Chapter 11: Enemies And Guardians

"Oh my God! He left me. Panic sets in after only two hours. At first, she just laid in bed crying for an hour. Her memories came back in a flood of horrific images that she had to endure alone. She remembers walking out of the bar to wait for the taxi when she was approached by a gorgeous man in a business suit who asks for a light−Then digging in her purse with her head bent down, she searched for the lighter she used in lighting candles in her room. A gasp to her left brings her head up to watch in horror as a tattooed man places a cloth over her sister's face. As she goes limp, he picked her up and heads for a black SUV. She opened her mouth to scream out when she felt the same type of cloth covers her face.

Then she felt nothing.

The days that passed were the worst of her life. She was kept naked and afraid of being raped, beaten daily by whips, paddles, and canes. She was locked away from her sister, not knowing if she was suffering the same fate, praying that she wasn't. They told her never to look at their faces, but she was punished daily for doing just that. She was determined to identify these monsters when she escapes, to put them behind bars so they could never again do this to another human being. They treated her like an animal, forced to eat and drink out of a bowl without using her hands, peed on a pad and the other in a litter box.

The trainers only called her Pet but she corrected them by saying, "My name is Amber, which means, "Presence of God." She was punished daily for this, too. She needed to humanize herself to them in hopes that they would see the error of their ways. They are the worst kind of monsters, ones that don't go away when you wake up from your nightmare. They saw her as an object for torture, slavery, and sex. This was not the life she planned for or would willingly accept.

She'd just graduated from college with her degree in Psychology, and she wanted to become a therapist. Her sister, Tori, had one year to go for her Bachelors in Child Development, and she wanted to become a teacher. Their mother was a huge influence on them choosing their career paths because she was their high school student counselor. She loved helping people and always encouraged them to be kind and helpful to others.

Their mother passed away four years ago, leaving their father a widower; they were all he has left. She couldn't imagine what he will be going through. Her mom was his world; then she died of a brain aneurysm, and they took her place as his number one priority. He guided them, protected them and spoiled them. They are a middle-class family from Ocean Pines, Delaware that planned well for the future. Her sister and her are driven and focused. Scholarships plus savings have put them both through school.

She needs to find her sister, and she needs Troy to help her. "Why did he leave me? Was it something I did? Maybe the prospect of dealing with someone so broken has become too overwhelming. My dad and I can pay for his help. He said he was a private investigator, isn't that what they do? "

Slowly, she pulled herself together and jump through the six-man shower. She found boxers that she had to tie in a knot at the waist to keep them from falling off and grabs another button down shirt from the closet. She likes that she smells like him when she wears his clothes.

This house is so beautiful but scary when you're alone. The gigantic windows have no blinds so anyone can see in from the forest that surrounds the house. She quickly moves down the stairs and rushed to the kitchen to find food; She was starving.

The workout last night probably burned more calories than a five-mile run. Her cheeks heat at the memory of what they did. She couldn't believe she gave her virginity to a complete stranger after saving it for all these years. Tori and her joked about who would lose it first except they were both waiting for "Mr. Right." She had dated a lot but have never felt that kind of pull to any man. She was getting warm just thinking of the way he held her down−Remembering the look on his face when he swallows her as she screams in pleasure−The epic moment of his powerful thrust as he buries himself inside her. He was so patient as he waited for her to adjust. She was about having a spontaneous orgasm just thinking of him, and then she will forget to eat.

Moving through the spacious kitchen, she searched every cupboard and only came up with soup, which she's tired of eating, and canned ravioli. The basics in the fridge were beer, milk, butter, eggs, bread, jam, ketchup, and mustard. In the freezer, she found some steaks, chicken, sausage, and cookie dough ice cream. Ravioli it is.

Halfway through her food, she heard a loud thump at the front door, then scraping sounds as if something is being dragged across the porch. she froze and held her breath. "Have my kidnappers found me? Where did Troy go? I will die before they take me back. Grabbing a kitchen knife, she raced up the stairs to the bedroom and crouched low in the closet under the hanging pants. She hovered the razor sharp knife at her neck just in case she only had a second to react. Already knowing she was no match for the men who took her, slicing her throat will be her only option for freedom. She waits, holding her breath.

Driving like a bat out of hell, Troy raced up the mountain. After everything she has been through, and if what Jake said is right, an absolute nightmare, he'll be a grade "A" asshole for leaving her alone. Hopefully, Jake will be able to get him info on the missing girl from the house. At least now they have a lead they can work with. He'd been too busy to look at missing persons and trying to find a match. Having his dick think for him for the last week has left him feeling out of control. He has none when it comes to her.

He knows he's been gone too long, but he needs to check the crash site that Jake spoke of. What is the proximity of the wreckage site to the dirt road leading to his place? There is a steep decline on the opposite side of the road from his side except it wasn't something he was looking for on his way up to his cabin, so he didn't notice anything out of order. Passing his turnoff by at least a mile, he flips his truck around and drive slowly to look for signs of an accident.

Not twenty yards from his drive, he saw skid marks and broken tree limbs leading down the hill. he pulled over, jumps out and ran to the edge. Seeing a distinct path that smashed down the brush and broke trees, he slowly makes his way down the hill. About half way down, he sees a lot of blood in a body-sized area. At the bottom of the hill, small trees and bushes are smashed flat, probably compressed by a heavy object. "This is probably where the car rested, but where is the car"? He assumed that someone took care of the dead guards that Jake spoke of because they have tried to clean up the area as if it never happened. The next rainstorm will wash away any remaining evidence left behind. He scrambled back up the steep hill, needing desperately to get back to her to make sure she is okay. If she is the missing girl and they haven't found her dead, they will be looking for her, and he will be the asshole who left her unprotected.

Jumping in the truck, he raced the 20 yards to his drive.

Turning down his road, he was speeding up while jerking his truck around through a few ruts. Right now he's desperate to make sure she's okay, so he doesn't care about the abuse his truck is suffering. "Have they found her? Am I too late"?

The cabin is dark, and he sees no movement through the windows. he pulled out his .45 as he rushed to the porch, tripping in his haste to get to the front door. His shoulder slams into the planter and moves it a foot. Lucky for him it was empty, or his shoulder would be broken or dislocated. He drags it back into place as he stands and heads to the door.

Listening for any sound of struggle or anything unfamiliar, it took all his control not to rush in to make sure she is safe. He punched in his code and slowly ease the door open. As the door clicks shut behind me, he listened again for any signs of an intruder. He hears nothing, not even the sound of his guest. His stomach revolts. "Am I too late? Did they get to her"?

Stealth be damned, he rushed for the stairs, climbing them three at a time and burst through his bedroom door to an empty room. "Oh God, no! No, no! Heading for the closet to grab his go bag, he opened the door and stop dead in his tracks. She has a knife poised at her throat, and her hand was shaking so bad that he fears she will cut herself just from the movement. "I did this to her. I have made her want to kill herself rather than be touched by me again. I am worse than the men who possibly abused her for weeks. At least they didn't rape her. I took care of that all on my own". Shame drags him to his knees as he set his gun to the side. "Please, Baby, put down the knife. I promise I won't hurt you. I will take you to the nearest hospital to get help. I will leave you in safe hands and never bother you again if that's what you want, but please just put away the knife." She shakes her head back and forth in a panic and blood trickles down the side of her neck to her collarbone. Once the sting registers, she drops the knife and rushes me.
