Chapter 10: Chapter 10:- First undead 'Shadow'

The sound of footsteps attracted the zombie's attention. In a matter of seconds, more than hundreds of zombies began rushing following their instinct to attack and to attack the humans that were in front of them.
The Goddess Selene, Aditya, and his first undead, Shadow all three charged forward to kill the horde of zombies. Their aim was to clear this building by killing all the zombies. The individuals had three different unique styles of fighting the zombies.
The Goddess Selene moved very elegantly. Each time she swung her sword while moving her body, to others it looked like she was dancing. She had this Aura of nobility that made it difficult for others to avoid looking at her. Each of the moves was swift and flexible.
Aditya's undead, Shadow was completely different from the Goddess. Even a non-sword user can tell the difference between the Goddess and the undead. While the Goddess showed her years of experience when killing zombies, Shadow's movements were rather stiff and unrefined.
While the Goddess was someone who had unknown years of experience in using her swords, Aditya's first undead had just started using swords around an hour ago.
It wouldn't be wrong to say that Aditya's fighting style was the most unique one. Instead of fighting in the front line, he managed to come up with a new method of slaughtering zombies.
Shadow Manipulation!
Using a vine of shadow to hold the sword which he previously used to kill zombies, Aditya controlled the shadow vine to attack the zombies while staying behind. At first, Aditya underestimated the power of this technique. The speed and the weight of the sword were difficult to control as Aditya never had any experience in using his shadow Manipulation powers. Gaining Shadow Manipulation powers did not give him enough experience. He had the power and now he had to learn to use it.
But after a few failures, Aditya managed to successfully control the speed and the power of the vine. The vine had come out of his shadow. It attacked the horde of zombies like a tentacle that has been given a sword.
The shadow tentacle hovered head the horde of zombies. The zombies could not even think of avoiding the attack from the shadow tentacle as the tentacle moved so fast that even Aditya doubted if he can dodge the attack in time.

By the time, the team was done, Selene and Aditya's Shadow both had managed to level up. Aditya is still not sure about Selene's level. As the experience points that she needed to level up had decreased by half, Aditya felt that Selene's current level should be higher than his level.
"Finally done." It has been a few hours since she, Aditya, and his first undead have started killing zombies. The zombies on the second and the first floor were way higher than Selene had imagined. The sound of their fighting only kept on attracting more zombies. This dragged the whole fight for a few hours.
Selene looked at the 5 feet and 10 inches tall black skeleton that was silently cleaning its sword with a piece of cloth and sighed. 'Though I am not that fond of undeads, I have to admit that if we did not have this undead fighting with us, things could have become very tough for us. Even though my and Aditya's powers increase during the night times, we still couldn't have possibly taken on a few thousand zombies at once. We would have been left with no choice but to retreat.'
'But to think that I would level up only once after killing this many zombies. Sigh! I guess from now on, we will have to fight mutant animals or evolved zombies. Otherwise, to reach the next level, the number of zombies that I might have to kill would be above 10,000.' Selene did not feel tired even after fighting for hours. Being the Goddess of the Moon, in the night, her powers increased by multiple times. The moonlight helped her and also recovered her exhausted mana at a rapid speed.
Meanwhile, Aditya was busy checking the system. 'Dammit! I still haven't leveled up yet. In this fight, I and my undead have killed at least more than two thousand zombies. Even though Shadow managed to level up, my level still remained the same. It looks like I will have no choice but to hunt for stronger mutated animals or zombies that have managed to level up.'
According to Selene, all types of animals had the leveling system. The zombies can also level up but they are not aware of the leveling system because of their low intelligence. The same thing can be said for wild animals.
But the zombies and the Wild animals that now have become mutated animals won't remain low-intelligence creatures for a long time. As long as they manage to reach the 1st-tier, they would have the same intelligence as an adult human. At that time they too also can make independent choices and control their stats. Right now all the mutated animals and the zombie's free stats were randomly put on one of the stats on which the zombie or the mutated animal excelled.
For example, if a zombie happens to have a talent for being a mage, whenever that zombie levels up and gains one free stats point, that free stats point would be put to Mana. Not only that, based on their instinct, the mutated animals and zombies can make a choice and decide which job would suit them the best.

Since Shadow was Aditya's undead, only he had the right to choose how he was going to distribute his Shadow's free stats points. "Selene, do you know why my undead does not possess any skills?" This question bothered Aditya. When the system arrived, he received shadow Manipulation skills. Why didn't his undead gain any skills even after leveling up 9 times.'
Selene rolled her eyes at Aditya. "Mortal, you have no idea just how lucky you're to be able to awaken Shadow Manipulation power. Wishing for your undeads to also have powers from the beginning is too much."
"In case you don't know let me explain. Not everyone human in this world has managed to awaken some random power or ability. The number of humans who have awakened some random ability is less than one percent. Can you even imagine how lucky you're? As you told me before, this world had almost 8 billion people. You're a part of a group that was lucky enough to survive being turned into a zombie and on top of that you all managed to get awakened random powers."
"Even though many people managed to survive the mana and not turn into zombies when they were attacked by the zombies, they could not defend themselves and ended up turning into zombies. If you also had failed to awaken your powers, you also would have died."
"Selene, can my undeads get some powers or skills when they choose a job after reaching level 10?" Aditya asked. Aditya knew that he was extremely lucky to awaken his powers. But he also believed that even without his powers, he would have survived. Aditya had this courage in his heart.
"Normally when undeads reach level 10 they only get the option of choosing either undead mage or undead warrior class. Aside from that, your undead will have any other choice." Aditya felt a little disappointed hearing Selene's words. Since shadow did not have that much mana, his option was limited to Undead warriors.
"Those who have a talent for being a mage tend to have more mana than average people." This also explains why Aditya had more mana than his other stats.
"Aditya, what are you going to do now? We cannot stay in this building forever." Since Aditya was planning on building his faction, he would need capable and strong men and women. Aditya will have to save a lot of humans and bring them under his faction.
Though Aditya was cold when killing enemies and his coldness is what always allowed him to remain calm even in life and death situations. He still was a human at the end of the day. His attachment to humanity made him want to save humans in desperate situations.
When he and Selene were clearing all the zombies, Aditya deep down always prayed and wished to make it in time and save a human life. He did not want another incident like the previous one to happen but at the end of the day Aditya was no God and it was impossible to make it in time to save every human.
"By the way, I have been meaning to ask you this."
"Hmmm?"
"Just how much your powers increase during night times. Your blessing increases stats by 100% during night times." Aditya also wondered if his undead can receive a blessing from the Goddess. But after working with her for a few hours, Aditya realized that Selene did not like undeads at all. Even if he asks, she won't give her blessing to a mere undead.
Not to mention Selene did not give her blessing until both were stuck in a life and death situation. Maybe at that time, Selene did not trust him enough. But one thing was sure for a God or a Goddess, their blessing was something that is not easily gained. Previously Selene even mentioned that only gave her blessing to a certain few of her followers in the past.
Selene, Aditya, and his first undead walked out of the 20-floor tall building under the darkness and the rainy night. The rain has not stopped. UAE was not made for rain so it was not surprising to see that after a full day of rain, the streets now was covered in rainwater.
Selene lazily flew beside Aditya while looking at the sky. She did not mind the rain that had drenched her body. "During night times, all of my stats have increased by 500%. While during a full moon, that boost I receive will be increased even more."
'500%.!' Aditya was frozen in one place. He nervously gulped realizing how frighteningly powerful this Goddess currently was. Aditya knew that the Goddess was above level 10 and after killing a few thousand zombies, her level should have reached at least 11 or level 12.
'If her current stats are at 22 with the boost she gets, all of her stats already have broken the 100 mark. Meaning that if she wanted, she could have taken care of all the zombies without even needing my assistant.'
"To get a 500% boost!!!! I think it's more like cheating."
"Hehe! What did you expect mortal? We call ourselves Goddesses for a reason. If any mortal could kill us, then all the Gods and the Goddesses would have died a long time ago."
Sigh!
"This world is so far unfair."
Selene rolled her eyes at Aditya. "In my opinion, your existence itself is unfair to other mortals. Do you even realize how ridiculously powerful you're? I can't even begin to imagine what would happen if you with an army of high-level undeads attacked someone."
"Thank you but I still can't compete with a Goddess." Selene once again rolled her eyes. This mortal was dreaming of competing with a Goddess.
'But then again, given his necromancer ability, this mortal might actually overtake me in the future.'
