Chapter 15: One Round
I am currently nervously wrangling my fingers into a weird knot. I don't know what to expect after rumbling nonsense like I just did, but fortunately just like always, Arian starts laughing, but he does not look mad. He stands up and dusts off some dirt from his pants.. I also get up to face him. He really is different today. Is this how he normally is or is this another one of his stunts?.."It is okay. You are very direct, I see why our teachers would have had a problem with you. This is good, we can be friends." He says while taking a pink head band from his pocket and ties his hair into a perfectly stylish messy bun. He looks really ..
"What the fuck Gail?..Did you guys really run or you took a short cut..Are you really one fucking undercover bitch ass ninja or some shit!?" Ray says while falling into our conversation like an unexpected avalanche. He is Fuming. Immediately Arian stands in front of me, He puts both his hands in his pockets and stands protectively shielding me from him. His happy self from earlier has vanished. If Ray does not shut up, he will get killed. He can disrespect me, but assuming that Arian cheated is a whole new level of fuckary I don't want to see the result of.
Other wolves start to arrive but pause to look at us, Corey hurriedly comes over to my side standing to face Ray with one hand outstretched to try to show him to calm down." Our route was the short one Ray and you know it, there is no other track except for the long one around the hill" Corey says ,his voice sounding a bit annoyed. I guess they all know Ray and I are not on good terms, or Ray just normally acts like a brat to everyone. I don't want Ray to think that I fear him, that I need Corey and Arian to protect me..I can carry my own baggage....Arian knows I can. I think he is just mad that Ray insulted him. Arian is not the type to take bullshit..so before anything serious can happen..I start laughing.(learnt from the best)
Everyone looks at me with a confused face. Ray looses his anger instantly replacing it with annoyance and Arian removes his hands from his pockets..his knuckles look white...just as I suspected. He normally puts his hands in his pockets around strangers to avoid playing with them or in an irritating situation to avoid strangling his target. I almost became one of his victims during our first meetings.
" Are you jelly little brother?.. if you want a race tell me. I will race you, right here, right now...or you don't want to ..I thought you said I cheated..want to test your theory..?" I say while slowly approaching Ray with a mischievous grin." We just came from a long run, I can't work myself too much before gym.." Ray answers back. No one says anything, I look at Arian for a go ahead and he nods at me." I don't know fellas, all I hear is a grown ass wolf acting like a chicken..The race will not even last more than 3 minutes..one round around the field and thats it." I say once again putting on a sly smirk.
" Okay whatever"..Ray eventually relents.
Corey takes us over to the starting point, we are set and Arian sounds the gun.Ray and I are off. I don't mean to brag, but by the time I reached the Finishing point, Ray was half way there. The bigger they are, the slower they are...with overheating and all.
"Fuck you!"..Ray says immediately after reaching where I, Arian , Corey and a few others were standing." I am not one for incest *brother* plus why now? I thought I was not your type?" I ask jokingly. Ray is riled and fed up, he launches himself at me, but before he could reach me Arian had him on a choke hold , locking him from the back with his arms pressing against his throat... Ray taps his arms, surrendering.
"TAKE THAT BRAT!"..Terra comments
"Go take a five minute break and calm down. Gail proved you wrong, take it like a fuckin wolf Blanco!..and all of you go back and resume training!..No more shitty business..You hear me!?..This is not a fucking high school drama!." Arian hisses, his voice thundering throughout the field. "Omega! you follow me." He commands still in his military voice before leaving the now petrified crowd, I hesitantly follow him.Arian takes me back to the corridor just outside the training room. I think I might be in trouble and he will scold me for urging on Ray..hope he does not try to kill me..
"IT WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME..GUY IS ALWAYS TRYING TO GET YOU KILLED!" Terra comments ,but I ignore him...back to square one.
Immediately after closing the door from prying ears, He begins to talk and to say I expected his next words would be a lie the Moon Goddess will punish me for.
"Oh my Goddess!..you were awesome!" He says in an elated voice....
"What!?"..
