Chapter 2: Ch 2 The Genius Clone Makes Some Changes
Alpha-24 now known as Gean was browsing through the equipment files for the Clone army and navy. Much of it was good. He made some changes and had a few new ideas though.
First was the primary heavy armor, the AT-TE. The primary turret gunner was exposed. That was just dumb. It was also lacking in anti personal weaponry. So he altered the blueprint to have a remote control gunners station for the main turret inside of the hull. He also replaced the 2 lower front small lasers with armored versions of the LAAT-i's ball beam laser turrets. He calculated that there was enough energy to be able to run 2 of them without making significant changes to the design.
As he was thinking of the LAAT-i he moved on to its design. It was also a very good design but had the same problem as the AT-TE, exposed gunners. He made remote gunner stations at the man doors just behind the cockpits. He was able to slim down and armor the turrets themselves now that there wasn't a trooper inside. The other benefit of doing this was that now they didn't need to be removed altogether for space travel. The gunship would be air tight. The other issue he found with the LAAT-I was its lack of rear protection. He replaced the single slow firing turret with a twin rapped fire laser ball turret. All weapons on the gunship could be fired by ether the pilot, copilot/gunner or the 2 new gunner stations. If any crew member was injured or killed, or one sector of fire needed more attention, anyone could operate any gun needed.
Happy with the change so far as it would be more efficient and safer for his brothers, he moved on to the army's lack of anti-air cover. He decided to modify the good base of the AT-TE. He called it the AT-ME, All Terrain Missile Enforcer. He replaced the main gun with a large missile battery. It had 2 box missile cells of 8x8, 64 per cell, 128 total. The missiles themselves would be multi targeting, allowing them to target and track air or ground targets. He then replaced the 2 upper front and the 2 rear lasers with rapid fire versions. They were capable of AA cover as well as ground. The energy draw was acceptable due to the removal of the main gun as the missile launcher didn't take nearly as much power.
Gean decided that his brothers could use a faster support vehicle. He took the design of the Juggernaut and made it smaller. He decided to name it the Judicator. It's wheels would be 3x3 instead of 5x5. It would be faster than a walker but not as flexible in different terrains. The Judicator would have decent armor and have the command and control equipment removed that the Juggernaut had in it. The extendable observation/sniper tower would remain but he added a shield to it. Much like a Droideka's shield. It would have 6 rapid fire light laser cannons for infantry support. 4 on the sides, 2 on the front quarter panels and 2 on the rear quarter panels. Of the last 2, one would be under the rear chin and one on top the front cab. He added a AT-TE main turret to the top with the remote control gunners station inside. The Judicator couldn't carry as many troops as the AT-TE or Juggernaut, but it's primary role was as fast response infantry support. Due to it being roughly the same size as the AT-TE it was still deployable by the LAAT-c.
The last major ground equipment he came in with was for the troops themselves. He designed a shield grenade. It would deploy when thrown a 3ft by 6ft rectangular shield wall. It's size ended up being slightly larger than standard grenades. He planed to have every clone trooper carry one as standard equipment. It's power wasn't to great but it would allow a squad to leapfrog cover on an advance over open ground. It couldn't take to many shots due to its lack of power but some cover was better than none. He felt very good about this invention as he believed it would save many of his brothers lives.
Gean moved onto space combat. He liked what he sees, but there are 3 thing. First was the ARC-170. It was a good design for a heavy fighter but he didn't see a reason to risk 3 of his brothers in one fighter. He removed the upper pilot position and moved the astromech there. He then removed the upper rear laser and gunner position. Replacing them with a ball turret in the position where the astromech was. The ball turret would be the same as the one on the BTL-B Y-Wing. Giving the upper arc of fire a 360° range. He left the lower single laser turret but linked it to the ball turret so the rear and bottom arc had coverage. He then added 2 light laser cannons in the nose. The large medium cannons on the wing tips were nice but to slow firing and spread apart to be the only forward firepower.
The next ship he designed was a variant of the Venator. He named it the Vanquisher. It would have the same size and basic design as the Venator but it would be more focused towards ship to ship fighting than being a carrier. He removed the primary large middle hanger, replacing it mostly with power generation. He added 5 more double heavy turbo laser batteries in a stepped format down the top spine. They could all fire over one another. The lower most being on the original top deck and the highest being just below the bridge. All having a 270° frontal arc of fire. With the last amount of power generation he calculated he added more shields.
The last ship he designed for the clone navy was a variant of the Arquitens light cruiser. He simply removed the 4 twin light turbo lasers and replaced them with the quad heavy laser cannons. It now having 8 batteries, 4 in turrets. It would have good coverage all around. This ship would give his brothers a good anti starfighter picket ship. He named it the Pike.
His battle plans were for a standard fleet to consist of 2 Venators, 2 Vanquishers, 3 Arquitens, and 3 Pikes. Gean was happy with his changes for now and submitted them to the Kaminoan High Council for approval. He was pretty sure they would approve. He tried to make variants so they would be cheaper to make. So he didn't go for any thing to costly for the budget.
AN: Sorry for info dump but that's my favorite thing, the equipment. The next chapter he chooses his personal equipment and goes out with Jango.

Im not tied to the names I chose but I'm horrible with names so if you have something better I might change it.
