Chapter 4: chapter 4
DAMN IT, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME, WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE WHAT I HAVE DONE, WHO HAVE I BOTHERED TO MAKE ALL THIS HAPPEN TO ME.
In a small apartment a young man could be seen destroying everything around him while cursing, who could it be but Arturo himself, but, to understand how he had reached this state we will have to go back a few hours ago.
A FEW HOURS AGO
Police could be seen loading the criminals they found tied up in a warehouse into patrol cars.
This could be done thanks to the call that Batman made to detective Gordon, telling him where the criminals who robbed the bank were after receiving this call Gordon went to the address of the message with the police patrol cars.
They found the money from the bank (Gordon)
Yes, detective from the reports we received it seems that all the money is inside the bags (police)
Well place everything in the patrol cars so we can get out of this place.(Gordon)
After listening to the detective's words the policemen obeyed his orders while they loaded the money bags into the patrol cars, when they finished loading them they confirmed the job while nodding to Gordon informing that everything was ready and started the return to the police station.
After several minutes of travel they were able to return to the police station, once inside they began to process the criminals of the bank robbery, which was fast to the surprise of many, but there was a problem when it was Arturo's turn since they asked him for a last name, but he only commented that he didn't have one.
Are you telling me you don't have a last name (police)?
That's right I don't have one (Arthur)
The cop just looked at him for a few moments before ignoring him and continuing with the report he had in his hands, although this would have been a problem in other cities, this is Gotham, criminals abound and one that had no last name did not matter, he was just another one of the bunch or he thought.
After finishing the report Arthur and his companions were put in different cells.
Arthur just sat and waited at this time he did not feel like fighting or getting angry, his mind was in chaos, nothing went well since he started when he tried to move forward to achieve his goals something was coming and it was as if they were plotting against him or it was just a run of bad luck, he did not even know what was going on.
Now what are we going to do they will blame us for everything (thief)
Hearing these words Arthur came out of his thoughts and raised his head to look at his companions who spoke.
It's not our fault, it's the penguin's fault, he said he would give us enough time to escape without problems, but now look at us here (Arthur).
You could hear the sarcasm and anger in Arthur's words, he was angry enough to leave appearances behind and try to vent the rage he had inside.
Upon hearing what Arturo said his companions only looked at him, but kept silent they were also angry, but they knew that talking that kind of things would only send them to the grave sooner, but what kept them from talking was the fear they had of the penguin and what he would do to them if he knew they blamed him, although their eyes gave them away because if they looked at each other closely you could only see anger in them.
After all they were the ones paying for the mistakes of those above them, they could only endure and try to live from day to day.
I have already sent a message through an intermediary and we will be able to leave here in a few hours (thief).
Upon hearing the words of his companion the rest looked at him some with relief, others with indifference as if they knew this was going to happen and as an hour passed his words came true.
But how does this come true, like some thieves who robbed a bank and were found to have the money from the robbery were released in just a few hours, simple they found a loophole this was because Arthur had no last name was used as the basis for their release but this alone would not be enough to let them go free but to the mistake of the policeman who made the report since seeing that the criminal they arrested did not give his last name or said he did not have it they should have informed Gordon so he could arrange for them not to go free, not to mention that Arthur and his companions had help from someone higher up to get them out.
Seeing this Gordon could only grit his teeth in rage as it was a mistake by the police and these criminals would only go free in a few hours, well and the cop who was in charge of the report would be lucky if he is still with being a cop after this.
After leaving the police station Arthur started to take the road to his apartment, but only a few streets ahead one of his colleagues called out to him.
Arthur can we talk (burglar)
When Arthur turned around he saw his partner, who seeing Arthur turn around started talking to him.
It is a piece of advice Arthur what I have to tell you more than anything else (thief)
A word of advice (Arthur)
Yes, you're new in this city Arthur and maybe you don't know how things are done here but don't ever talk about the penguin again (thief).
Although it may not seem like it the penguin has ears all over Gotham, we don't want to get involved because of something you said take it easy and if you are upset about something, just keep it to yourself and don't say it out loud we are just pawns in this game and it is something you will realize little by little, we won't say anything about you blaming the penguin, but we can't be sure that someone else informed him if that happens you will be on your own.
With that said, Arthur's partner began to walk away in the direction he was coming from, seeing his partner's back moving away Arthur could only grit his teeth and clench his fist tightly as he continued in the direction of his apartment.
PRESENT TENSE
After his angry outburst Arthur fell to his knees as he cursed and clenched his fists tightly.
FALL, FALL.
Without realizing it at some point Arthur began to cry and a few moments later he began to laugh as he cried, it was a laugh of self pity for believing he could change something if he tried.
What did you think was going to happen that you were going to be able to track down the spheres, get real damn it, you have no idea where to start NO FUCKING IDEA, WHAT DID YOU THINK I WAS GOING TO GET SOME MONEY, THAT MAGICALLY YOU WOULD GET THE KNOWLEDGE TO BUILD THE MACHINE TO FIND THE SPHERES AND MAKE YOUR WISHES COME TRUE (Arthur).
After letting out the frustrations he had Arthur remained silently kneeling on the floor as his eyes gradually lost the light in them and entered an abyss of despair at his own helplessness at not being able to get what he wanted.
After a few moments kneeling Arthur got up and began to walk to the bathroom, after looking at himself in the mirror he began to undress and started to shower trying to forget the frustrations he had.
After finishing his shower he dried off and changed his clothes and began to walk out of his apartment, once outside he began to walk towards the street aimlessly.
