Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Secret meeting
"Good morning Mr Verec." replied the class
"Today we will be continuing where we left off in the basic theory of spellcasting."
As Mr Verec spoke, the class pulled out their notebooks.
Oswald followed suit and took out his own notebook.
As Oswald looked at the slightly worn-down book, he was overwhelmed by a surge of emotion.
Although he hadn't personally been the one to personally cripple his mental space. The countless memories of the hours and emotions that the previous Oswald spent studying magic surged through his mind more vividly than any movie imaginable.
To Oswald, the notebook represented a future he could have had. The future of noble and successful life that was now flung far away from him.
His classmates that used to look up to him and ask him for advice would eventually go far beyond him.
Even that waste, Ernest, would eventually surpass him and at that time what would happen to his family?
The more Oswald thought about it the more he started to lose hope.
He was starting to understand how the previous Oswald had fallen into a complete depression.
This world had a vicious suppression of class and status that would eventually lead to a suppression in strength.
Oswald was so close to breaking free from this class restriction and soaring to new heights and at the last moment, it had all come crashing down.
If someone lost something they'd never even seen before, they wouldn't feel too bad. But if someone not only lost something that was not only almost within their grasp but also destroyed by their own hands. The effect could be soul crushing.
As Oswald was in his own thoughts, he suddenly heard something
"It seems like some of you have forgotten the basic theory for the fire arrow spell. Oswald, can you please explain for the rest of them again."
As soon as Mr Verec asked the question, he suddenly froze.
Everyone was aware of Oswald's situation, including the teachers. When Mr Verec asked this question, it was only because Oswald had always been one of the more pleasant students in his memory that knew the answer to almost any question he asked, so he instinctively called Oswald's name like he normally would. It was a simple slip up with no malicious intentions.
Hearing his name, Oswald slowly stood up, causing the sound of muttering to break out around him.
Oswald ignored these sounds as he calmly spoke.
"The basic spell model for fire arrow consists of exactly 27 spell nodes, with each node being joined by intricate cross linkages to form a roughly circular shape. To Cast a spell of fire arrow, the caster will need to form the complete spell model in their mental space whilst also reciting a 30 syllable chant in combination with four subsequent hand gestures. The casting time needs to be perfected so that the completion of the mental spell model, the magic chant, and the hand gestures are completed at the same time for a successful cast."
"Cough! That was an excellent explanation Oswald, you may sit down." Said Mr Verec
As Oswald sat down, he didn't pay any attention to the light murmuring around him and just stared out the window, completely lost in his thoughts.

"Well, that will be the end of today's lecture. If you have any questions, please save them for the next lesson as I'm in a hurry to make a deadline right now. I'll surely answer them next time. Class dismissed."
After dismissing the class, Mr Verec didn't dawdle any longer than he needed to and, after quickly packing up his teaching materials, briskly walked out of the classroom.
After Mr Verec left, Oswald stood up preparing to leave when he suddenly sensed someone approaching him.
"So Oswald, now that you're back, how about we go out and have some fun? It's been forever since we went out together."
Hearing this, Oswald just shook his head.
"Sorry to disappoint Jude, but I've got to go to the library to look up something important."
Hearing this, Jude just shook his head.
"Back to your bookworm ways so soon. You need to get out more. Life isn't just about theories and books."
Hearing this, Oswald just halfheartedly replied,
"Sure, sure. Once I finish looking up what I need to we can go to as many parties and meet as many ladies as you want. When that time comes Maybe you can even teach me a few tricks"
After saying goodbye to Jude, Oswald made his way out of the classroom and towards the library, but before he left, there was still something he had to do

In a secluded corner of the Raudorth academy, a handsome blonde haired man could be seen idly fiddling with his pocket watch.
A few seconds later, another figure could be seen coming around the corner.
She had long, light blue hair that fell past her shoulders and a terrifyingly cold expression on her beautiful face.
But Oswald didn't get to admire the beautiful face for long.
"Why did you call me here? I told you, things are over between us."
Hearing such a cold voice, a frown appeared on Oswald's face as he replied.
"I already know that. I'm not calling you here for a different reason."
"What is it then?" asked Isabella
"The day things ended between us, I went drinking heavily and my memory of the last few weeks is a bit foggy. I'm just asking if you can remember anything I had been looking for before then."
As Isabella heard this, a doubtful expression appeared on her face.
"Please Isabella, it's important."
After hearing Oswald's plea, Isabella fell into serious thought for a few seconds before she replied. With the mental power of a Mage apprentice, it wasn't too hard to remember the conversations from a week ago.
"If I can remember correctly, you told me about a book on what priests do in order to gain the favour of their gods…"
