Chapter 12: Fire in the Yue courtyard
Ah Yue Meili returned to the Yue courtyard and was stunned when she saw what was happening in the yard. She stood by the moon gate while watching the drama unfolding in the house. 'Who provoked seventh sister?' she thought.
"I stole Older brother Cheng's money when he went to see the master." A boy said while frowning and glaring at the laughing Ah Yue Wei.
"I farted on third brother Fan's face while he was taking a nap under the oak tree. It was so satisfying to finally seek revenge from that troublemaker....give me the antidote!!" another boy yelled at Ah Yue Wei.
"I'm in love with the master…"
The moment the guy said that, it felt like the truth pill's effect had worn off. Everyone suddenly froze like time had stopped.
Ah Yue Fan who was walking on the roof towards the Yue courtyard, slipped and fell on the oak tree that was right beside the building before he immediately stabilized himself and held on to a branch.
The few disciples in the courtyard all turned to look at the guy who had immediately clasped his hands over his mouth to prevent words from coming out, however, because he wasn't saying what was bugging him, he started to bleed from his nose.
"Give me…. I love the master a lot…give me the antidote!.... I can't live without the master….I envy Ah Yue Fan…" he immediately covered his mouth again.
"Yah, so it was you?!" Ah Yue Wei asked with her finger pointing at the guy.
The guy shook his head furiously. Seeing that everyone was looking at him like he was lying, he removed his hands from his mouth and yelled, "I didn't do anything! It wasn't me! I only love the master and nothing else!!"
"I believe him, he's talking from the effect of the truth pill," Someone said.
"That's true… Ah Wei, give him the antidote before he says things that would get third brother mad, you never know when that devil would drop by." Someone urged Ah Yue Wei.
"Hmm, I only have two antidotes and one is all I can spare. So if I give him one, everyone else will have to endure the effect of the pill until it wears off, agree?" Ah Yue Wei beamed.
The others rolled their eyes. She talks like the guild produces more than ten antidotes each for thousands of pills
"Just give it to him. He isn't used to your truth pills yet! He might bite his tongue off like that spy did!" A girl urged Ah Yue Wei with worry on her face.
"Ok, ok, I'm going, stop yelling so much." She walked towards the guy and pushed a pill into his mouth.
Everyone sighed in relief when they saw that. Ah Yue Wei's truth pills were taught to her by the master, just like she taught everyone in the YUE house a specific type of poison and its antidote.
The truth pill, like its name suggests, is a pill that forces a person to pour out everything they are hiding, nothing can be left hiding.
However, Ah Wei's pills are still yet to reach that point. Only Su Yue could make such a pill with perfection and that was why some of the other members who also took the pills were able to shut up when the young man earlier confessed his feelings for Su Yue.
One thing about Ah Yue Wei's truth pills was that a person who took it would be able to choose what truth they want to reveal first unless the person isn't used to the pill.
When a person had taken the pills a few times, the effect would start to diminish, but for first-timers, it would be like their soul would be torn apart if they don't speak, just like a spy that was caught among the Yue disciples a few years ago.
When he was caught, he was fed Ah Yue Wei's truth pills and because he wasn't used to it, he revealed the whole truth, still, the master didn't allow for an antidote to be given to him, so he bit off his tongue, hoping it would relieve his pain, alas, it did nothing to help and in the end, he died while bleeding from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
As for Su Yue's truth pills, they are more advanced and don't care about first-timers or old-timers. The body never gets used to them. Every time a person is fed her truth pills, their senses and everything else that could have assisted them in delaying the truth deserts them and the truth would start flowing out like water from a flowing river.
After the young man had been fed the antidote, everyone calmed down, but still had to continue speaking the truth as the truth pill was still active.
Ah Yue Fan who was on the tree glared daggers at the fellow that was cleaning the blood from his nose. He knew that a lot of people in the guild loves Su Yue, but no one has ever dared to admit it, even under the truth pills made by Ah Wei, but this man…
He was told by his master a while ago that the person after his life wasn't the disciple of the guild but from another assassin guild. Even though he believed her and had let the matter with Yulan Mo slide, he was still upset and now his senior just broke one of his rules, hehehe...
Ah Yue Fan's lips suddenly curled into a wicked smile as he jumped down from the tree and walked towards them.
"Here comes the devil," someone said.
"Hope he didn't hear what Twentieth brother said?" Ah Yue Meili whispered to herself as she walked towards them.
"Little third brother, I'm sorry, I couldn't find the culprit, even with my truth pill. Everyone here is innocent," Ah Yue Wei hurriedly said to divert his attention from their Twentieth brother, because the way Yue Fan's eyes were fixed on him, it was obvious he heard it.
Ah Yue Wei's reasons for taking the matter upon herself were two. One was because she was truly upset and secondly, because it was not ideal for an angry Ah Yue Fan to handle the investigation by himself.
The victim would suffer before their innocence is proven, especially when he caught a whiff or suspects a person. Moreover, he has the talent of not mistaking a criminal for an innocent person.
If he didn't find what he wanted from a criminal he was interrogating, instead of letting them off, he would rather punish them for all the crimes they had committed in the past and the same ideology is what he uses on everyone, including his fellow disciples.
