Chapter 3: The Red Land

Chapter 3

The Red Land

Two days and two nights, Kiera and Bianca travel across the valley and mountains. They walked almost nonstop until the third morning, at that time, both saw a small village just on the lips of the forest.

Fog as hanging around, covering a village. Tops of trees stick like black claws trying to reach the sky. The scenery that lay down Kiera's eyes was glued, the place was so mysterious, as if it was separated from the outside world.

The villages look like floating at the base of the valley. Kiera watched the surroundings enthusiastically. It is different from the Larangan Forest on the surrounds of White Stone, her homeland, most of which are only overgrown with molten trees and large white rocks towering.

Again, Kiera's eyes traced the valley below. A large river flows limiting mountains with residential areas. As far as the eye looks, the green of oak trees shelter the area like a green blanket that stretches.

"Is this a place where granny's friend live in?"

The clear voice of Kiera broke the silence of the morning.

Kiera asked Bianca, but the girl's eyes were still staring at the valley before her. A warm feeling flooded Kiera's heart.

"Yes, Aaegon, my friend, lives here," Bianca said.

Bianca's eyes glued to look at Kiera. Under the sigh of morning sun, the whole body of the girl seems to glow emit light from the inside, not because of the reflection of the sun. However, it seems that Kiera own was not very aware of her situation. Bianca sighed. Apparently, her grandchild's mood could affect her physicality.

Bianca realized if she wanted to protect Kiera, she had to meet Aaegon and asking him immediately help her grandchild to control the strength of the Kiera had. Before the hunters and bad peoples intentions found Kiera again. Bianca believes, the people who had previously attacked Kiera, were one of the parties who wanted Kiera. Either to destroy or to take advantage of the girl's strength.

"Kiera! Listen to granny well. Later, whatever happens doesn't come out of the valley, as long as Aaegon hasn't allowed. Pay attention to all of his directions correctly!" Bianca spoke as she held her grandchild's shoulders strongly so she hope that Kiera remembered the message.

Bianca waited until Kiera returned her eyes and understood what she said. After she saw the girl nodded, then Bianca took off the handle on the Kiera's shoulder and looked away at the valley below.

"Well, oke, Grandma." Kiera replied convincingly.

Even though, she did not know why her grandmother looked so worried. Kiera thought, maybe all of that had to do with the attack on her in the Larangan Forest, yesterday.

As has been told by her grandmother along the way, Kiera also witnessed their own purpose, The Red Land, namely the valley across the river where they stood up, truly beautiful.

With their red soil, from a height it looks like a stretch of rug in the middle of the mountain green surrounding it. It is strange, the valley starts from the river under the hill where now Kiera stands up, to the river boundaries under the opposite hill, has a stretch of red land, in contrast to all other mainland around it. That also caused the valley called The Red Land. On this place, Kiera will spend the days in future.

After feeling enough take some rest, Kiera and Grandma Bianca continued the trip. It doesn't take long for both of them to reach the village. The settlement looks quiet. Some small huts that are far apart like they are in an empty state.

Without reducing speed, Bianca and Kiera walked until they arrived in front of a hut that looked bigger than all the huts they had passed.

Kiera almost hit her grandmother's body, when Suddenly Bianca stopped the steps in the middle of the yard. In addition to the furnace with a cooking place from bronze on it, the place feels deserted.

Kiera neck's suddenly shuddered. She felt someone was watching. However, Kiera did not see anyone's shadow in that place. She looked right and left to ascertain the situation, but again she didn't find anyone else, besides herself with her grandmother.

"Aaegon! I know, you are here!" Bianca's voice echoed in the empty place, creating a silence that felt tense. For a moment, Bianca and Kiera stood still, waiting.

Blazzzh!

A white light by cold winds within, hit Bianca and Kiera. As fast as lightning, Bianca grabbed her grandchild's hand and took the girl to dart to the other side of the yard.

At the same time, ice chunks piled up in the place which where Kiera and her grandmother stood up. Strangely, even though the wind hit and carrying the chunks of the ice felt so strong, but the furnace and fireplace were only a few inch from that place, it looked not a bit disturbed.

"Brash, you, Aaegon!"

"Hahaha ... you're still nimble like dozens years ago, Bianca! Also, it's still the same as hard! What wind brought you far to the east here?"

Whether from where it came from, a figure by white robe with long hair, which was also white, suddenly it was there and replied to the Bianca call with a voice containing laughter.

The man, now stands right in front of Bianca, without the slightest guilt. Bianca extended her right hand with a hand position standing from the elbow to the wrist, the palm opened at the man in front of her.

"Huh? If there is no my grandchild, I kill you right now! Hmm, you look better than the last time we meet, Aaegon.

"Aaegon, middle-aged man who now stands before Bianca, touching his right hand into the hands of Bianca in the same position.

Their eyes met. The years they have passed like vanished when they both coincided to look at Kiera. Both looked at the white tall girl with golden brown long curly hair. Not missing, they noticed that Kiera had an unusual wide eyes. The pair of eyes was blue sapphire with golden colors around the slice of the girl's eyes, a very unusual blend of colors.

Without saying anything, both, Bianca and Aaegon sighed. The figure of Kiera was truly a balanced blend of her father and mother's appearance.

"A few days ago, unknown people came to White Stone. They attacked my grandchild. No one survived between them, and yes, this is Kiera, Anyeelie's daughter. This year was sixteen." Bianca answered at length the question was not spoken thrown from Aaegon's eyes.

"Kiera, this is grandmother's best friend, Aaegon. He also guided your parents." Bianca shifted words to Kiera.

Meanwhile, the woman's eyes still fixed towards Aaegon. There was a lot of things she wanted to tell the man, but Bianca didn't want to say in front of her grandchild.

"Grandpa, thank you, you has guided my father and mother."

Kiera's voice that sounded like a clear bell of the bell made Aaegon's eyebrows rise. Meanwhile, Bianca just shrugged. For herself and White Stone residents, Kiera's voice is not a strange thing.

"Kiera! Try to look around this place. You have to get to know your new home. Your hut is behind this hut." After Kiera give greeting at him, with a smooth Aaegon told the girl to leave.

Aaegon knew, there was something that Bianca wants to tell him because even himself has a question that is blocking in his heart.
