Chapter 42: Alice and Ten Children
Tyler knew he had left in a rush. That's because he had to do this. The sooner he gets his arm fixed, the faster he can start working on that project. He won't let Dan suffer because of him.
He was the one who suggested Dan accept it after all. When he reached the gate, he saw a girl standing at the gate. When he saw her, his eyes trembled a little.
The girl was none other than Alice. She just stood there with desolated eyes, staring at him. When Tyler reached in front of her, he spoke.
"What's wrong?"
Although it was good that he initiated the conversation, Alice could feel coldness in his tone. She immediately understood his meaning. After all, it wasn't her fault that his mother was captured.
But, it was somehow their fault as well. After all, the contract was about containing the Sulen Family so that they won't make a move. So, to some extent, letting them make a move on his family was partially their fault.
"Is she alright?" Alice asked with a low tone.
"Yes! If you don't have anything important, I should leave. I am in hurry." Tyler walked forward as he spoke. But just when he passed next to her, Alice caught his left hand.
Tyler stopped and turned around.
"Sorry, I'm really sorry. I should've asked someone to guard your family. I didn't think they would make a move directly to your family." Alice apologized. She even bowed to him.
"No, it's okay. In the contract, you were supposed to protect Dan Shop from Sulen. So, it doesn't matter." Tyler shook his head and pulled his arm, turning around.
"Tyler, I am really sorry. I know you wanted us to contain the Sulen Family so that they won't lead any attack but we couldn't keep every member in check." Alice shouted as she tried to hold his hand.
When she moved toward his right side, her hand touched nothing but clothes and slide down. She froze for a moment and tried to touch it again.
Tyler pulled his hand but she insisted. She threw his robe up and saw an emptiness in his right hand.
"Oh my god!" Alice covered her mouth with her hand and her eyes widened.
Tyler quickly pulled down the robe since there were many people walking around. He turned around but Alice instantly came in front of her.
"Why? Why did they take your hand?" Alice shuttered as she asked.
"Isn't that obvious? They knew that I will be representing you in the upcoming tournament and wanted to cripple me. And, this way they can also prevent Dan Shop from completing the task. Two birds with a single stone." Tyler clenched his left hand and spoke.
There was a trace of anger in his eyes but he was still keeping his expression calm.
"Sorry! I'm sorry. Please, forgive me!" Alice almost cried as she clenched her fists and lowered her head.
"You did nothing wrong. This happened because of my decision. I'm in hurry. So, I should leave." Tyler slowly calmed his emotions and patted her shoulder as he ran away.
Alice didn't stop him. At this moment, she couldn't stop him at all. After all, she was blaming herself. If she had only asked a single guard to stay at his home, he would've been safe.
She took a deep breath as her eyes turned scary red. She walked away. She walked until she reached a small building. It was on the eleventh street, a bit outside the city.
There were only a few houses here. And, this house belonged to her. Harry was silently following her in the shadows. As she walked inside the gate, she saw several children at the age of twelve playing around.
"Sister Alice!"
"It's sister Alice."
"Sister Alice!"
Those children saw her and ran toward her with excited expressions. All of them seemed extremely excited as they gathered around her. Soon, more and more children came out of the house.
There were around ten children.
"How is everyone? Are you having fun?" Alice squeezed out a smile and asked.
"We are playing but it is not fun. Sister, you said you will give us a task soon." A young boy raised his hand and pouted. He had a small and thin boy wearing a white shirt.
"Yeah sister, playing is not fun." Another boy pouted. They were a bit similar. Not just them, everyone seemed a bit similar. The only difference was their clothes, hair, eye colors, and gender.
Black, Green, Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, White, Purple, Silver, and Golden.
"Silver, Golden, you two aren't having fun because you always mess up the game. Sister Alice, it's their fault that they don't know how to play." A little girl with blue eyes spoke. Unlike boys, girls were wearing vintage dresses.
"We are not bad. We just don't want to use our abilities." Golden shouted with his face turned red.
"Nope, you guys are too scared of using your powers." Another girl with Green eyes spoke.
"Alright! Alright, everyone there is no need to quarrel." Alice patted their heads and chuckled.
"Let's go inside." Alice said as everyone followed her.
There was not a single adult to take care of them. And, it wasn't needed. Two years ago, she saved them from an experiment. She almost lost her own life because she was also captured during that experiment.
She was taken to the experimentation lab of the Ditto Family where they empower children with different experiments, giving them higher evolved minds and different unique abilities.
She also gained the ability and because of that, she didn't awaken her own ability at first. She was fourteen when she got the ability, she spent one year in that facility and then spend two more years properly controlling her ability.
And, her ability was none other than Poison.
She was able to escape with these children because she poisoned the entire facility. She erased her own information from their databook, alongside these children, and ran away.
That's why even though she was taken to Ditto Family, she was able to live with her parents.
"Sister, sister, is there anything fun we can do?" Golden asked.
"Yes, sister! Please!" Silver showed her his teary face and asked.
"Of course, there is." Alice smiled as she replied. Then, her eyes turned serious.
"I have an important task for all of you."
Saying so, she took out ten pictures from her spatial ring and passed them.
"I want you to kill ten of these. Each one of you gets one. Originally, I was planning on revealing you when we finally go against Ditto Family, but now this is something important and only you can do it."
