Chapter 23: Rescuing Machias (1)
In the Bareahard prison....
Provincial army soldier: Get in there.
The jail door closed.
Machias: ..Grk..
Provincial army soldier: Do as you're told and you won't be hurt.
Provincial army soldier: If you're found to be innocent, we'll let you out eventually.
The soldiers leave.
Machias: Damn it. How could I have been so careless?
Machias: Considering Dad's position, I should have known this could happen..
Machias: Ram has been warning us since we came here and was also trying to protect me. I could not understand his intentions at all.
In the Noble's district...
The 4 of them stood before the prison. Rean, Fie and Emma were talking to the provincial army officer. Ram stood in the back as he knew the talks won't do anything.
"As I keep telling you, Machias couldn't possibly have committed the crimes he is accused of!" said Rean.
"He's been with us ever since he arrived in Bareahard yesterday afternoon! He's never left our sight!" said Rean.
"Umm.. So if you really believe he's responsible, shouldn't you be arresting us as well?
Ram heard the comment and his face twitched. "Is she supposed to give new ideas to these bastards?" thought Ram.
"You're wasting your breath" said the officer arrogantly.
"Machias Regnitz will be kept in our custody until he's been cleared of all charges against him." replied the officer.
"We've already contacted the academy to inform them of this." said the officer.
"What a load of bullshit." shouted Ram with anger.
"Watch your tongue boy." warned the officer.
"You are lucky that we are not arresting you. But if you show your attitude towards us we will be arresting you too." warned the officer.
Ram does not fear them at all. He could wipe the provincial army here if he wanted to. Even if he gets imprisoned his brothers Bhargav and Girish will not keep quiet.
He knows that his big brother Bhargav may be a battle junkie and craves combat a lot, but he doesn't harm anyone by it, but he is the elder one of all the three.
He is not going to tolerate any harm to other two in any way. The same goes for Girish, he might be patient and calm but if he gets angry then no one can stand him. If the two of them come to know that Ram is imprisoned, the two of them will sever the head of Helmut Albarea.
"Unbelievable.." sighed Fie.
"One more thing.
Jusis's business estate will take longer than expected to complete. I'm afraid he will be unable to join you." said the officer.
"Did this come from Jusis himself?" said Fie with eyes narrowed.
"Couldn't tell you. I'm relaying the message given to me by Albarea household." said the officer.
"And don't even think of trying to go to the mansion to see him." said the officer.
The four of them moved away from the prison and stood at a distance.
"I'm betting they had this whole thing planned out since yesterday." said Rean.
"That scumbag of a Duke did come yesterday to visit Jusis, so it isn't surprising to me." said Ram with sarcasm.
"You're quite lucky that they didn't arrest you after the stunt you pulled against the Duke." said Emma nodding her head.
"You still underestimate me and looking at them as superior one. The fact is that guy is scared shit off me because he would lose his soldiers if I took on their soldiers." said Ram with a serious tone.
"Then, why don't you go and fight them. You could rescue Machias." said Fie mocking him.
"I am not my brother Bhargav." said Ram before opening the system.

He got the lockpicking skill in the arsenal now.
Everyone made their way to the hotel and they were not allowed to reside there due to investigation,. They made their way to restaurant and soldiers were there too so Ram suggested going to the bar in Artisan street.
"So in all likelihood, the reason Machias was arrested has nothing to do with the incident at the fort yesterday." said Rean.
"You're stating the obvious. That moron of a duke is brazen enough to use Machias as a card against the Imperial governor Carl Regnitz." said drinking the tea.
"That does seem to be the most plausible explanation." said Emma.
Ram wouldn't have come here and would have directed them to the sewers directly if Toval wouldn't be there.
He has already seen Toval enter the bar and sitting near the bartender. Since the triplets liked Toval a lot, Ram smiled on seeing him.
One of the reasons why they like him a lot because his help to Rean during the upcoming civil war.
Ram listened to their conversation and kept quiet. Rean thought that Rufus would have helped them if he isn't in capital.
Since Ram knows the true nature of Rufus Albarea and this is not the situation to trash talk him, Ram just nodded blindly to the talk.
"Our only option is to break him out." said Fie.
"Fie..?" said Emma.
"That's a little excessive..." said Rean.
"I don't think so. These guys are not playing by the rules and have broken them. It is time we did the same." said Ram grinning.
"Thank you for siding with me." said Fie.
"You're welcome." said Ram
"Don't encourage her, Ram?" said Emma.
"Think about it. We have a perfect chance to bust him out while he's still at the guardhouse." said Fie.
"If they take him to the fort, we would lose that chance." added Fie.
"..Well I can't argue with that, atleast." said Rean.
"Let's give it a try." said Rean.
"So smoke grenades, then?" said Fie.
"You don't carry them, don't you?" asked Emma.
"What fair maiden doesn't?" said Fie.
"Don't worry I have something up my sleeves just like her grenade." said Ram.
"Not you too." said Rean.
"Hey master. What are the monsters in underground waterways like these days?" asked Toval.
Ram smiled as Toval was indirectly hinting the clues.
"Been three months or so since you went down there huh?" said Giolamo the bartender.
"The monsters are crawling there and there are powerful ones mixed among them?" said Giolamo.
Ram heard that part and felt strange because that was not the dialogue in the game.
He felt that there is a butterfly effect due to three of them and it is going to bite Ram here.
"How can they sleep at night with their beautiful city's got nasty monsters crawling around underneath it?" said Toval sighing.
"I'll clean them if they put a request." said Toval.
"If there is any request I'll pass it to you in Legram." said Giolamo.
"All right, I'll get going." said Toval.
Toval turned and took a few steps and saw the 4 of them.
"Huh. Don't see many people dressed like that around here." said Toval.
"You guys students or something?" said Toval.
"We're from Thors Military academy in Trista." said Emma.
"We are sent here as a part of our field study." said Rean.
"Thors huh?" said Toval.
Toval looked at the odd one out Ram. He saw him giving a smile.
Ram winked and gave a nod acknowledging the hint.
Fie saw the gesture between the two and got curious.
"Woah, he is sharp." thought Toval before going away.
"What's with the winking and nodding?" asked Fie curiously.
"That guy has indirectly hinted us to enter the waterways and sneakily enter the prison." said Ram getting up.
"How?" asked Rean.
"I have a hunch that the guy is related to Sara. He chose to help us without raising suspicion." said Ram.
"During these times it is better we follow him." said Emma.
"Then, let's go." said Rean.
