin. Hey, Lydia! You look--"

Lydia continues to walk right past Stiles, completely oblivious to the fact that he was talking to her.

"--Like you're gonna ignore me..."

Stiles looks back at us with an irritable expression and I shrugged.

"You're the cause of this, you know!" He said. "Uh-huh." Scott agreed and I chuckled.

"Draggin' me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association. I've been Scarlet-nerded by you!" Accused Stiles and I chuckled.

"Stiles, you are wearing a minimalist Captain America shirt. Stop pointing fingers." I said amused. "Oh shut up! Not everyone is as stylish as you are." He replied.

English Class

Me, Scott and Stiles enter our first period English class and take their seats, where the teacher, Mr. Curtis, immediately begins the lecture without introduction.

"As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night...."

Scott grins and we look over at Stiles, who is in the desk one row and one column behind him and next to mine who winks at him knowingly.

"And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody."

"Which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus, which is on your desk outlining this semester." He exaploed and everyone groaned as I looked at syllabus.

"Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome." Our Vice-Principal introduced the new girl and left.

Allison, who looks nervous, smiles weakly before finding the only open seat in the class, which just happens to be the seat behind Scott and to the right of me.

After school ends, the students file out and go to their lockers. Mine and Scott's locker is across the hallway and several meters down from Allison's.

I catch Scott and Allison staring and smiles at him making me roll my eyes. Just then, Lydia approaches Allison and strikes up a conversation.

"Can someone tell me how New Girl is here all of five minutes, and she's already hanging out with Lydia's clique?" Harley a classmate asked.

"Because she's hot. Beautiful people herd together." Stiles replied honestly and I chuckled putting my things in and took out my gym clothes. "Then even Sylvia one day will be in their gang." She sighed.

"Huh! Noway in hell am, as if I'll I lett that happen! Over my dead body!!" Stiles replied slinging his hands around my neck and I chuckled as they started bickering.

"Hey, Syl you're coming right?! For the practice?!" Jackson asked smirking and I sighed. "Yeah.. I'll come with Stiles and Scott now go get changed...." I gestured him to leave.

Oh yeah did I tell you guys..... I'm the only manager of the LaCrosse Team.

LACROSSE FIELD

I changed into my gym clothes in the GIRLS locker room and went outside. With a writing pad in my arms and a whistle around my neck.

The lacrosse team has gathered on the lacrosse field, where the players are warming up by passing the ball back and forth as other students congregate in the bleachers to watch the team play.

And I was having small talk with the coach. "But if you play, I'll have no one to talk to on the bench. Are you really gonna do that to your best friend?" Stiles asked as him and my brother arrive.

"I can't sit out again. My whole life is sitting on the sidelines. This season, I make first line." He replied pouting. Soo cute. "McCall!" Finstock. The coach yelled.

"Yeah?" Scott asked as he came to us.

Coach roughly tosses a lacrosse stick with a much bigger net and a bigger helmet to Scott, who catches them after they smack him on the chest and my eyes narrow in confusion

"You're on goal." He said and we frowned. "He's / I've never played... on goal.... " We replied simultaneously.

"I know-- scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first-day-back thing." Coach smacks Scott on the shoulder for emphasis. "Get 'em energized! Fired up!" He replied.

"What about me?" Scott asked. "Try not to take any in the face." Coach smacks Scott lightly on the cheek and I looked at him pitifully. "I'll talk to him if you hate it that much..."

I ruffled his hair and put on the helmet. "Nah... I'll do it." He replied and went to the goal. "Let's go! Come on!" Coach cheered and I went to stand beside him. "That is called bullying." I said.

"Well I call it boosting ego. Now shut up!" He spated to my face and I groan. "Who is that?" Allison jerks her head in Scott's direction. "Him? I'm not sure who he is. Why?" Lydia asked.

I whiped my face towards her so hard I'm surprised I didn't get a whiplash. "He's in my English class." She replied. "Lydia, come on! He's my brother!" I exasperated and she shrugged.

Scott nearly goes deaf when I blow the whistle to start the practice. "Was that loud?!" I asked the person standing next to me. "Huh?! I couldn't even hear it!" Blow louder next time! Coach replied and I shrugged.

This makes Scott a prime target for Jackson, who takes a shot at the goal while Scott is still recovering.

The ball hits him right in the front of his helmet with so much force that he's knocked backwards onto the ground making me wince.

His distraction earns him a lacrosse ball in the face. That hurt even though I didn't get hurt.

"Hey, way to catch with your face, McCall!" Coach Finstock, Jackson, and the rest of the team members immediately start laughing and making fun of him.

The next player tosses the ball towards him, and Scott catches it easily, to the point where he's visibly stunned that he was able to do so.

"Yeah!!!" Me and Stiles cheer happily.

The second, third, fourth, and fifth shots are caught by Scott just as easily. Coach Finstock simply stares at Scott with his mouth open as though he can't believe what he's seeing.

"What are you feeding him Sylvia?: Coach asked and I huffed happily. "It's a secret!" I smirked.

Scott is practically giddy as he bounces on the balls of his feet and smiles, which only makes Jackson more angry.

Jackson runs as fast as he can toward the goal and tosses the ball with all the force he can muster, but to Scott catches it without hesitation.

"YEAH!!! WOOOO! THAT'S MY FRIEND! / BROTHER!!" Me and Stiles Cheered loudly hugging each other.
