Chapter 2: 02.

A young lady stood in the field with a bow and several arrows beside her as she tried to perfect her skills in archery. She was tall and slender and coupled with that, she had a nice and attractive figure. She was the daughter of the alpha, Sylvia.

'Pah.' Bull's eye...

"The Alpha is dead!!" A young lady about her age burst into the field. She was Raven, Sylvia's servant. She rushed towards Sylvia seeming especially anxious.

What?

Sylvia was stunned for a moment and the things in her hand fell. She flew out of the room and headed straight toward her father's room.

Lying on the bed was Alpha Williams; her father.

"Father!" She rushed to his side and shook him, gently at first. Seeing he wasn't responding to her touch, she shook him with much vigor.

"What happened..?" She turned to look at Raven.

Raven stood there quietly. She was crying profusely but didn't dare to make any noise as she was afraid Sylvia would burst out crying too.

Since the news of his illness was announced two days before, they all knew he wasn't going to last longer. But, they didn't expect him to die so soon.

Raven didn't respond but turned her gaze towards the floor.

Sylvia's figure shook and tears streamed down her face. She already lost her mother. He was the only one she had left.

How could he do this to her?

Raven turned and led her out of the room. She followed suit as tears cascaded down her cheeks.

Sylvia's mind was a mess. When she was told two days back that he had contracted the plague, he had convinced her. He promised he would be fine.

So, how dare he die?

How dare he die when he knew he was the only one she had?

What was she to do now? Who was going to lead the Stone Moon Pack? She was only twenty for goddess' sake.

She had no experience whatsoever. How was she to lead a whole pack? Worse still, a plague was killing members of the pack.

It was an unusual plague; With no cure... Sucking the life out of the people slowly...

'Goddess, grant me strength....' She prayed silently.

She had to be strong. Her father would never be happy to see her so down. He raised a strong woman. And, that was what she was.

But, as she stared at the body on the bed, another set of hot tears flowed down her face.

But, they also had to deal with his dead body soon.

According to the pack's customs, it was disrespectful to leave the body of a royal in the presence of commoners. The burial had to be done quickly.

So, she gave orders to one of her father's betas. "Prepare for the burial. Also, notify all the elders."

"Got it, Luna..." He bowed and left.

Luna?

Oh, how could she forget?

The Alpha and Luna were dead... She was naturally the new Luna of the Stone Moon Pack.

===============

Two months later...

Luna Sylvia sat on her throne with a stern expression on her face.

"No improvement?" She asked the elder in front of her. He was the pack doctor.

"None at all Luna. The death rate keeps increasing." He bowed respectfully.

Sylvia massaged her temples tiredly. What was this? Same plague?

After the death of her father, Sylvia became the Luna of the pack. With a firm hand, she led the Stone Moon pack.

The plague had stopped spreading and there hadn't been any more incidences of its infection. It was all fine, going smoothly...

Until...

Recently, when the same plague that killed her father began killing members of her pack. Alarmed, Sylvia tried finding a solution...

She tried every means possible. She also consulted many seers.

Their response was the same. There was no cure for the plague.

Sylvia was torn. What was she to do? Seek help from other packs?

But which pack?

Oh yes. The Peak Ocean Pack...

But could she?

When the Alpha was known to be ruthless? Nolan...

Would he even help?

No, she would ask for help from another pack. There wasn't any other option left. If she didn't do anything, her life was also bound to be taken anytime soon.

"Send words to other packs. See if anyone has the solution to this disastrous plague."

Sylvia was already weakened by the recent happenings... Her people were dying. It was exceptionally disturbing to see families torn due to this plague.

The guards bowed and left the throne room to execute her orders. Sylvia stared at their departing figures and sighed. She was such a pathetic Luna. She did nothing and watched her father die.

Now, she couldn't do anything to help her pack. Wasn't she a pathetic Luna?

Hah.

THE PEAK OCEAN PACK

The Alpha's Chambers...

Nolan sat on his bed with a hardened expression on his face. Had he gone soft?

How dare that lowly Alpha dares to sabotage him? He was annoyed when he thought about his fight with the alpha earlier.

How could he let it go? He had never and would never be a kind person.

A maid came into the chambers at that moment...

"Dinner is served, My Lord." She announced.

But unfortunately, Nolan was in a horrible mood. He barked at her. "Get out!!!"

The maid scampered away in fright. As she ran, she wondered what she said wrong. She wasn't surprised though. The alpha had always been a temperamental man.

Everyone in the pack was always on their tippy toes with worry that they would trigger his anger and get roasted by it.

Growling lowly, Nolan stood up and wore his robe. He would deal with the matter later.

As he clambered down the stairs, he was met with the anxious eyes of other members of the pack.

Five times out of six, he caught them peeking at him. One of them even went as far as spilling water on herself out of nervousness and anxiety.

What was wrong with them?

"What is wrong with all of you?!" He asked, yelling for the nth time that day. He was acting crappy and feeling angry too.

Frightened at his sudden outburst, they lifted their heads. They didn't respond but looked at each other waiting for one person to speak.

" I believe you guys wouldn't want me to repeat myself." By this time he was already at the table. He sat at the head of the table he slammed his hand on the table impatiently.

They remained tongue-tied. How were they to tell him the reason why they sat like that was that they were afraid he would transfer aggression on them?

"It's nothing, Alpha Nolan." Selena mustered courage and replied. She was the closest to him of all the people present.

"Nothing?" He repeated as he stared at their expression one after the other. They shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

Selena cleared her throat.

"Yes, nothing." She replied with a clearer voice.

The Peak Ocean Pack was made up of twenty-four main members. They were headed by their cold Alpha Nolan.

Whenever the Alpha was in a foul mood like today, they knew better than to further anger him. He would take it out on that person.

Alpha Nolan was known to be a ruthless leader. Cold and without a partner. However, he satisfied his urges with Selena. She was the most beautiful werewolf in the pack. She was a voluptuous and seductive wolf...

Due to her relationship with the Alpha, she always saw herself as Luna of the pack.

However, like other members of the pack, she was also afraid of him.

Alpha Nolan stopped eating after a while. He stood up.

"Going out for a race." He announced and left.

The otter members stared at themselves; when did the Alpha ever inform them of his whereabouts?

Why was he suddenly being so nice? It was scary, alright?
