Chapter 5: Chapter 5
A black caddy could be seen on the highway. Inside the car, there were 3 men and 2 women. The atmosphere inside the car is quite awkward. Tallahassee was driving with a gun in his lap and also frequently looking at the back seat where Wichita, Little Rock, and Alex were sitting. Columbus seating besides Tallahassee was also looking at the back seat specifically at Wichita. It was quite obvious that the guy had a crush on her.
Alex was sitting next to Little rock and was lost in his thought. He was thinking about the mission issued by the Tower. There was a huge chance that things might not go as smoothly at Pacific Playland as shown in the movie. T800 zombies were only shown in the sequel but Alex just killed one a few hours before. Maybe it was due to his interference with the plot that caused the butterfly effect or maybe it was just a coincidence that a T800 zombie was there but Alex does not want to take a chance. He decided to be on guard and not blindly rely on his knowledge of the movie.
"So, you already know our name, what are yours?" Little rock said trying to strike up a conversation to make the situation less awkward. This snapped out of his thoughts and see the situation.
"Well my name is Alex and they are Tallahassee and Columbus" Alex answered.
"These are your real names?" Little rock asked while looking toward the front seats.
"No names, it is one of my rules. I am going to Tallahassee so just call me Tallahassee " Tallahassee said.
"I am Columbus because I am going to Columbus," Columbus said still looking toward Wichita
"Why Columbus? Last I heard it was filled with zombies there is nothing left there. It is a wasteland now" Wichita asked looking toward Columbus.
Columbus was shocked to hear that. His parents lived there and he was going to Columbus to look for his parents.
Tallahassee faked a cough to draw her attention and signaled her with his eyes.
"His family" Alex whispered to her.
"You can still go and check. I just heard it from someone it could all be wrong" Wichita said hurriedly after realizing that Columbus was going there to look for his family.
"It is alright I was prepared for the worst" Columbus said. Even though he was trying to look as if it all did not matter to him but everyone could see he was still sad.
"You know I once had a dog. Its name was Bucky but I lost it to the zombies. These zombies have taken many things from me. That is why I hate them with passion." Tallahassee said with sadness.
"What about you?" little rock said to Alex trying to divert everyone's attention.
"Well I am going to Hollywood" Alex answered.
"You have a family there too," Little Rock asked.
"No, my family is not in this world. I am going to Hollywood to enjoy living like a celebrity, in their house" Alex said.
"Cool! We are going to Pacific Playland. It is the only place free from zombies. I have been there only once when I was a child. I am quite excited to see it again" Little rock said with excitement in her voice.
"Hate to break it to you but there is no such place free from zombies," Tallahassee said.
"And how do you know that have you been to Pacific Playland? " Little Rock said.
"No, but I do not need to visit it to know that" Tallahassee stated.
"Well, it is!" Little rock insisted.
"Believe what you want," Tallahassee said.
Alex closed his eyes and he was quite tired from all the killing and running after all he was a normal person and he had not killed anything before, even if he knew that it is a movie world and that he is killing a zombie, it still affected him and soon he fell asleep.
Alex was woken up by Little Rock 3 hours later in front of a store.
"Rise and shine sleeping beauty," Tallahassee said seeing Alex wake.
"Sorry I was tired," Alex said.
"No worries but you are driving for the night," Tallahassee said.
"Alright," said Alex.
They walked toward the store entrance and Tallahassee started walking toward the bell but Alex stopped him.
"I will take care of it," Alex said. Every kill was important for Alex, especially the easy ones. Alex did the same thing Tallahassee did in the movie. He rang the bell at the door but instead of one, five zombies came charging toward him. Alex aimed at their head and pulled the trigger. This also confirmed his theory that things might not go the same as in the movie, especially at the Pacific Playland. He walked inside and put another bullet in each zombie's head. Then all of them walked inside.
All of them started looking around at the stuff inside and just as in the movie. Tallahassee and Columbus started arguing. Suddenly Tallahassee pushed Columbus causing a vase to fall and break. Columbus looked towards Wichita and picked another item from the store and threw it at the ground breaking it. One after the other all of them started breaking things in the store. It helped them all to blow off some steam. After some time they walked out of the destroyed store.
"I'll drive. You all can rest for some time." Alex said.
"Alright, but anything better not happen to my Caddy," Tallahassee said while giving Alex the keys.
Alex got into the driver's seat and before Columbus could get in the front seat with Alex, Wichita open the door and got in.
"I am not tired I can alternate with him," Wichita said.
Columbus looked quite jealous but did not say anything and sat down in the back seat with Little rock between him and Tallahassee.
For the next 2 hours, Tallahassee and Little rock kept arguing about many things including Tallahassee's obsession with Twinkies, It was quite obvious even though they were arguing, they enjoyed it. Finally, after 2 hours they all fell asleep. Now only Wichita and Alex were awake.
"Sorry about what happened at the grocery store," Wichita said.
"Don't worry about it" Alex said.
"Why did you give us a lift anyway?" Wichita asked the question that had been bothering her for a long time.
"Like I said before it was because of your sister. I do not want a child to die" Alex said.
Wichita looked at Alex for some moments then said, " So you said you have seen us before at a station".
"Yes, when you were conning the manager of the store with the ring trick and afterward I saw little rock get in the same car as yours a few blocks away," Alex said what he remembered from the movie.
"Well you gotta make the ends meet somehow," Wichita said.
"So what's up with the Pacific Playland?" Alex asked even though he already knew the answer.
"Yeah I know it is nuts but she needs hope even if it is false especially at a time like these" Wichita answered.
"We have been there when she was young with our parents and we were going there before all this shit, so I just told her that to give her hope when all this started" Wichita continued.
"It is tough growing up in Zombieland" suddenly a voice from behind the seat said. Alec and Wichita turned around to see Columbus who was awake.
"It is tough growing up" Wichita stated. Suddenly she stopped on the highway near a truck.
"I am sorry about what I said earlier about your family. I know how you are feeling. You can take this truck to Columbus and see for yourself" Wichita said apologetically.
Columbus looked towards the truck and open the door but decided to close it after thinking for some time. Wichita looked at him and started driving again.
The rest of the journey went with Alex and Wichita talking about various things and taking turns driving the car. Finally, it was morning and others started to wake up. Tallahassee and Columbus took over driving from Alex and Wichita. Finally, after 3 hours of ride, they were about to reach Hollywood.
"You know sleep deprivation is the biggest problem in America," said Columbus.
"No, it is number two" stated Wichita.
"Ha! She said number two" Tallahassee said while laughing.
"Cute. What I am trying to say is we need to find a place to crash" said Columbus whole looking toward Columbus.
"We are about to reach Hollywood. We can look for a place there" Alex suggested.
"I know just the place," Tallahassee said while speeding toward Hollywood.
After entering all that could be seen were zombies and destruction. It was hard to believe that it was once filled with people. Tallahassee stopped in front of a theatre.
"Quick get the map," said Tallahassee. Alex and Columbus got off the car to get the map attached to a board in front of the theater. Columbus went to get the map and Alex covered for him. Five zombies rushed toward them and Alex shot them each with 2 bullets in the head. They got the map and rushed into the car. Tallahassee drove away running over two zombies. Tallahassee looked at the map searching for something.
"I heard Tom Cruise had a mansion here," Little Rock said.
"Believe me the one I am looking for will blow your mind," Tallahassee said confidently.
Finally, after driving around for three hours the car is in front of a huge mansion. the gate of the mansion had two big letters B and M.
"B and M?" Columbus said.
"That does not stand for Bob Marley" Tallahassee replied.
They entered the mansion and Tallahassee finally revealed that they were in the mansion of Bill Murray. Rest went the same as the movie with Tallahassee and others explaining who Bill Murray was to Little rock and finally checking the kitchen for Twinkies, they all decided to split up and check the whole mansion for zombies. Alex already know that there was no Zombie in the mansion, only Bill Murray disguised as Zombie, who decided just walk around the mansion and pretended to search.
After some time he came to the same room where Wichita and Tallahassee were with Bill Murray dressed as a zombie smoking weed.
"Alex we hit jackpot who would have thought we will not only live in Bill Murray's house but also meet him," Tallahassee said to Alex expressing his joy.
"Welcome to my house! Come join us" Bill Murray said to Alex.
"Thanks," Alex said and started smoking with them to relax.
Then suddenly Tallahassee came up with an idea to scare Columbus who was watching a movie with Little rock in the theatre room and Wichita and Bill Murray both decided to go with this idea knowing that he probably had a gun on him so Alex decided to be the voice of reason.
"I do not think that is a good idea. He has a gun and will most probably blow your head off" Alex said.
All of them stopped and looked at Alex, especially Bill Murray who was visibly frightened and thankful that he just escaped his possible death.
"Yeah let's not do that," Wichita said.
"Yes, how about a drink," said Bill Murray going towards the kitchen.
Alex suddenly received another notification from the Tower.

This was an unexpected gain. After a few minutes, Bill Murray came back with vodka which cheered up Tallahassee and after forty-five minutes they were all already drunk. Tallahassee was sharing his life story about how he lost his everything to zombies and this time he did not change his son to a dog. Just after he finished telling his story he fell asleep on the sofa.
Wichita looked at Alex who was also equally drunk as her and asked," So what's your next plan now that you have reached here"
"I was planning on following you and your sister to Pacific Playland," said Alex truthfully due to being drunk.
"Why?" Wichita asked staring at him.
"Well I have to protect you and Little rock there" Alex again said truthfully also looking into her eyes.
They kept looking into each other's eyes and started to slowly get closer to each other and finally started kissing. They separated after a few minutes and looked at each other and started kissing again. They started moving towards the empty room on the other end of the hallway and enter the room closing the door behind them.
