Chapter 53: You Can't Hide Your Trick From Me

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

He was really innocent!

Quirrell was speechless. With his acting skills and skill, he did not need to rely on such dangerous means to find a way to break through the traps.

However, looking at Snape's angry face, Quirrell knew that he must have had ample evidence to get to him.

But he really didn't do it! Who the hell was trying to murder him?

Quirrell had visions of wizards and witches who were extremely bad friends with him, but who were not at Hogwarts and who were unlikely to have come all this way to frame him.

Perplexed, Quirrell could only blame it on his own bad luck that he had stumbled across a young wizard trying to steal a potion, and had been suspected by Snape for his unusual behaviour.

I'm so hard…

Quirrell wanted to cry, but no tears came out. Despite his frustration, he did not dare to show it. He could only pretend to be weak and speak with fear.

"Severus, I really had nothing to do with the potion being stolen… I swear!"

"Really? Where were you on the afternoon of the third day of school after Christmas? I asked around, but no one had seen you." Snape's eyes narrowed, and his empty gaze met Quirrell's.

Quirrell was speechless. He couldn't possibly say that he had sneaked into the Forbidden Forest that afternoon to hunt unicorns to restore the Dark Lord's power, could he?

"I was in the office all day." Quirrell had no choice but to insist that he had not gone out all day.

"You weren't in your office the other day!" Snape demanded.

"Maybe I went to the bathroom at the last minute…" Quirrell stammered, trying to find an excuse, but before he could finish, he realised that Snape was deliberately blowing him up.

Given his reputation for having hit rock bottom at Hogwarts, there was no way any of the students would come to him…

"You can't fool me with your little tricks!" Snape's mouth split into a smile, and he became even more certain that Quirrell was the one who had stolen the Potions.

Quirrell's face turned red, and he almost cursed out loud…

What kind of trick was this? He had never stolen a potion or even touched it!

All he did was help the Dark Lord revive!

Who had time to steal that potion?

It's not like he has no money. Does he really think he can't buy the materials himself?

However, Quirrell was forced to keep his bitterness to himself… because he could not explain his whereabouts, and could only pretend to be weak… and to look innocent and trembling to gain sympathy, although this would not have done Snape any good…

Just as Snape was about to continue with his interrogation, he became aware that someone was eavesdropping on their conversation, so he quickly warned Quirrell to think about who he was working for before leaving.

Ivan, who was hiding in the shadows, almost laughed out loud. He had not expected that he would screw Quirrell over so badly, just because he had tried to shift the blame.

Harry and the others waited until Snape and Quirrell had left before coming around the corner.

"How is it possible that Quirrell really did steal Snape's potion?" Harry was incredulous.

Although Ivan had mentioned this possibility to Harry earlier, Harry refused to believe it; after all, Professor Quirrell was timid and was known to be a goody-two-shoes. Quirrell would not get angry at the occasional young wizard who tried to mess with his class, or would simply say that Quirrell did not have the ability to manage it.

Why would such a person steal Snape's potion?

However, Harry had overheard Snape's conversation with Quirrell. Quirrell's whereabouts were unknown on the day Snape lost his potion, and he had lied about staying in his office, making him seem suspicious.

"Who cares? Professor Dumbledore will take care of it. Let's go to Hagrid's and see the dragon come out of its shell." Ivan had long since given up on staying there, as the dragon that was about to hatch was the most important thing to him.

"Ivan, I didn't know you liked dragons so much…" Hermione complained, thinking that Ivan was almost more passionate about dragons than Hagrid.

"It's a dragon! It's a top-of-the-line magical creature in the wizarding world!" Ivan explained, leaving the last part of his sentence unsaid.

As long as he obtained the dragon's blood, he would be able to complete the bloodline fusion potion and improve his talent. He would have the ability to protect himself in the wizarding world and would have some confidence when he returned home at the end of term.

Before leaving, Ivan warned Ron not to discuss dragons on the way, in case he was overheard, as he did not want to see Malfoy at Hagrid's house.

They made their way to Hagrid's hut, where he welcomed them with far more enthusiasm than before, and it was clear that he was pleased with the day.

The doors and windows of the hut were sealed, leaving only a few small openings for ventilation. The hot stove beside the bed was constantly emitting steam.

Ivan's eyes were fixed on the table as he entered the room. The dragon egg was lying there with a deep crack in it, which occasionally shook.

Yvonne leaned closer and saw that the crack in the eggshell had suddenly widened considerably. There was a loud noise, and a bald, leathery, triangular head poked out of the crack. Then a skinny, dark body emerged from the broken shell, with skinny, wobbly limbs.

'It's ugly…' Ivan complained, but Hagrid was excited. He thought it was beautiful and couldn't wait to name it.

"Norbert…what do you say we call him Norbert?" Hagrid extended a finger to tease Norbert, but Norbert opened his fanged mouth and tried to bite him, but Hagrid's skin was too thick for him.

"Look how much it likes me," Hagrid said, not caring at all about Norbert's behaviour, which he thought was a sign of closeness.

This frustrated Harry and the others, but given Hagrid's excitement, they didn't say anything.

However, Norbert had his own way of thinking, and after enduring Hagrid's teasing for a while, he became irritated and spat a ball of fire at Hagrid's face, lighting his beard.

"Hey, you naughty boy!" said Hagrid, slapping his beard, which had been lit on fire.

"Clear water…" Ivan waved his wand and summoned a ball of water, which he poured over Hagrid's head and face…
