Chapter 109: Rias vs. Riser V
Human World, Japan, Kuoh.
"Well, that was pretty good." James said while hugging Sona around her waist. "I didn't know that Ise could move through the shadows like that."
"Somehow I bet he'll use that as another way to sexually harass women." Sona said exasperatedly.
Tsubaki nodded in agreement with her [King] as well.
"Oh, I don't doubt that." James said with a smile. "In any case, the real test for Ri Ri is coming."
As James said that Rias and her peerage could be seen walking toward the new school building's main entrance. With their attention glued to the monitor, the Student Council office fell silent.
Underworld, Satan Territory, Capital City, Lilith.
"It looks like the [Game] will be ending soon." Zeoticus said solemnly. "Although Rias has done well until now, the hardest part of this match is still waiting for her."
"That's true, the Phenex Clans high-speed regeneration is formidable." Lord Phenex said with a smug smile on his face. "It would take an overwhelming amount of fire power to bring Riser down."
"That would be true under normal circumstances." Sirzechs said with a smile. "But Rias wields the [Power of Destruction], or have you forgotten about that, Lord Phenex?"
"I'll admit that the [Power of Destruction] is a powerful ability." Lord Phenex said in a serious tone. "But surely you're not trying to say that Rias has the ability to handle it as you do?"
"Oh, certainly not." Sirzechs said with pride. "But she's much more capable than you give her credit for."
On the other side of the room, Venelana and Lady Phenex were also discussing the upcoming battle.
"Those men certainly have strong opinions on how the [Game] will end." Lady Phenex said while glancing at the men in the room from the corner of her eye. "What do you think, Lady Gremory?"
"Honestly, Rias' [Power of Destruction] is not the key to this battle." Venelana said casually. "But if Rias uses what she has effectively, then there is no reason she should lose to Riser."
"Now I'm quite curious to see what that girl has up her sleeves." Lady Phenex said while shifting her attention back to the monitor showing Rias and her peerage standing outside the Student Council office.
[Rating Game] Board.
Standing outside the door to the Student Council office, Rias, Akeno, Koneko, Yuuto, Gasper, Issei, and Asia were prepared to finish this [Rating Game]. Taking a deep breath, Rias attempted to calm her nerves. Looking back at her peerage one more time, Rias finally turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. After entering the room, what they saw was Riser sitting at the desk Sona usually occupied. Off to the side, Ravel stood with an uneasy expression on her face. Seeing this, Rias raised an eyebrow, then she addressed Riser.
"It looks like you intend to fight all of us alone, Riser." Rias said with a solemn expression on her face.
"I'll admit, Rias." Riser said without responding to Rias. "You have done better, much better, than I expected. Unfortunately, that means that I, Riser Phenex, have been humiliated. I was expected to win, and easily at that."
When Rias and her peerage entered the Student Council office, Riser's expression was calm. However, as he spoke, his expression and tone showed more anger over time. He practically roared his last sentence.
"For humiliating me, Riser Phenex, I'll have to show you your place!"
With that, Riser flared his demonic power. Covering himself in the flames his clan is known for, Riser looked at Rias angrily. The malice he was emitting was almost tangible. However, there seemed to be someone nearby who did not care.
"You talk too much." Koneko said as she appeared in front of Riser with her right hand cocked back and covered in [Senjutsu].
On top of that, Koneko attacked while in her adult form. With her ears twitching and her two tails waving through the air, Koneko delivered a devastating punch to Riser's sternum.
*Boom!*
"Gah!"
*Boom!*
Before anyone could react, Koneko's punch landed and sent Riser flying. Then, he slammed through the wall behind him while spewing blood from his mouth. Eventually, a third sound of impact could be heard. Mostly likely the sound of Rias coming in contact with the ground.
"Koneko, good job." rias said with a smile. Seeing Rias hit like that was satisfying. "How much longer can you hold that form?"
"Three minutes, Buchou." Koneko replied while keeping her senses trained on Riser.
"Alright, I want you to deal as much damage as you can in those three minutes." Rias said with a nod. "I'm sure you don't need me to remind you what to do."
"Got it, Buchou." Koneko said before rushing out the wall created when Riser passed through it.
Jumping down to the Academy's courtyard, Koneko was just in time to see the angry Riser standing from the small crater he created when slamming into the ground.
"You damn bitch, I'll make you my sex slave when this is over." Riser roared angrily.
"Like I said before..." Koneko said without changing her expression. Then, she rushed toward Riser with her arm cocked back for another punch. "You talk too much."
Raising his arms to protect himself from another one of those devastating punches, Riser fell for Koneko's faint. Instead of feeling the impact on his arms, he felt his left shin break. Stumbling forward because of the unexpected attack, he was unprepared for the right hook to his rib cage. The sickening crunch was the sign of more broken bones. After that, a flurry of punches, elbow strikes, kicks, and knee strikes struck Riser all over his body for the next minute. At the end of this rush of blows, Koneko threw an uppercut that connected with Riser's jaw and launched him into the air.
Human World, Japan, Kuoh.
While watching Koneko's performance, James was quite satisfied. All those years ago, James had taught Koneko his style of Muay Thai, and he could see that it was fully integrated into her fighting style.
"The Kitty Cat has really improved." James said with a smile.
"You're just happy she still uses what you taught her." Sona said while rolling her eyes.
[Rating Game] Board.
While Riser was flying uncontrollably through the air, a blur flew toward him from the direction of the Student Council office. As it passed Riser, he let out an earth-shattering scream. The pain he must have felt from that attack must have been immense. A moment later, Riser was able to regain his balance in mid-air. With the Phenex Clan's unique firebird-like wings extended from his back, his menacing glare was locked onto Koneko and Yuuto. A moment later, he realized that he was not regenerating as fast as he should.
"What the hell did you two do to me?" Riser shouted angrily.
Although neither answered, they were both satisfied with the damage they caused Riser. During each strike Koneko landed on him, she slowed down the rate at which Riser's life energy circulated through his body. Although she's not fully proficient in it, Koneko found that manipulating life energy is one of the core abilities of a [Senjutsu] practitioner during her training with Shuna. Yuuto on the other hand, created a pair of demonic swords with his [Sacred Gear], [Sword Birth]. The first was given the attribute, demonic flame eraser. The second was created to absorb demonic winds. Yuuto came up with the idea for these swords from the first thing Riser said when he teleported into the ORC club room ten days ago.
"You don't want to talk?" Riser said angrily as he felt insulted. "When you become my slaves, I'll force you to tell me."
With that, Riser created a reddish-golden flame in his right palm. Then, he flung it at Koneko and Yuuto. Using his demonic flame eraser sword, Yuuto stood before Koneko and defended against the incoming attack. Once the flames were extinguished, Koneko rushed past Yuuto and began another flurry of attacks on the dumbfounded Riser.
'How? How is that inferior devil guarding against my flames?" Riser asked himself as he tried, and failed, to defend himself from Koneko's attacks.
"Ahh~~!"
Also, while he was defending against Koneko, Yuuto would strike Riser from his blind spot whenever the opportunity presented itself. In this way, Riser was beaten one-sidedly for another minute and a half. Eventually, Koneko and Yuuto backed away from the badly beaten Riser. Unfortunately, Koneko was not in much better shape than Riser. With several burns caused by the flames he surrounded himself with, Koneko had no choice but to take damage every time she struck her opponent. Yuuto, on the other hand, was not too injured. Instead, his stamina was drained massively. Because of the difference in strength, Riser was able to break quite a few of his demonic sword creations. And the stamina expenditure from creating and recreating his swords during such high intensity combat took a toll on his stamina.
On top of the beating he had taken, Riser also noticed that his regeneration had slowed even further. On top of that, it took more demonic energy for each injury. After noticing this, Riser's confusion and anger went through the roof.
During the lull in the combat, Rias, Akeno, Gasper, Issei, and Asia neared their comrades.
"Both of you have done well, my cute servants." Rias said with a genuinely happy smile. "You two can rest, for now. Leave the rest to us."
"Yes, Buchou." x 2
Then, Asia approached Koneko and Yuuto in order to heal their injuries.
"You should focus on Koneko first, Asia." Yuuto said with a smile when Asia approached. "Those burns need to be taken care of. They're much more serious than the wounds I received from my broken swords."
"Okay, Koneko you should sit down. Asia said as she activated her [Sacred Gear], [Twighlight healing].
"Now, Riser." Rias said as she focused her attention on her opponent. "I think it's time to finish this."
"Even after all that you weren't able to defeat me, Rias." Riser said angrily while glaring at Rias. "What makes you think you could beat me now?"
"Wow, this dick head is gloating about surviving against two middle-rank devils." issei said in a mocking tone. "I'm sure you feel so impressive."
Rage growing due to issei's mockery, Riser spread his wings once more. Then, he rose into the air and flared his demonic energy. However, before he could attack, a barrage of balls of [Destruction] came flying from Rias. Although not all of them hit him, Riser found that each ball was much stronger than he expected. Luckily, he did not have to endure too many of them directly. Once the barrage ended, Riser raised his head proudly.
"How disappointing, Rias." Riser said condescendingly. "To think you missed so many times from such a range."
It did not take long for Riser to notice something was wrong, though. Looking at Rias' peerage, he realized their visions were not focused on him. Rather they were focused on the sky around him. Turning his head to see what was attracting their attention, Riser's face paled when he realized that all the balls of [Destruction] that missed him were now surrounding him.
"Oh, shit!" Riser said with a tone of despair.
*Clap!*
"[Hellzone Destruction]!" Rias shouted as she clapped her hands together.
At the sound of the crisp clap, all the balls of [Destruction] surrounding Riser began to converge on his location. After a moment, Riser had been hit by hundreds of those balls of [Destruction]. When the attack ended, Riser could be seen falling from the sky while regenerating. Before he reached the ground, however, a magic circle appeared above him.
"What?" Riser said, while he weakly looked around the area.
When he finally found the source of the magic circle, he was shocked. Akeno was flying with her wings spread.
"[Lightning Bolt]!" Akeno shouted as she combined her light powers and thunder magic.
"Ahh~~~~~~!" Riser shrieked in pain due to the light element in the attack.
*Boom!*
Due to the lightning strike from above, Riser was slammed into the ground. With his body racked with pain, he was unable to defend himself from the impact. As his wounds were still regenerating slowly, Riser was unable to rise to his feet for a few moments. And Rias had no intension of letting this opportunity go.
"Issei, now!" Rias shouted.
With Rias shout, Issei shifted himself through the shadows to Riser's side. Then, after grabbing Riser, he shifted himself and Riser into the dark fog Asia created at the beginning of the [Rating Game]. After leaving Riser at the designated location, Issei returned to the others. When he did, he saw Rias in the air with her wings extended and her arms spread. On the palm of each hand was a ball of the [Power of Destruction] approximately the size of a basketball. Then, she brought her hands together in front of her, combining the two balls of [Destruction] into one with her arms pointing to where issei left Riser.
"[Final Destruction]!" Rias shouted as a ray of [Destruction] energy was fired from the ball of [Destruction] in her hands.
Meanwhile, in the darkened forest, Riser was finally able to stand. However, he was in no condition to fight for the moment.
"That damn bitch!" Riser shouted angrily. "How dare she humiliate me like this!"
Before Riser could complain any further, though, the dark fog surrounding him was tinted in an ominous crimson color. Then, after a moment everything bent completely black, and he lost consciousness.
On the other side of the Academy, Rias and her peerage watched as the ray was fired into the fog. After a moment, a dome of the [Power of Destruction] consumed the entire wooded area surrounding the old school building.
"Holy shit..." Issei muttered in disbelief.
Before long, the dome dissipated. In its place was nothing but a crater. A perfectly hemispherical crater as deep as the dome they saw was tall. Then, before anyone could comment any further, Grayfia's voice rang out across the [Rating Game] board.
"{[King], Riser Phenex has retired. The winner of this [Rating Game] is Rias Gremory.}"

SixthSense1029 So, I decided t finish the Rating Game today. Like I said last chapter, this is one of tomorrow's chapters. So unless I hit a serious wrting streak, I'll probably only post once tomorrow. I hope not leavings things on a cliff will offset the lack of a chapter tomorrow.
