Chapter 141: An Unexpected Savior(2)

Vuuaaammn!

"Oof!"

Slowly standing up, our lovable group of retards noticed them in an alley, and a few moments later, they found the mysterious woman in the distance.

"Hey! Who are you?" Vanoss asked the mysterious figure after rising up.

"The answer you speak of is not your concern. I have not much time but I was ordered to give you this."

Handing the Owl man a card, the woman then added, "You all need to seek the Midnight Order, they will help you and your questions will be answered in the future."

Saying this, she instantly vanishes, leaving the group more questions than answers.

"What the fuck is that even mean?" Wildcat asked.

"Well she gave me this card, explained something then Hoodini in front of my face." Vanoss said to him, showing his friends the card in his hands.

Marcel immediately stood up impatiently and took the card from Vanoss.

"The 1st section of the city, I heard she says we will meet some sort of group called the Midnight Order. Probably another religious faction in this world."

"Wait a minute, the Village Chief back then explained to me about all of the Churches but this one I've never heard of." Moo stated.

"Probably it's a secret organization or some sort."

"Well, should we go?" Terroriser asked.

"Fuck no, we are tired right now." Wildcat retorted, "Shit, I really need a rest, I bet Delirious is cooking puncakes right now and is waiting for us."

Basically nodded in agreement, "Agreed, we should go before we start our move."

"Right, new adventurer which we couldn't get a fucking rest."

——————————————————————

It did not take long for people to arrive at the building after Vanoss and the others left the scene.

Just a couple of minutes after Nogla's punch blew the entire part of the building into dust, a crowd had formed around it. At that moment, the city guards arrived after hearing the commotion.

But when they entered and finally arrived at the scene, they couldn't find anything besides countless bodies gruesomely killed, it's a literal carnage inside the building, causing their expressions to pale.

Half an hour later, the captain of the city guards arrived accompanied by a detective.

"...Damn, whatever did this was very ruthless." The Detective whistled.

"What do you think, detective?" Asked the captain. The detective brought his hand to his chin and observed the scene with a look of focus.

After a few seconds, he sighed, "Give up, you probably will not find the culprit."

"Why not though?"

"If I'm not wrong, whoever did this was not alone. They were six, no, seven. Each one a very powerful practitioner, probably around the Master Realm, and at least one of them was at the Grandmaster. Look here." The detective then pointed to the bodies that had either a hole on their chest or on their heads. "Judging by the fluctuations coming from the corpses, they were only Rank 2 to 3, some of them were near Rank 4, but each one of them was killed after their movements got restricted by strong webs that we are looking all over the floor, they got killed after one attack and they were unable to struggle. Moreover, the wounds had traces of burns. Probably a powerful fire mage killed them all as soon as he arrived."

The captain nodded, "What about the other bodies?"

"Two Master Realms." The detective affirmed without hesitation. "They offered a bit more of a struggle and probably tried to escape, but they were killed before they succeeded. Judging by their injuries, one of them was killed by a martial artist and the other by an enemy or two wielding a sharp weapon. The problem, though, is the third person."

The detective then pointed to a dried-up body with several disgusting tentacles protruding from its chest.

"You see, the people behind this were very meticulous. I asked around and people said there is so much noise and chaos in that one building, a few buildings beside that were destroyed or heavily damaged and the final explosion that blew away part of the building. Thus, I dare to affirm that the explosion was something unexpected. Most probably, the last Master Realm expert realized he did not have a chance to escape and used something akin to a technique to increase his strength exponentially and bring his enemies to the grave with him. He failed, obviously, but his sudden increase in power was unexpected, and it took by surprise the enemies and when they clashed, the explosion happened."

"And the reason you said I will not find the culprit is…"

"I told you, the killers were very meticulous. If not for the sounds of chaos and a few buildings being damaged by a powerful martial artist and that last explosion, nobody would have known about this homicide until tomorrow morning at the earliest. People like these will definitely not leave behind clues. I'm sure that even if you ask around to know if someone saw something suspicious, you will get nothing. In fact, there is a big possibility of the killers leaving the District or worse, from the city soon. By then, finding them will truly be impossible."

The captain wrinkled his brows. Although he could see the truth behind the detective's words, they left a bad taste in his mouth.

The detective saw that and patted his shoulder to comfort him, "Just forget about this. From what I can see, the people killed here were members of a criminal syndicate. They probably offended someone they couldn't offend and were killed due to that."

The captain sighed, "I understand. However, I'll have to inform my superiors first. I'll tell them about your suggestion and they will decide if we continue investigating or close the case."

But at that moment, a smiling man walked towards the captain.

"Captain Lancer?"

"It's me," The man nodded as he took out a document and passed it to the captain. "I have an order from the Archduke himself. From now onwards, this case is under my jurisdiction. You can leave."

The captain's expression changed, but before he could say anything, he was stopped by the detective.

"Leave it. It's better if you don't get anymore embroiled in this."

"What are-"

"Have you not noticed? Whatever happened here probably involves more than you can afford to know."

Hearing this, the captain's expression turned grave while the smiling man showed a brief expression of surprise and moved his gaze towards the detective.

"You are a very sharp person, mister."

For some reason, the detective felt chills on his spine.

While this was happening, in the middle of the crowd, a hooded person was looking towards the building with a frown on his face.

Nothing could be seen about him besides the fact he was relatively short, and his nose.

His nose was sniffing repeatedly.

"Damn it." Cursing under his breath, the hooded person turned around and left the place.

Quickly, his figure disappeared between the crowd.

Vanoss and the gang finally returned to their inn without any problems.

After they returned to their rooms, they saw Delirious already finished cooking dinner.

After their dinner time, Delirious asked about where they ate, and some of them answered and explained everything about it.

"Hm, neat. It would be fun if I joined." The masked man remarked.

——————————————————————

After that little event, they went back to their personal rooms, in one of the rooms, Marcel asks Moo in their separate beds.

"Are you alright?" Basically asked.

"I am, don't worry. Just a bit tired."

Marcel frowned. He could see that Brock's face was pale. He seems traumatized back to that event.

"That creature you told about it… I never knew It can be more frightening than what you describe." Moo suddenly said.

"It is." Basically nodded, "You know it's kinda weird because I suddenly got alien or Venom vibes adding tentacles in it."

"Agree," Moo said, compared to other monsters he faced, that one seems the scariest one of all. "So this was what the books meant when they talked about monsters that devoured mana, huh."

"What?"

"Back to the exiled village where I visited the Village Chief, he also has a book that explains a story of where monsters came to their world, monsters that magic were nearly useless against them. The ones who caused the Forgotten Era. That's what I've heard about it, some didn't believe it but it seems to be true."

"Hm… I got this one tingling in my ass saying this world has more than meets the eye."

——————————————————————

As the two moons shine in the dark and midnight time, somewhere in the streets near the Adventurers Guild, the same Guild where the Banana Bus Crew went. The Receptionist walks across the silent streets.

Her sparkling scarlet and emerald green eyes deflect the two moon's light as she halts her steps, noticing a sudden presence.

Turning around with a cold gaze that seems to freeze the air itself, shivering the person behind her.

"Ah, as expected to a being that reaches the Apotheosis stage. Such power that could bring an Overlord to shame." The person said with a voice of a woman, her appearance wasn't shown from the dark shade covers most of her features, but the Receptionist already know who it was from the voice she heard

"What do you want, lizard?

"How rude... and racist. I'm here to ask you some questions, Ms. Alina... or should I say the crown Princess Aliathra Larenthorn. Princess of Elfren-Sonata, the daughter of the Great Elven Queen, one of the Nine Ruling Monarchs, or also known as the 'Keeper of the Great World Tree'. Hm, too bad that Tree was lost and hidden somewhere in the world. I've remembered her meeting my father since I was a child a thousand years ago. I missed her so much. I seen her as my own Aunt-"

"Stop talking about my dead family and get to the point, little Draconian-"

"It's Wave."

"Whatever. I'm still busy. And enough speaking about my dead mother and my dead kingdom-"

"Don't forget my family and kingdom were also destroyed." The woman named Wave added.

"Still it's in the past. Just tell me your bloody questions so I will go."

The woman sighed, "Fine, my first question is... why did you return to this world? You told us that you will not come back because this isn't your world that you knew. Even if you don't care if it gets invaded by invaders from another world. Why?"

"Is that it? Fine, I've made a deal with a... friend of mine. He did owe me so I will do what he asks with a few tasks."

"Oh~? Isn't that handsome Boss of yours?"

"No, it's the other annoying brat."

"...Oh."

"Right now he's mopping the mansion by the Leader of the Council."

"Yeah, that annoying guy deserves that anyway. Was it also those mysterious groups that the Headmistress was interested in?"

"Yeah, it's about them. I have no clue about his true motives but it indeed takes me to one of these parasites."

"I see."

"Is that all of your pointless questions? I need to finish the last task then return back to the Council."

"Yes. Oh wait, before you leave, can you give this to Leader, I hope he will get my message~" She winked and handed a paper to the silver haired woman named Aliathra, she looked at the paper in her hands revealing it to be a phone number.

"...Whatever. What about you?"

Wave chuckled, "Well, I'm gonna go back to the Academy, I hope we will soon meet again, old friend."

"I hope not."

"It depends on Genesis."

"Fuck that Goddess. If that so-called Goddess of Fate is planning on something, I swear I will barge into her realm and decrease the numbers of deities in this world to four, she already knew I am at the level that could bring Gods to fear."

"I know, I know, you have the power to rival the Headmistress and slain Gods on your own blah blah blah. And-... Oh, did you feel from that Owl man's soul, the Former Empress Tsaindeidamia?"

"Yeah, I know, I never thought she had managed to escape her dungeon by fucking an Owl man spiritually,  and is now walking amongst of this world, but she ain't be a threat to anyone, she's weak after all, so let's not talk about her." Aliathra turns around and centered her gaze into the stars of the night sky, "I knew her back then and not only is she the weakest True Dragons amongst the True Dragons, she is like the laziest Dragon ever since she crown her daughter into Empress and let her marry to a damn vegetable-loving pig."

"I mean, you do know ruling an entire nation of Dragons for a hundred thousand years is kinda tiring."

"Yeah, I agreed, Demigod's Immortality is a pain in the ass, I don't understand and often question why people are so obsessed with it."
