Chapter 2: Blood night II

Alice's hands started shaking as she stared down at the horrific seance, water drained from her face as if she has aged several decades.

The man took a step toward her, blood dripping from his hand. "Go report that we found her, I will bring her with me!" His voice was harsh and deep, in her ears, he resembled groaning more than speech.

Another man called from behind her, "I will leave it for you then, I bet that he will be overjoyed!" before rushing away into the east.

"Now, get ready...we will depart immediately!"

Alice wasn't able to understand what he was saying, her mind was still stuck processing what happened and she didn't care about what he said.

thump thump! thump thump! She could feel her heart beating loudly, a strange sense of heat engulfed her body as her vision focused on the man walking toward her.

'Alice...' Her mother's voice rang in her head, setting her in motion.

In an instant she kicked the table that was beside her toward the man, the table was made of wood and quite light so it flew right at the man's face. CRACK! The table shattered in half, he cut it with something red.

The next he saw in front of him was Alice rushing in with a fork she picked up from the ground. She swung directly for the eye.

The man took a single step back evading her strike and then kicking her in the guts and sending her flying from the door. Alice rolled outside vomiting what was left in her stomach with blood. Her vision started to blur.

"Why are you attacking me? Such strong blood, it must be you!" The man walked toward her again. He grabbed her from the hair and lifted her. "Varm..." He stopped mid-sentence as she stabbed his neck with the fork. His eyes looked down at her hand for a moment.

BLOP! BLOP! The fork started getting pushed outside his wound, his blood solidified and forced it out. His solidified blood turned into what resembled a claw and snatched the fork from her hand and threw it away.

Alice tried to take his hand from her hair, his grip was stronger than her arms could muster. "Let go of me, you bastard!" She cried.

"I will let you go if you behaved, why did you attack me?" He said, for some reason seemed to calm a bit when she started talking to him.

"You killed them!" She started crying... He gave her a look of confusion before opening his mouth.

"Were they important for your plans? If that is the case then I apologize. We will get you another two right away." He then let her down with a concerned look, "I know I have gone over my limit by killing humans around you, but please understand, it's an emergency." He said walking away.

Alice wiped her tears, the rope she bought at the store was still in her hand.

"Now we need to hurry and..." He suddenly felt a rope triangle his neck, Alice was riding his back while clenching it tightly. "GaAW" He couldn't speak, he scratched at the rope with his finger.

A red blade protruded from his elbow and he jammed it into Alice's side in an attempt to force her to let go.

Alice felt a sharp pain in her side, she felt like vomiting but nothing came out, her stomach was empty.

Suddenly, the red blade started to shrink as it got sucked into her body. The man seemed to start struggling harder as he started bashing her on the wall.

"I have nothing else to lose, we're both dying here!" She growled in his ear. After struggling for a while, the man finally met his end.

Alice fell on her face struggling to breathe, that feeling of discomfort was refusing to leave her. She could feel her stomach turn and twist. As she regained a bit of her composure, she lifted her shirt to check the wound on her side, to her surprise, there was nothing and her twisting stomach has started to settle down.

Twitch! She noticed the man's finger twitch a bit, fearing that he was still alive. She rushed toward the wood-cutting block and grabbed the axe. With a single strong swing as she did always when cutting firewood. she made sure he will never stand again.

After confirming that he was dead, she walked back inside the house..."The other one went to the east..." She mumbled looking at what was left of her family.

Unable to contain the emotion in her heart, she broke up crying for several minutes before she started feeling her heart get colder and colder.

After calming down a bit, she brought a shovel to bury them, non of the villages would believe what happened here. In the best case, she might be held responsible for everything and get killed.

"Sorry, I can't get you a proper funeral..." She cried again at their graves. After that, she grabbed the man's corpse and tossed it down the hill where wild hogs used to appear. She looked at him rolling with a faint smile, unknown to her that her brown eyes have already turned red.

The night have almost reached its end so she hurried toward the stock room and grabbed some of the rations there like hard bread and dried meat. Then went inside the house to grab a backpack and a leather belt that belonged to her father.

She tied the rope and the axe to her waist. She then dropped a cape over her head and filled the bag with rations and water. Right outside her house, she checked her footstep around.

"We never bought a new shoe in over a year, it's clear where you two came from..."Smiled. There were two different foot marks, one belong to the man she just killed and one belonged to another one.

'He went to the east, I better hurry before the villagers come to check what happened.' Alice picked herself up and started following the trail, her goal was simple, killing the second man that was there even if it was the last thing she does in her life.

...

The next morning, the villagers started getting anxious that Alice didn't show up with the milk as usual so they headed uphill to her house. The ones who came were Jack and his father.

As soon as they got to the gate, Jack noticed the blood in front of the house and rushed to check it. "Father! there is blood here, something bad must have happened!" He screamed.

"Calm down, probably one of the cows got sick and they had to do slaughter it, there is no way..." He stopped mid-sentence when he noticed the graves. His face turned pale.

Jack opened the door to check and he screamed when he saw the amount of blood splattered inside.

After inspecting the house, they rushed back to the village to inform the authority about what happened to the Chlorophyllae family.

After several days, jack went to the west to join the investigation department of the military, his goal to find what happened to Alice.
