Chapter 2: Make a wish on the blue star

Thunder rolls over the misty mountains. Thick raindrops escape from the black sky. A cold wind travels through the empty streets. All the blends are shut and the doors are locked. For a moment the town looked abandoned. The only light is coming from the castle... Home of the Evil Queen.

The beautifully decorated windows show the warm light of candles in the tower room. A helpless scream echoes through the dark cold corridors. Guards looked surprised, ready to storm inside her chamber, but the mirror man told them to stay put. No matter what they hear, what they think ... Stay in position.

"Regina bores her eyes into the gray eyes of her father. Old and wise. "Daddy" she puffs. "Ssh my child, it will be all over soon. Trust me. Not long anymore." Tears streamed from Regina's jaws. The pain, the horrid pain. The rest of her body just got numb. Numb except for about 5 square inches, where some demon (male, surely) was hitting her from the inside with a hammer. She wanted to die, and she was yelling that fact repeatedly. She felt like no one was listening. She was crying again. Furthermore, she couldn't keep her heart rate down. "Breath baby, breath" her father whispered. Concerned about her heart rate, "Just knock me out" she cried. She was joking, but the joke was that she said it out loud. She had never asked for anything more sincere. It was unjust. It was traumatic. My stupid body, she thought. My awful gender. The limitations of sex. Of humanity. "I don't deserve this" she whimpers. Her daddy holds her head supporting her and looks at the nurse, who sits down between Regina her open legs. "Is it almost over" he whispers. The nurse shook her head. She scrunched up her entire being and felt a little glimmer of hope. Then fear. Followed by hope. And once more, pain pain pain. Tired, she tries to pin her thoughts on her baby. It felt so much about her, her body, her pain. It was still so abstract. She never saw its face or heard it cry. A large part of her didn't believe she'd ever see it. Certainly not alive. She continually reminded herself, near the end of pregnancy, that even if she died, she would still get to meet it. It was still a corporeal reality. But she couldn't think that way. It was not all a dream. It could not be taken from her. Despite the truth of this, it remained unfathomable, its existence a mere idea, a source of anxiety. The potential for heartbreak. "Regina, this is it" the nurse suddenly shouted enthusiastically. "Come on your majesty. Give me a big push, and it is all over." "Daddy, I can't" she cried. "I believe in your child" he answered proudly. And just like that, with his words, Regina found her strength again. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. She couldn't hear the loud screams escaping between her lips. All she could hear was the silence... And then... A sound everyone was waiting for. The sound of a fresh-born crying baby. "Regina, it is a girl" shouts the nurse happily. Too tired to answer Regina, just grins. Listening to the crying baby. Tears streamed over her face, covered in sweat. "Daddy" she sighs. "Oh, my baby" the old man answers happily and kisses her forehead. "Oh," Regina whispers and holds her daughter, wrapped in a thick cloth. Bright blue eyes stare right into hers. "My little girl, My Moira" Regina whispers. "Rest my child," her father says, and kisses her forehead once again before he leaves.

It doesn't take long before Regina and Moira are all alone in her room. Regina, exhausted and still struggling with the remaining pain, strokes her sleeping daughter's face. Her head is covered with dark hair. "Oh, Moira" she whispers, and looks at the bright star shining through her open window. "You have no idea... how much I want this. I want all of this. But I'm begging you... Please understand... I have to give you your best chance. And that..." Tears escaped her eyes once more. "That best shot is not with me," she says and cries out loud. "I wish it was. But it is not. I am the evil Queen. And an evil Queen has only enemies. I wish that it was different... I wish that I was born somewhere else... Maybe we could be together then. Please, Moira, please... Forgive me. I do not believe I will be able to forgive myself. But I hope you can forgive me. I just want what is best for you." With heavy breaths, she looked at the stars once again. She takes a deep breath and whispers; "I wish... I wish..."

She closes her eyes for a moment and kisses her daughter's forehead. "You're majesty. I hear your wish" a gentle voice speaks. Regina opens her eyes and looks at the blue fairy who appeared in her bedroom. "Please... I wish..." "I hear you" she answers softly. "I respect your choice, I do believe it is the best... For the child. But I do not believe it is the best for you. Are you certain? There is no going back." Regina throws her head in the air and cries out loud. "No, I do not want this... I want to be... with Moira. But I cannot. I cannot give her the future she deserves. Not yet." The blue fairy nods. "I promise that she will be safe. I know a great family for her. The woman cannot conceive herself and I promise that this child will be loved." "I don't doubt that", Regina sniffs. She gives Moira one last kiss on her forehead, whispers; "Goodbye Moira" and hands the sleeping infant to the blue fairy.

Loudly crying, she breaks down while the blue fairy disappears with her child in the night.

Now this was a chapter I cried with myself. If you want to have a family but you know the best for the family is to give them their best chance without you... That's pain. And Regina and pain... seems like she is a magnet or something for it.
