Chapter 75: Light Streak
In the walls, the fight against the monsters had intensified.
With the apparition of the A-rank monsters, the situation turned even more complicated.
Count Liam and the other three Legendary Realm experts of the city were forced to fight the A-rank monsters so as to avoid having the city's defenses broken.
The problem was, the number of A-rank monsters was way higher than the number of A-rank humans. Fortunately, the A-rank monsters were a bit weak for their level, and for some reason, none of them used magic. But even so, the situation was very precarious.
More than once, the city's defenses were about to crumble. In one of the occasions, an A-rank monster managed to climb the city walls and started to massacre the humans.
But when everybody thought that the city was done for, two old men appeared and joined the fray. Astonishingly, both of them possessed strength at the Rank 9 level, lightening the burden of the city and improving the situation.
They probably were former famous powerhouses living their retirement in the city.
But even with them, the defensive line's fall was only delayed a bit. With time, more and more A-ranks monsters appeared.
Before long, and even after the humans managed to kill four A-rank monsters, the number of A-rank monsters attacking the city had increased to ten!
"Ugh!" One of the two old men received an attack from both a Jaguar and Tiger-like beast. The attack threw him against a wall and made him vomit a mouthful of blood.
Both monsters roared savagely. They then raised their claws and sliced the old man in multiple pieces at the speed beyond Mach 5.
Just like that, the first Legendary Realm expert of the city was killed.
The death of the old man was like a basin of cold water for the people defending, including the other old men, a look of despair was shown on his eyes when he saw his brother die just like that. He and the other defenders watched how both the tiger and Jaguar moved arrogantly towards the city's doors after killing the old man.
They lifted their claws and-
*Booom!*
Then-
*Booom! *
With each attack of the two beasts working together, the city's giant doors creaked, once and again.
The humans watched with bated breaths and expressions of despair how the two beasts attacked the doors. Some courageous adventurers stood bravely and jumped from the walls to attack the two beasts, but most of the time, both of them did not even need to move and the monsters around them killed the men.
Finally-
*Booom!!!*
*Crack!*
The city's doors cracked.
Count Liam's expression turned pale. He roared fiercely and tried to rush towards the door, but the two monsters he was fighting attacked him crazily, stopping his movements.
In the end, he could only watch how the Tiger and Jaguar attacked again and ultimately obliterate the doors into hundreds of pieces!
*ROOOOAAAAAAR!*
*ROARRRR!*
The two ultimate beast duos roared in delight. They stood in front of the monsters like two kings made an alliance and finally defeated their common enemy. The army of beast and monsters looked to the city that was finally open for them to enjoy their feast.
But suddenly-
*Slash!*
*BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!*
A terrifying sword light slashed down from the sky.
The sword light was so powerful that it seemed to stop time itself. No monster nearby managed to react to it.
The tiger, the Jaguar, and all the monsters ten kilometers from the door were instantly killed! About more than a million monsters, big or small were instantly annihilated at a trillionth of a second with just a single slash!
It didn't leave a single trace of them, not even their atoms, even their souls weren't even spared.
But at the same time...
*Spurt!*
Samara vomited a mouthful of blood.
"Hahahaha! How expected of the Queen's Royal Guard. To think you chose to receive my attack before letting the monsters invade the city. However, the doors have already fallen. Even if you stop them this time, can you stop them forever?" The black-dressed demigod laughed mockingly.
Samara wrinkled her brows. She knew her enemy was right.
She uses up 1/8 of her mana by using one of her powerful moves, [Light Streak], a spell which unleashes a holy light that penetrates all substances, and forcefully rewrites the targets' genetic arrangement. The maximum range of the spell's radius is 10 kilometers.
Due to the forced genetic rewriting, the spell causes instant death to any beings with evil-alighned or with negative karma. The only ones that can resist it are beings with positive karma and those with the ability to store their soul. It's also possible for someone to survive the spell if they can revive from having complete physical destruction of their body.
It also could even caused an entire large city to be wiped off from the map, but Its only purpose is to wipe out an army of S-rank Monsters and enemy Demigods as you only need to kill them on a soul level.
She would've just used it on the enemy demigod in front of her but noticing the monsters finally broke the gates and was about to breach into the city.
No choice, she could do nothing but to change the situation.
In truth, she was at least ten levels stronger than her opponent (She's like Level 150 while the enemy is only Level 140). Although it was a bit hard to make her enemy stay, in normal circumstances, she could defeat him quite easily as if man was a roach.
The problem was the black-dressed man's strange techniques. For some reason, the power of Samara's attacks were halved when they struck the black dressed man.
Thus, she could only continue attacking while she thought of a way to kill her enemy.
Samara looked at the city and sighed. Some adventurers and hunters stood behind the fallen doors to stop the monsters from entering the city.
But five minutes later, and after another two Legendary Realm humans and four A-rank monsters were killed, the city's entrance was finally breached.
Then, the monsters entered the city.
