Chapter 23: Quest System Activation!

Roy gazed at his Id in delight, this world was really interesting just like most pokemon games. He couldn't wait to explore the many places around the region.

"Here you go, your Pokedex has been updated. You can insert your id into your Pokedex right now to create a pin code, you will also be given other options to secure your finances and personal information." The woman linked Roy's Pokedex to the computer so he could create his pin code.

Roy nodded and went over a few steps, he also added extra security to prevent theft. Once Roy was linked in, he saw his finances. Roy naturally had ₽0 on his card since they didn't reward cash, but Roy did notice that he had 15,000 merit points on his account.

"Nice!" It was as simple as a swipe to earn and spent like in his old world. When thinking about his old world, Roy was truly grateful to be given this opportunity to travel throughout this world.

"Everything checks out, you're all set!" The woman nodded. Right as she said that, another person entered the room, to be exact, two people came in.

It was Ripley and Paul that walked in.

They were immediately greeted by the woman. At the same time, a man came from out back to help the woman. He took care of one of the two, while the woman naturally handled the other.

Ripley grinned when she saw Roy, but quickly went to greet the woman afterward. Roy took a seat next to Jayce and remained silent, he simply closed his eyes and daydreamed to himself.

As time went on, more and more people entered the room. There were only 32 seats inside the room, no more no less.

The man who was handing out Pokedexes had disappeared from that area with those Pokedex after giving one to Diana. He was supposed to hand out Pokedexes to the people from the first to the tenth placement.

The lady behind the desk merely started handing out their identification cards. She only told them that they had to go to a Pokemon Center or Pokemon Alliance branch to check their currency balance.

Both Troy and Diana were all smiles after receiving their rewards. A man appeared in front of everyone and told them that they were free to go; they were all officially trainers now. Afterward, they were all calmly escorted out of the building.

Roy's parents were naturally waiting in the car. When they saw Roy and his siblings coming, their expressions were filled with expectations.

No one spoke on their way to the car, but the smiles on their faces said it all. Everyone got into the car before his dad drove off.

Although Diana was happy, she sighed to herself when she saw that her brothers had spatial backpacks.

"How was it? Did you guys get all of your rewards?" Diane asked excitedly.

"Yes, we received everything that they promised to reward us." Troy was the first to speak, he seemed the happiest.

"What pokemon did you guys pick? You know what, let's wait until we get home to see them instead of ruining it with our mouths." Diane stopped them in their tracks, she would rather see it with her eyes than be told.

"Hahaha, yes, let's wait until we get home. Afterward, I want to go to route 29 with my friend to catch some pokemon." Diana and her friend had talked about this for a while now, they wanted to explore this place first.

"Well, if that's what you want, then you can go. But you must be careful, the number of fatalities in the wild for people your age has grown throughout the years." Royce warned. He had always kept up with these kinds of statistics.

"Of course, we'll be together so nothing will go wrong." Diana was just saying this but she wasn't sure herself.

"How about this, you can give her one of your pokemon just in case things go south," Roy suggested.

They were only going to explore route 29 for a bit, they weren't planning on actually starting their journey until tomorrow. They would come back later and hand their borrowed pokemon back over to their parents.

"Oh, that's a great idea!" Royce nodded and agreed instantly.

"Also, can you take me to the Pokemart? There are some items I want to buy before leaving, it's best for me to stock up." Roy thought for a moment and decided that this was the best time to stock up on some supplies.

"Oh, okay, If you need help buying anything, let me know. You don't have to buy Poke balls, we've bought plenty for you guys—over the years." Diane sighed. The days with her children were coming to a close, she could only help prepare to send them on their way.

"That's right, we do need some supplies, we'll have to see what they have. I heard they had some new things. They have new items to help trap and capture pokemon." Troy had seen a few advertisements on television.

Royce quickly steered toward the Pokemart closest to their home. After a while, they parked in front of the Pokemart. Roy and his siblings quickly got out, he wasn't sure about his brother and sister but he brought his money with him.

Ding ling~

The entrance door chimed when they entered. The Pokemart, as usual, had a nice blue roof but this actual store was much larger than in the games or show.

Once they were inside, they saw many shelves that held a plethora of different items. There were other people cruising down the aisles and loading their baskets up.

Since there were many other people browsing around, no one would come to greet them. There were two store clerks standing behind the front counter talking to each other.

"Ah, crap, I left my money at home!" Troy checked all of his pockets and found that he only brought a few poke dollars with him. Diana was the same but she brought absolutely nothing, they weren't expecting to visit the Pokemart.

Roy only smiled before heading down one of the aisles. There were selling all the things you would expect from a Pokemart. If you wanted to buy Poke balls, you would need to buy them at the counter, since they were behind the counter.

Roy saw that they were selling Potions, Super Potions, Burn Heal, etc. What really stunned Roy was that they were selling different types of Lures, Incense, and berries. These berries could be eaten by humans and of course, pokemon.

However, the main purpose, or what every item in this aisle had in common—was to lure and trap pokemon. This shop was even selling fishing rods; something Roy took an interest in right away.

"Dang, it! I need money, and I need a lot of it!" Roy had a total of ₽37,000 on him, this was due to the allowance he had saved up over the years. His sister had the most money among them, but she didn't bring a dime of it with her.

Roy couldn't afford a really good fishing rod, the really good one could attract a larger pool of pokemon. This didn't stop, he would just earn money, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle now.

Roy started to load up his basket with the items he wanted. He bought different types of Incense and Lures. Berries were another thing, he bought jars of honey with the pokemon Vespiquen and Combee on the covers.

Roy had seen a few things his parents had prepared for him his and siblings. They had already bought things such as camping tents, cooking supplies, lighters, and other survivalist tools.

The things Roy was buying were things that benefitted luring pokemon.

"Oh, boy, it's a good thing we get these storage bags. I couldn't imagine carrying these around with one." Unfortunately, this would become a problem for his sister since she didn't earn the qualifications to get one.

"These Incense, there are different types that attract different types of pokemon. The coloration and tags on them display what types they cater to catching." The lid on these Incense could be removed before releasing an alluring smell that certain types of pokemon couldn't resist.

Roy bought a few Incense, as these Incense modules could be refilled at any Pokemart for a decent price. Roy sadly couldn't afford a fishing rod, even the lowest quality fishing rod was ₽30,000.

He would rather not spend most of his money on a fishing rod right now. Roy stuffed everything on the counter that he was going to buy.

"Okay, will this be everything?" The man asked.

"Yep, that'll do it." Roy nodded.

"What? You're buying all of this?" Troy was stunned. From the looks of it, his brother was going to hunt pokemon down with these items.

"Of course, I have to catch them all. Our Pokedexes are for that reason, well, one of the reasons other than providing information and contacting others." The Pokedex could keep a record of who he caught.

"I'll have to catch as many as I can. Me and Mira will head to route 29 today or tomorrow to catch some pokemon." Diana had a pokemon in mind she wanted to capture, but this pokemon only appeared at a certain time of the day.

"Your total comes up to ₽13,500." The store clerk suddenly said.

"Oh, okay, here you go." Roy paid the clerk, who proceeded to bag his items afterward. He didn't do much, Roy simply took them and placed them into his storage backpack.

The clerk's eyes widened when he saw this before looking at Roy strangely.

'Aye, I didn't steal anything.' Blacklines appear on Roy's forehead as he thought to himself. The clerk didn't press him about and dismissed it.

Roy thought for a moment and decided to buy some Poke balls as well. He knew his parent had some on the ready for him, but you couldn't have enough Poke balls. Roy bought 10 Poke balls, which cost him ₽3000.

Afterward, he exited the shop. Troy and Diana could only watch, they didn't have money or didn't bring much at all. They could only go home and come back to stock up on supplies.

[Ding! Congratulations, you've activated the Quest System!]

Right as he walked out of the shop, he heard a notification go off in his head.

[Congratulations, your Starter Box has been added to your Void Inventory, would like to open it?]

'So it finally activated, but I haven't really started yet. It must have been activated after I met certain requirements.' Roy thought and concluded.

'Not now.' Roy declined. He wasn't sure if anyone would be able to see the system activation. Roy wanted to go home to his room to activate it, or at least a secluded place.

"Is something wrong, Roy?" Diana turned to Roy and asked. He had suddenly stopped on the sidewalk with a thoughtful expression.

"Oh, no, nothing, let's go!"

"I'm coming back here later, I must buy some supplies before capturing pokemon." Diana stared back at the Pokemart before getting into the car.
