Chapter 16: Chapter -16 Welcome to hell 988 [1]
"Hey, Bryan. What's with the dagger." I said as I looked at Bryan who warily walked down the stairs and pointed the dagger towards Cronos.
In the next movement, I quickly understood what Bryan was trying to say.
"He is an allay."
"Are you sure?"
"Yea," I reassured him.
"He is someone who might be able to defeat that man." As soon as I said these words Bryan's eyes wide opened.
His grip over the dagger weakened due to which it fell to the ground. His trembling hands wrapped over his body as he started to tremble uncontrollably.
"Chris it's useless. That man...He cannot be defeated."
"We can't know until and unless we give it a shot." I tried to convince him.
I slowly made my way toward him and hugged him. One might think that I was just using him as a piece and my emotions towards him were fake but no.
He is probably the first person whom I didn't treat as a piece. He... He was like a brother to me. Even if we are not biologically related.
Soon he calmed down.
"You are right. It is worth giving a shot. Well, my question is who is he." Bryan said as he pointed toward the cloaked figure. His face was
covered in an oversized helmet.
"As I said he is someone who might be able to defeat that man in the next two or three years."
"Really."
"Yea." As soon as I said that another dagger materialized in his hand as he dashed towards Cronos.

Bryan performed many simple-looking but deadly slashes which Cronos was able to dodge easily.
A satisfied look appeared on his face.
Just as Cronos was dodging another slash he stepped on a can due to which he slipped.
The sound of rib cracking echoed through the room.
"What the fuck! You're telling me that this person who is more fragile than a dog's poop can defeat that man! What the fuck is this thing anyway.".Bryan glared at me with such a look that implemented -is this a joke?
Then I sat and explained to him the whole situation -How I found Cronos and his backstory and him being some unknown creature called Skello vampire.
"Can you please keep him for some days?"
"Absolutely no."
He refused at first but after begg- cough cough requesting him for a time he agreed to it.
"And yeah I want to know about another thing."
"What is it," I asked with a smile on my face.
"When will you pay me back." Hearing his words the smile on my face crumbled.
"What. Cat caught your mouth. Boy, I pay your school fees so I want you to try to spend less." He suddenly started to lecture me like a father.
"And why the hell did you go to the black market once again!"
Danm it! Why is he so overprotective? If he ever found a person who is just a year smaller than him he would start treating them as his little sibling.
After he calmed down he looked at me with a serious expression.
"Well, I will let it slide this time but remember, this is the last time I see you doing useless expenses. At least show me what you bought."
My face darkened as I steeled my mind to listen to another hour of lecture.

In an underground prison, Ray could be seen. His hands were chained to the wall.

The prison's door opened and a figure who was completely covered in a black outfit entered.
According to him Ray was only mentally broken so he would be turned into a mindless slave.
He quickly stabbed Ray on his neck with an injection and injected mind-breaking serum.
He then proceeds to unchain Ray.
"Prisoner 988 it's time to go"
Turning around, Ray Indifferently looked at him. No words escaped from his mouth.
"Come on, I don't have all day." The man impatiently grumbled.
"…"
Once again not responding, Ray moved towards the entrance of the room.
TAP. TAP. TAP
The only sound that was heard was the sound of footsteps.
Ray thought of multiple planes through out his journy to kill the man in front of him and escape but he couldn't think of anything.
Even with the help of his bloodline ability [System] he can't defeat the man in front of him who was a star -7 demonic slave.
It was just impossible.
Both of them were going to lower floors which confused him more and more.
Soon the reached towards and elevator and entered it.
The elevator seemed to be going towards the lower floor.
Ray couldnt get rid of the ominous feeling in his heart.
His heart started beating at a very fast pace.

They both stayed in the elavator for whole ten minutes. It was supprising that how deep this place was.
As Soon as the elevator's door opened and they both walked forward.
Ray was shocked as he looked at the seen in front of him.
Thousands of cages in which humans were locked. It almost loooed like a zoo.
Tgere were food trays in which leftover raw meat was left.
Ray was horrified but didn't show it as he had to act broken.
But still he was after all a fourteen year old kid. His face twitched.
"Hmm so my hunch was correct. You still have some sanity left."
Ray didn't reply but his heart started to beat at a faster rate.
"You might be confused where we are? This is a fun place for us. It's a zoo."
The man said as he went towards one of the cage and knocked on it multiple times.
The man in the cage quickly disappeared and reappeared in another cage.
Then he looked at Ray and smiled.
The man covered in black outfit looked at Ray's expression and sighed.
"145 you are truly disappointing. No food for you this entire week. You can feed yourself on your own flesh."
The smoke on 145's face crumbelled.
"As much as I would loved to show you all the tricks I can't because time is running out. For people like you who still have a bit sanity left there is a special place."
Both of them then proceeded to walk for next several hours before reaching towards a giant gate.
What was beyond the gate terrified Ray.
This scene would be engraved in his mind for his whole life.
"Welcome to hell 988."
