Chapter 635: Hermione's Memory

The instruction lasted all afternoon, and they were not released until early evening.

On the way to the Great Hall, Harry complained about Ron's inability to listen to reason.

After a morning of fierce bickering, their relationship has gone from being friends to being on the verge of falling out.

Ivan looked exasperated. There was nothing he could do but hope that Ron would come to his senses after a few days.

After a quick dinner, Yvonne excused herself from Harry and took Hermione to the roof of the tower to practise her magic.

As he had expected, it was deserted and quiet, and he did not have to worry about anyone barging in at this hour.

"Is there anything I can do?" Hermione looked nervous, unsure where to put her hands and feet.

"No, you don't have to… just stay where you are, relax, and try not to resist. I'm not very skilled at it yet…" Ivan said soothingly.

This made Hermione even more flustered, and she looked around anxiously for an escape route.

She thought that if Ivan insisted on doing something to her, she would run towards the door!

However, Ivan's position happened to be facing the door, and Hermione was not nearly as strong as Ivan, so after some consideration, she decided that she had little chance of escaping.

Other than that, they could only jump down from the tower by surprise!

However, this place was very high, at least tens of meters off the ground. If she could not accurately grasp the timing of the Slowing Spell, she would definitely die!

Hermione was torn. Should she run or not?

Ivan had no idea what was going through the witch's mind, so he went on explaining.

"The charm I'm going to use on you later is called Legilimency, which will read your current thoughts or past memories…

If you feel any discomfort during the spell-casting, or anything you don't want me to see, resist, and I will stop immediately!"

As she was about to perform magic, Ivan stopped being secretive and told her what had happened.

"Memory?" Hermione's expression was odd as she realised what Ivan had meant by "privacy".

"What is it?" Yvonne asked, surprised by Hermione's reaction.

"It's nothing…" The little witch hurriedly shook her head. When she saw that Ivan did not seem to notice her thoughts, she secretly heaved a sigh of relief.

However, when she thought of the spell Ivan was about to cast, Hermione's face fell, and she couldn't help asking, "What do you do with this memory-reading magic?"

"Do you remember yesterday's speculation? I was thinking the same thing you were. I thought the mystery man might have sneaked in and was planning something with us, like Chino did!" Yvonne explained half-heartedly.

"So you want to learn Legilimency so you can tell who's been sent by You-Know-Who?" Hermione asked, immediately understanding Ivan's purpose and her initial desire to refuse him.

"Yes, that's right!" Yvonne said with a laugh, then gently lifted her wand, her eyes meeting Hermione's. "Ready?"

Hermione took a deep breath and nodded.

She had read about Legilimency in a book and thought that she would be better off thinking about her childhood later.

"Then I'm coming!" Ivan whispered, pointing his wand at Hermione. "Legilimency ~"

Yvonne's disembodied voice seemed to have a magical effect on Hermione's mind, causing her to become dazed. Her eyes met Yvonne's, and memories came flooding back.

At the same time, Ivan felt as if his thoughts had been sucked into the little witch's body, and fragmented memories floated before his eyes.

The first thing they saw was a small, cosy room with pink curtains and beds, stuffed dolls and toys.

The one who caught Ivan's attention the most was Hermione, who was lying on the bed with a blanket over her, or Hermione as a child.

She appeared to be around eight or nine years old, with intelligent brown eyes, and was listening to Mrs Granger reading a Muggle fairy tale book.

By the time Madam Granger mentioned the princess and was imprisoned by her step-mother, Hermione's face was full of worry and fear. She clutched the corners of her blanket tightly and tried to curl up under it.

Ivan couldn't help but laugh out loud at Hermione's cute reaction.

However, as an onlooker, Ivan acted as if he did not exist, and Madam Granger continued to tell the story softly.

In the end, a kind-hearted old witch cast a spell to rescue the princess from the Dark House, and the escaped princess met the prince of her neighbouring country.

"Mom…is there really magic in this world?" Hermione asked, both curious and envious.

Madam Granger smiled at the general attempt at "deceiving" Hermione. There was magic in the world, and everyone was a wizard.

Perhaps believing him, little Hermione imitated the wizard in the story and began chanting incantations, looking very serious.

Mrs Granger covered her mouth and laughed.

However, as soon as Hermione finished her incantation, the plush toys, teapots, and other objects that she was pointing at suddenly flew up into the air and crashed uncontrollably into the ceiling.

One of them nearly hit Mrs Granger on the head.

Hermione was stunned, as was Mrs Granger, who was wide-eyed and frightened, but she immediately hugged Hermione and tried to calm her down.

"Is this a minor wizard's magical outburst?" Yvonne murmured to herself. No wonder Hermione always remembered it. It was impressive.

This memory ended abruptly, and all that followed were very brief fragments of memories of events in life that made Hermione very happy or very sad.

Yvonne relived these memories with Hermione, sharing her joy and sorrow, which was a strange feeling, as if she were watching Hermione grow up, experiencing the smallest of her emotions.

It was only when she was eleven years old that Hermione received a notice from Hogwarts…

Ivan perked up, intrigued. He understood that Hermione would soon meet him, and was curious to see himself in a different light…
