Chapter 30: Devilishly handsome.

It was 6:23pm when Jason arrived at home, his bag was a little swollen because of the egg he carried in it, his mom seemed to have gotten used to him coming home a little late, and as a result she didn't say much.

Walking up to his room Jason gently removed the egg from his bag as he carefully put it on his table, he knew nothing about hatching eggs, so he had no idea what to do with it.

The egg was completely white, with a small black dot in the middle, feeling puzzled on what to do, Jason activated {discerning eyes} and was surprised to see that the egg seemed to be absorbing genetic energy,

"What?"

Jason muttered to himself feeling surprised, as a genetic warrior, he had a certain level of sensitivity towards genetic energy, but he couldn't fee--

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

His thoughts where interrupted by his heart beat, "what's happening to me," Jason thought to himself as he walked downstairs, he decided that he would visit a hospital tomorrow, to do a checkup.

And yes, genetic warriors could get sick, almost every living thing got mutated by genetic energy, viruses and germs included, well you might be wondering what would happen would happen if a mutated germ where to invade a normal human's body, the answer is absolutely nothing, the viruses evolved to be able to infect genetic warriors, and as a result they lost the ability to infect normal humans.

By now Jason had already reached the kitchen, Dalia and Anna seem to be done with cooking, seeing this, Jason helped them set the table.

The family of three ate happily, as Anna was cheerful as usual as they ate, Jason suddenly said, "I'm participating in this year's selection, it's going to be held outside the dome," the whole table got silent as Dalia frowned a little, but chose to stay silent.

The atmosphere turned solemn as Anna dropped her spoon, "you're going outside the dome?"

Looking towards Anna who had teary eyes Dalia said, "don't worry about it honey, your brother is really strong," saying this Dalia patted Anna on the head "yeah don't worry, I'm really strong," Jason said as he lifted his arm up in an exaggerated manner as it slowly changed into a silver color.

Picking up a teacup from the table Jason squeezed it with his bare hands grinding it into dust.

"Wow!"

Anna exclaimed in childlike wonder, looking towards Anna Jason chuckled at how easy it was to distract her, seeing Jason waste a perfectly good teacup Dalia frowned a little, but said nothing.

In a few minutes they were done with eating, and as they were about to clean up the dinner table Dalia stopped them her voice trembling slightly, as she said in a solemn tone, "it's time I tell you about your father."

It was as if a bomb had just been dropped as Jason and Anna listened quietly, the both of them grew up without a father, as they had only vague memories of him, and among the both of them Jason had the clearest memory of his father.

He was a fairly average looking man, but what Jason remembered most about his father was the scar on his left cheek, he remembered running his little arms against that scar out of curiosity.

The four of them seemed to be a happy family, until one day he disappeared, growing up, they always wondered what happened to their father, but anytime they asked their mother about it she would always burst into tears midway.

Hearing his mother's trembling voice Jason frowned a little but quickly changed it into a smile, he knew his father wasn't a good person, as somebody that was able to abandon his family had no right to be called a father.

"Mom there's no need to tell us now, maybe tomorrow," Jason said as he stood up to clean the dinner table, while Anna went to comfort Dalia.

But Dalia was persistent, right after Jason was done with cleaning the dinner table her eyes shone with resolution as she said.

"I met your father in freeds-bar, they're closed now but back then it was a famous place for all young adults to hang out, I had just gotten a job as a science teacher and was out with some friends to celebrate."

Dalia looked into the distance as if recounting her experience as she continued, "He approached me, at that time, the domes weren't even up yet, we were constantly at war with the awakened monsters, and the smell of gunpowder pervaded the air as you could hear faint explosions from the distance."

After a short pause Dalia continued, "Occasionally, a roar that could make your heart skip a beat could be heard from a distance, but the people didn't feel bothered by it in the slightest."

Pausing a bit Dalia looked towards Jason as she smiled, but her smile didn't seem too happy, "He seemed to be serving in the military, but I wasn't interested in him, but one good thing you should know about you father is that he doesn't give up easily."

"He was persistent, not giving up, even after I had turned him down multiple times, he would do and say the most romantic things, and after a few years we got married."

"Your father seemed to be a good man, and a good father," saying this Dalia glanced towards Anna as she patted her on the head, "But after Anna's birth, he started acting weird."

"He started becoming more distant, he wouldn't come home for weeks, he would yell at me constantly hitting me."

"Well it turns out he was after something the whole time," saying this her eyes began to get watery, "An old book given to me by my mother, that's what he wanted, and immediately he found it he disappeared."

"I didn't see your father for years, and with him gone I had to get a Job, as I quit my old Job as a teacher to properly take care of you both."

"I wanted to get my old Job back, but they wouldn't accept me back, a close friend of mine that was teaching in the school said it was an order from the top, somebody from the blade family to be exact."

"Hahaha," with a laugh that was full of pain Dalia said, "I had hoped that this was all a nightmare, that I would wake up at some point, or that he would come back, walking through that door, but no not only did he leave me, he was deliberately making things difficult for me."

"I saw him once, when I just got a job at the restaurant I currently work in," pausing Dalia said as her voice cracked a little, "I would never forget the look of disgust in his eyes as he talked to me, treating me like a stranger as he helped a young woman with two kids about your age out of the car.

"Well turns out, he was the young master of the blade family, and after that I never saw him again."

*********************************

In his room Jason was in deep thought as he looked towards the clock on the wall, it was 8:21 and he still couldn't sleep, both him and his sister spent a lot of time consoling Dalia, his mind flashed back to his mom's shaky voice that was filled with pain anytime she mentioned his father, he felt like killing him, he had never felt this mush hatred before, suddenly.

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

The sound of his heartbeat could be heard as Jason's heart thundered inside his chest, "Ahhhhhhh!" Jason yelled as he felt like his chest was goanna burst, the world around him was spinning as overwhelming pain spread across his entire body, beads of sweat flowed down his head.

Suddenly Jason was scared out of his wits as no noise could be heard in his surrounding's his heart stopped, the pain stopped.

He could no longer hear the sound of the night wind blowing against the trees, or the hooting of that annoying owl that lived in his backyard.

Jason slowly fell to the ground, as he felt his world slowly becoming darker, the human body couldn't function without a beating heart.

The pain had stopped, the music had stopped, and everything seemed to pause.

Suddenly a heartbeat of another rhythm could be heard.

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

"Thump!"

Jason's body got up, as his pitch black hair turned completely white, his black eyes slowly turned red, and his facial futures looked a little different.

He walked awkwardly, as if unfamiliar with movement in a human body, breathing in fresh air a voice a lot deeper than Jason's sounded out as it spoke calmly into the night, "I've forgotten how this feel's."

Suddenly, an angry voice sounded out from inside his mind, "old dude, what are you doing possessing my body, don't you have a throne to sit on," it was Jason's voice, he could see everything and he could partly feel what the ancient man was thinking, and thanks to that he knew this was temporary.

But he also kne—"hey kid I'm goanna take your body for a test run," the ancient man said before Jason could finish his thought's, grabbing a hoody and pants the ancient man picked up a face mask from the table, looking towards the window Jason could already tell what he was planning.

And with a whoosh, he jumped out of a two floor building, his white hair waving in the wind, his red eyes gave off an otherworldly sense of mystery, and with a face like that there was only one word to describe him,

Devilishly handsome.
