Chapter 24: Ava - Olivia's Call
Jaxon left my room at twelve o'clock, midnight because it got too cold to stay outside of my window. As soon as he left, I took a shower and changed into my pajamas and got into bed. I buried myself under the thick blankets and pillows and fell fast asleep.
My phone rang at exactly one in the morning, I rubbed my eyes open and thought who calls at this freaking hour. I look at my screen and Olivia's name flashes on it, dear God I'm beginning to wish I did not extend my help to her, what on earth could she want right now? I slide my finger over the screen to answer the phone.
"Hello?" I say groggily over the phone.
"Ava, this is Olivia. So sorry to wake you, I really need to speak to you."
There's a moment of silence that extends over the phone.
"So speak woman I'd like to get some sleep here." I say to her.
"It's Daddy,....he..."she sniffles over the phone like she's crying.
"He has arranged for me to marry one of his business partner's son."
"Awww, that's nice I'm sure your father's got everything taken care of and I'm sure whoever he is must be decent," I reply.
"I hardly know him, and I'd like to see Andreas for the last time. I thought he could help figure out who would want to kidnap me and why since has access to a lot of information and stuff," says Olivia sorrowfully.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" I ask her.
"Yeah, I figured I could ask Daddy if I could spend some time with you and Jaxon, you know before the big day where I meet this guy."
"So you want to meet Andreas without your father knowing about it? I clarify with her."
"Yes", she replies firmly.
"Alright, you have great timing you know that..." but she interrupts me saying "I am sorry for waking you up."
"No I was going to say Jaxon is supposed to leave tomorrow, guess he will be joining us."
"Where do we meet you?" I ask her.
"I'll come over to your place,no worries. Daddy should allow it. Can I come over tomorrow?"
There's silence again over the phone as though she's holding her breath while I take my time to give her an answer.
"Sure, tomorrow is fine. See you then. Anything else you want to tell me?"
"Nope, that's it. I'll catch up with you tomorrow. Good night Ava."
Then she hangs up.
I wake up six thirty in the morning, I wash and get dressed. I go over to Jaxon's room and knock on the door.
"Come on in", he says.
So I turn the knob and walk in closing the door behind me.
"Hey what's up?" He asks me with a curious smile crossing his handsome features.
"Olivia called me last night, she wants to meet up and help her meet Andreas to gather more information. Could you accompany us. I know you're set to leave today but I was wondering if you could hold on till the end of this weekend."
He whistles in surprise.
"That is long, I guess I could but will your folks mind?"
"They won't mind at all." I reply.
He listens as I tell him everything Olivia told me.
"Alright, so the plan is we meet this Andreas, then we meet the guy her dad has chosen for her and then ciao?"
"Yeah, that's pretty much it." I say in agreement to his assessment of the situation.
"What time is Olivia expected to arrive today?"
"I'm guessing somewhere around noon." I reply.
"Ok, you want me to tell your parents or should I?"
"We can both tell them." I suggest.
"Ready for breakfast?" I ask him.
"Yup," he answers shortly.
