There were people above, watching the emperors. Many of them were shocked to see the cold prince so forthcoming with his affection and willing to comfort the empress while she was emotional. It was so different from how she was with Ebari. Any doubts about the union fizzled instantaneously in front of those witnessing the event.

When Varya had pulled herself together, she took her own page from tucked just inside the draped material on the back of her dress where she had folded and tucked it as she was getting dressed. She smiled shyly and Basileus let out a short laugh.

"Where else was I going to put it?" she asked quietly.
