Chapter 18: Feeling a bit Unusually Different Lately
[Rudeus POV]
I am currently resting in the bedroom that was given to me by Philip.
Me and Rebecca were given separate rooms, which is a good and bad thing.
The good thing is that I can finally have some privacy and will finally be alone for once.
However, the bag thing is....
*knock* *knock*
"Who is it"
"It's me, Rebecca. Can I come in?"
Yeah, that's the bad thing, she'll never going to stop visiting me just to check on my condition.
"Come in"
*creak*
When I told her to come in, she then peeks her head after opening the door.
"Are you feeling okay there, onii-chan?"
"I'm fine, Rebecca. Why do you ask?"
Did something happen? Why did she ask that suddenly?
"Well, you see, now that we are living at separate rooms, I'd like to check on you at least once every single night. Is that fine for you, onii-chan?"
Ah, I see. Now that we are no longer living in the time room like we used to back in Buena village, she is worried about not seeing me in the evening.
"Rebecca, it's fine, really. You can visit me whenever you like just to ease your worries." I reassured her uneasiness.
"Really?! I really can visit you every time. onii-chan?!" When I told her that she can visit whenever she likes, her eyes sparkle so bright and if only she has a dog tail, she'd be wagging it so fast due to satisfaction and happiness.
"Yeah, sure you can." I confirmed her question and she smiled brightly.
She stayed in my room for a while, talking about what happened a while ago.
"Eh? Eris attacked you at the hallway?"
"Yeah, that loser won't quit her anger issues towards me and actually tried to drop kick me. You should have saw her reaction when I skillfully dodged it, she's so pissed when she landed pathetically. HAHAHAHA!" Rebecca hysterically laughs as she talks about Eris's hissy fit.
*sigh* "Why do you hate Eris so much, Rebecca? You know she can kick you out of the mansion if she wants to" I reprimand Rebecca for her mockery towards Eris.
However, she just snorted at my rebuke.
"Hmph, that loser was so full of herself and she's so overbearing to look at. Honestly, her arrogance will be downfall soon enough" Rebecca haughtily criticizes Eris.
"You say that, but aren't you the same as well" as I said that, Rebecca glared at me.
Then she got up from my bed, which she was laying on since the beginning of the conversation, and walks towards me. She then grabbed my lapel and looked at me in the eye.
"Hey, onii-chan! Don't compare me to that b*tch, she's much worse than me, you know!" she angrily returns the rebuke and reprimanded me instead.
"It's not like that, Rebecca. Sure, she's quite haughty and arrogant, but she's the daughter of the- Guh!!"
While I am trying to correct her, she jabbed me at my stomach, making me kneel to the floor.
"You're the worse, onii-chan. IDIOT!!"
She then angrily walks to the door and grumpily opens the door.
*SLAM*
She slams the door on her way out, leaving me on the ground clutching to my aching stomach for a few minutes.
'Damn, the power of that punch is overwhelming. I thought I was going to die.'
"..."
*sigh* "I better say sorry to her right away" I said to myself as I tried to get up.
*creak*
As I am getting up, I saw Rebecca's head peeking through the gap of the slightly opened door.
I quickly prostrate to her as fast as I could.
"I'm sorry, Rebecca! I didn't mean to compare you to Eris!" I apologized profusely to Rebecca.
"Is that so? If that's how it is, then I shall accept your humble apology. I shall bid you a pleasant evening, Rudeus. See you tomorrow." Rebecca calmly says as she closes the door.
For a split second, I took at glimpse at her eyes.
Was it just me or is it a bit different than usual. I have sworn that I saw a golden glint on them.
Hmm.... Meh, I guess it is just the light reflection.
What matters is that she accepted my apology, so there is nothing to worry about.
Mwahahahaha...

Wait, something is not right.
Did she just call me Rudeus just now?
She never called me that normally before for a long while, it was always onii-chan and nothing else.
Was it a character development or something?
No, something is off here.
The way she talks is a bit weird too.
She was quite enthusiastic and boisterous a while ago
And just now, she's quite calm when she talked, a bit too calm if you ask me.
"...."
I need to know what's going on here. I want to talk to her about this.
After gathering my thoughts, I walked towards the door and exit the room.
As I exit the room, I can see the moonlight pouring in from the hallway windows.
I then walk through the dark hallway and towards Rebecca's room.
Just as I am heading to a corner on the distance, I saw Rebecca walking aimlessly.
She doesn't seem to notice me, so I tried to call for her.
"Psst, Rebecca. Over here."
However, she doesn't hear my call and just continued to walk through the hallway.
'Weird? Does she not hear me? or was she ignoring me?'
I then run towards the direction she went and decide to follow her.

[Third POV]
Rudeus decided to follow Rebecca through the hallways, who seemed acting strange.
He didn't know what was going on, but he had to find out.
He was curious as to what could be wrong, and he didn't want to miss anything that was happening.
He sneakily followed Rebecca, tailing her from behind.
As he followed her, he could sense that something was definitely wrong.
Rebecca seemed unusually calm and deprived of emotion, as if she is a robot of some sort.
'There's definitely something wrong with her. What's happening to you, Rebecca?'
He didn't know what it could be happening to her, but he was determined to find out what was going on.
Eventually, they came to a corner and Rebecca turned to a blind spot. Rudeus gave chase to catch up with her.
However, as Rudeus reaches the corner, Rebecca vanished from the hallway.
"Huh? Where did she go?"
He was confused on where Rebecca went when she went to the corner.
As Rudeus was searching for Rebecca, he was suddenly got struck on the back of his head.
He fainted and collapse to the floor, making him unconscious.
The perpetrator who hit Rudeus was none other than Rebecca herself and she is looking him with a deadpan expression.
And her eyes... the eyes were not blue like she used to have.
It is golden yellow and it glows menacingly in the dark.
She stared at Rudeus who is unconscious on the floor.

"You shouldn't have followed me here, Rudeus. I have better things to do, you know"
She coldly mutters to herself and she placed her hand on Rudeus head. She then chant a strange and unfamiliar incantation that doesn't seem to be found in any magic textbooks.
"[Abyssal Tampering Magic]"
Dark glow came out of Rebecca's hand and something was altered in Rudeus's memory, deleting the moment when he followed Rebecca through the hallway and replacing it with something else.
"You're too early to know the truth, Rudeus. You have to wait a bit longer before finding out the reality you are living in"
Rebecca somberly mutters as she picks up Rudeus and take him away.
....
Meanwhile, while Rudeus was been knocked out by Rebecca.
Another person spies on them from a safer distance.
The person is a girl with red hair and red eyes.
It was Eris and she was nervously watching the scene unfolded while hiding further from the two people.
She saw Rebecca suddenly appearing behind Rudeus and knocked him out, as well as doing weird magic on him.
Rebecca then picked up Rudeus and carried him on his shoulder.
As Rebecca was about to leave, she then turns around and looks at the direction where Eris was.
Eris was terrified when Rebecca found out her hiding spot and runs away.
'What the hell! How does she know I am here? I need to find Ghislaine immediately'
As she was running away, she was then struck from behind and fells to the floor, making her unconscious.
"There will be no witnesses"
The perpetrator who was Rebecca, hit Eris on the back of the head as well.
Then she did the same magic she used on Rudeus and erased the current memory from her mind.
Rebecca then picked up Eris and chant another magic.
"[Space Transfer]"
She then teleported to somewhere else, leaving the hallways empty.
or so we think.
"Ojou-sama...."

[Rebecca's POV]
I had a nightmare.
A really terrible nightmare.
A bad dream wherein I was back in the previous world and I had my old previous body back.
I panicked and frantically looked around. I realized that I am in the street on where I met onii-chan's previous self.
I kept looking around the street and found that the place is empty and deserted.
There were no people or any form of life can be found.
After walking within the dream, I saw a figure on the distance, standing on the center of an intersection road.
The figure seems a girl with a pure white body and long white hair that reach to the floor,
She has no facial features other than a mouth.
I walk towards the girl and stand in front of her.
She looks at me with her eyeless face and raise the right hand to point on a certain direction.
I looked at the direction she is pointing and saw two figures on the far distant street.
The first one was a woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She wore a white light armor with blue accents and wields a huge black lance with blue highlights on her right hand. She has whitish blue wing on her left side and she has the looks of a warrior.
The second one was a woman with long whitish pink hair and blue eyes. She wore a very beautiful white dress with various ornaments. She has six huge angel wings behind her back that looks like it came from a biblical accurate creature.
I was confused on why those two people are in my dream and asked the pure white girl.
"Who are they?"
"Kukukuku~ How come you're so forgetful, young one? Do you not remember? Your long forgotten past and for who you really are? Kukukuku"
"?!"
And then the pure white girl suddenly shines brightly, blinding the whole surrounding in white light.
"Wah!"
Everything around me turned white and the two figures on the distance vanished, leaving only me behind in a pure white void
Finally, my very own eyes closed on itself, making my vision went dark.
....
*gasp*
I woke up from the dream I had and quickly got up to look around my surrounding.
From the looks of it, I am currently in my room and I am sitting on my bed.
I can see sunlight creeping under the door, meaning it is morning now.
I then patted my body next to see that if I revert back to my current self and I was in relief that my body is still of Rebecca Greyrat.
"Phew~ That was a close one. Hmm?"
I then noticed that onii-chan and Eris are sleeping next to me for some reason.
'What the heck were these two doing in my room?'
I don't remember them entering the room or anything.
If anything, I only remembered feeling a betrayed that onii-chan compared me to Eris and actually favors her more than me.
'Hmph, idiot brother. Not only you broke my heart a while ago, you have the audacity to sleep in my bed and brought Eris with you.'
I enviously thought to myself and raised both of my two hands in the air.
*slap* *slap* *slap* *slap* *slap*
"Ow, ow, ow, hey stop! ow, ow, huh? Rebecca?! What are you doing in my room?!"
I childishly pounded my palms on his head while pouting because of my jealously towards him and Eris.
"Hmph, I'll have you know that this is MY room, thank you very much!"
I angrily rebuked him while still hitting his head.
"No, it's not. This is my room!"
"I know what my room looks like, dummy!"
"No! This is my room! Your sword wasn't here, idiot!"
"Maybe you just threw it out of the room and claim it was yours, dumbass!"
*groan*
Me and onii-chan then looked at Eris who was woken up by my ruckus.
She looks at us in utter confusion, before furrowing her brows and glared at us.
"Huh? What the hell are you two doing in my room?" she assumes that this room is hers.
"This is an apprentice room, princess! Look around you!"
"Huh?!" Eris irritated by provocation and looks around the room.
She was confused on what's going on and why is she in the room with us.
Even I, myself, was bewildered on the event that is happening.
*creak*
The door of the room slowly opens and a tall muscular beast woman appeared on the other side of the door. The woman is Ghislaine and she is looking at us quite puzzled.
"Ghislaine! Explain why am I with these two brats in this room? and also, WHERE THE HELL AM I?!"
Eris furiously demands Ghislaine an explanation, screaming her hearts out while she's at it.
'Damn, she's so loud'
"Ojou-sama, I believe that this is Rudeus's room"
"HAH! I won! Suck it, Rebec-Guh!"
*smack* *smack*
Me and Eris both smacked him in the face, making him fall from the bed.
Then we both kicked him simultaneously without mercy.
"....."
Ghislaine was dumbfounded by scene playing out.
"Would you like to join us, Ghislaine-san"
"Yeah, Ghislaine, this looks fun to do"
"GHISLAINE! PLEASE STOP THESE TWO CRAZY VIOLENT WOMEN!"
We invited Ghislaine to join our beating session on onii-chan, but she shakes her head in refusal.
"Thanks for the offer, oujou-sama, but I am here for you all to come at the courtyard. It's for the sword training schedule today."
"Oh? Very well then. Come you two brats. We have sword training to do"
"Finally! Salvation!"
"Hey, onii-chan! Don't you can escape from me!"
We three went to the door of the room, but before I could get out, Ghislaine grabs my shoulder.
I looked up at her face and she had a serious expression.
"Rebecca. I want to talk to you after the sword training"
'Eh? Is something wrong? Did I do something?'
I meekly nodded at her and she releases her grip on my shoulder.
I catch up with onii-chan and Eris at the hallway, and we went to the courtyard together.

[Third POV]
Rudeus, Rebecca and Eris all went to the courtyard, completely unaware of what happened last night.
Ghislaine soon catches up with the three and they start the sword training.
"Okay, we will be starting the sword training. I will be assessing your sword skills, Rudeus and Rebecca"
The two of them nodded and grab a wooden sword from the weapon rack on the corner.
Eris and Ghislaine also grabbed theirs as well.
"We will start with the basics. All of you three will do 100 sword swings today."
"Eh? Why so many?"
"Hmph, understood"
"Welp, seems simple enough"
Rudeus complains about the instruction, while Eris and Rebecca comply. Ghislaine nodded at their replies and gives her signal to the three.
"Now, begin!"
""Yes""
The three of them are swing their wooden swords for several minutes.
""64... 65... 66... 67... 68... 69!! 70...""
Rudeus is completely drenched in sweat and couldn't feel his arms due to the continuous sword swings.
""75... 76... 77... 78... 79... 80...""
He looks at Rebecca and Eris who seem completely unbothered and continue to swing their wooden sword.
""81... 82... 83... 85... 86... 87... 89... 90...""
"How the hell are you not tired yet?! We're like almost at a hundred swings by now and you two completely unbothered by this?!" Rudeus is dumbfounded when the two ladies are not affected by fatigue and were totally fine with swinging the sword.
"Come on, onii-chan. We have been doing this since we were at Buena village for two years! TWO YEARS I TELL YOU! How are you still having low stamina till this day?" Rebecca complains at Redeus's lack of stamina.
"What the hell are you talking about, brat? He is just weak, that's all"
"Hey! Don't denounce my onii-chan like that! He can beat you with magic quite easily, right onii-chan?" Rebecca reprimands Eris and asked Redeus to show his magic.
"Eh? Umm... Sorry, I'm a bit tired because from the sword swings. Maybe I'll show you some other time?" Rudeus nervously made an excuse because he knew that Eris will beat his ass.
"Eh? Why not, onii-chan? That's unfair!" Rebecca protests as she keeps on shaking Rudeus's shoulders.
"Hmph, he is just a coward. Brats like that doesn't deserve any respect. I have no interest on seeing your petty magic." Eris arrogantly criticizes Rudeus, which made Rebecca pissed.
"Oh yeah? How about if I do something like this. Onii-chan give me your wooden sword please"
"Huh? Okay, but please be quick or else Ghislaine will get mad at us."
Rudeus hands over his wooden sword and Rebecca now have two at both hands.
"DUAL WIELDING, BABY!! Check this out!"
Rebecca then swings the two swords at her hands with various sword swings.
She copied the sword technique that she saw in an anime once.
"Starburst Stream!!"
She then yells a sword skill while executing the moves of the black swordman.
Rudeus who also watched that anime, was surprised that she could do that move quite perfectly.
*whoosh* *whoosh*
She skillfully swings her swords various direction.
Horizontal slashes, vertical slashes, diagonal slashes, and even X-shaped slashes, she swiftly swings her two wooden swords.
Eris was a bit impressed of her sword skills and smiled a bit.
Rebecca then finishes with a downward strike with both swords.
*WHOOSH*
A strong shockwave blows the surrounding, making a mini gust of wind that both Rudeus and Eris felt.
*pant* *pant* "So, how is that? Was it cool?"
*BONK*
"Ouchie!" Rebecca then got bonk on the head by Ghislaine who was watching her the whole time.
"Do you mind explaining what you are doing? This is a sword god style training, not north god style." Ghislaine reprimands Rebecca for doing something outside of Ghislaine's expertise.
"Ah, I'm sorry Ghislaine. I'm just showing Eris and onii-chan my capabilities in swordsmanship, that's all" Rebecca tried to defend herself.
"Is that so? Very well then, the three of you will do another 100 sword swings" Ghislaine punishes Rebecca by letting her, along with Rudeus and Eris, do more sword swings.
"""EHHHHHHH?!"""

After a whole day of sword training, the sun has already set and it became nighttime.
Rebecca and the others disperse and went back to their rooms and rest.
She entered her room and went to wipe her body sweats and changed her clothes.
She then lay down at her bed and went to sleep.
Few hours later
While she is sleeping, something unusual has happened
*BA DUMP*
A sudden thump within Rebecca's chest resounds within her.
She then opens her eyes and golden yellow pupils glowed in the dark.
She raises up from her bed and chant a strange magic.
"[Space Transfer]"
She then vanished from her bed and appeared at the hallway.
Looking at her surroundings, she walks forward the halls aimlessly.
"Where are you going, Rebecca?" a voice then calls for her from behind.
She then looks back and jumps away from the owner of the voice who is calling for her.
The owner of the voice was Ghislaine and she was looking at Rebecca suspiciously.
Ghislaine notices that Rebecca has golden yellow eyes and was cautious of her presence.
"It's none of your business, Ghislaine Dedoldia. Now, leave" Rebecca coldly commands Ghislaine, which made her perplex of Rebecca's tone.
Ghislaine then slowly puts her hand on her sword handle in case Rebecca attacks her.
Rebecca saw her being alerted by her words. She slowly creeps a smile as if she had a good idea in mind.
"Is that how it is. Well then, die"
"!!"
"[Space Transfer]"
Rebecca then vanished from the spot she was standing, making Ghislaine assumes a defensive stance and looks at her surrounding frantically.
All of a sudden, a small shadow lurks from above Ghislaine.
"!!"
Ghislaine unsheathes her sword and slashes behind her.
However, when she looks behind her, the shadowy figure vanished.
"[Abyssal Tampering Magic]" a small voice can be heard besides her.
When Ghislaine looks at her side, Rebecca is looking at her with her glowing yellow eyes.
Rebecca's hands were already touching Ghislaine's head and she erased her current memories.
She deleted the memory of this encounter and she quickly teleports after she's done doing it.
.....
Ghislaine was stunned for several seconds before coming back to her senses.
"What was I doing here again?" Ghislaine mutters to herself in confusion.
She was left clueless on what she was doing at hall in the first place.
Rebecca seeing that from afar, continues her stroll at the distant hallway in peace.
