Chapter 20: Where is Adriana?

"I sentenced you to death?!"

Algis was shocked, couldn't believe what he heard. He had heard that people on the verge of death would see his regret. However, they hadn't even met then, so there was no way Cyril had any regrets about him. Then the death seen because of people who have never met is a prophecy.

"Do you know why you were sentenced to death?"

The man on his left was silent for a moment and then slowly shook his head. "Unfortunately I don't know! When I faced the death you gave me I woke up again in a room surrounded by strangers," replied Cyril. "They know me, but I don't remember who they are. Then when the Captain pressed me, a little memory of just before death appeared."

Algis couldn't think of anything. He tugged at the reins, leaving Cyril behind. Borneo followed him immediately and was only a few feet away from him by horse.

"Your Majesty, are you all right?" shouted Borneo from behind.

Algis didn't answer quickly. He was fixated on the silhouettes of the houses seen from a distance. Freifau is in sight now. A few of the residents walking down the small precinct's entrance stopped, pulled over, and stared curiously at the people on horses who seemed to be in a hurry.

"I'm fine, Borneo!" said Algis when he knew that Borneo was still waiting for an answer.

"I will warn him, Your Majesty!"

"Not!" ban Algis. They have entered the residential area and will soon begin to enter Adriana's residence. "If I had the same dream it seems like I'd act like Cyril too!"

There is only one solution. He just had to prove to Cyril that what the young man feared would not happen. For now, he just had to find Adriana, making sure that his worries for her were just too much. That whatever he read in the shabby message was just a joke by Adriana to get Algis to the Freifau residence in the south.

They arrived at the gate sooner than calculated. The gatekeepers looked surprised by the arrival of a group of uniformed cavalry that they did not recognize. The guards' bodies trembled in fear, but they still prevented the troops Algis had brought from entering.

"You don't know who's coming? He is His Highness the Crown Prince, Algis!" Borneo was angry when the gate did not open.

The guards looked at each other and had no other choice but to open the gate.

The horses of the Algis army galloped in. The maids rushed out to greet them. A woman in luxurious clothes was among them. She squinted at the people on the horses. Occasionally turning his face to the waiter who was talking to him while looking down.

"For guests to come to this residence you guys are so disrespectful!" The woman hugged herself as she spoke. Staring lightly at the people who came.

"Tell the Count that the Crown Prince is coming to pick up Princess Adriana!"

Algis puffed out his chest, looking displeased. The woman couldn't recognize him at all.

"Crown Prince?" The woman asked in disbelief.

Her eyes narrowed again, looking for the crown prince who was mentioned. The woman's eyes should be on Algis. He was not wearing his oversized clothes, but indeed the emblem used on his chest was visible.

"Adriana isn't here!" cried the woman loudly.

How could Algis believe that? Adriana did text him after the girl left, but during his time with her, Adriana never lied. Algis got off his horse.

"Show me where Adriana is!" commanded with authority.

A frown appeared on the woman's forehead once again.

Algis recognized the woman as Adriana's stepmother. His lover had told Alagis before, about his residence, and the people who were there. Even though Adriana said nothing bad, Algis knew that the treatment of illegitimate children was not good.

"Crown Prince?" The woman scoffed.

Fearish who came down and was on Algis's left drew his sword, threatening. "Watch your words, madam!" He shouted angrily.

Fear was immediately evident in the woman's eyes now. Her body trembled and the maids around her screamed in stifled cries.

"Show me where Adriana is now!" Algis ordered once again.

"Please forgive me, Your Majesty! This lowly me does not recognize you. Let me replace Madam to escort you!" One in maid clothes, older than the others finally came forward. "Please take, Madam to her room!"

Algis turned to Fearish and the knight captain quickly pulled the sword away from the unknown madam's neck. He looked at the lady who came into the house with a lead.

"Please Your Highness, this way!"

Algis followed him without much question. Some of the knights that were brought were directed elsewhere.

"Cyril! You come with me!"

He stopped the knight who confessed to him halfway while joining the others in another room in the Freifau residence.

Cyril looked displeased with the orders he heard. Still openly opposed, but still joining Algis in the same room.

"Adriana isn't here, is she?"

Algis turned to Cyril. It was the old maid who escorted them to the parlor as well.

"What do you mean, sir, I don't understand."

Cyril chuckled. "Adriana is not here. My sentences are simple enough for a child to understand. But, the maid must be here. Where's the maid?"

The old maid's face was pale. His gaze shifted to Algis, Cyril as well as the other knights.

Then suddenly he jumped and ran. Of course, he didn't succeed because the knight who accompanied Algis into the living room immediately caught him.

"Where's Adriana's maid?" asked Cyril as he crouched down in front of the old woman.

The old servant began to cry and beg for mercy. Says he doesn't know anything at all. But according to Algis, this captured maid knows quite a lot.

"Thanks for helping again, Cyril." Algis patted Cyril on the shoulder. The young knight he was patting immediately stood up, giving Cyril his previous seat. "Where is the maid who is always with Princess Adriana?" Algis stared at the old maid without blinking.

"He's in the warehouse! Master told us to put him in there!"

"Show me the place!" Algis gave the order and turned to Fearish who had been on alert.

The old maid's body was pulled and forced to tell the warehouse where Adriana's maid was. They quickly disappeared at the door, while the knight who had been in another room had joined in the same room as Algis. They looked alert in case an enemy ambushed Algis.

"Do you have an explanation as to why you knew Adriana wasn't around, Cyril?"

Borneo stood behind Algis, equally putting pressure on Cyril, to tell the truth. However, the pressure had no effect on Cyril.
